Work on this project is on hold again. I know this because my other half was one of the contractors who left on Monday 3/16 due to bounced checks. There is still a lot of work to do. Don't hold your breath waiting for the ship to be sunk. It may very well be back in court and this time, sold for scrap.
That's weird, my sources have told me everything is moving along slowly with the Vandenberg about to be towed to key west, the sinking date hopefully being before June 1.
wow i was on this ship at inact ship norfolk for a whol summer. we unloaded every thing off of her. i wished i could have keep alot of the stuff. i forget what bulkhead but i drew a outline of my friend that feel asleep.also their should be m.t. on some of thespaces. man what great time we had on that.alot of work we did on her.man we had to pull all the stock out of the bowles of her. boxs and boxs of stuff we took off.
We are hoping to sink her on May 5th, "Cinco de Wrecko." Stay tuned, we will be moving the ship to Key West in early spring for some final pre-sinking work.
view the underwater world of a collection of ships sunk off the coast of Australia in 1986 visit herveybaydownunder An Artifcal Reef with abundant fish life and exceptional coral groth, see what can happen.Ships, tyres, cars, over 3 sq.kilometers.
Its unfortunate yet another ship has been removed from the "fleet". This is a wonderful area to see the old ships, great fishing area and quite a landmark. Sadly, a nearby wealthy gated community has been complaining about them. They have rested thru many storms and endured wartime but now they are considered a threat.
Now the idea is to pollute the bottom of our oceans with these ships.
Actually they clean the ships so there is nothing to pollute our water! They in fact do the just the opposite, they create a habitat for marine life to thrive, which in turn reduces pollution. Building the "fleet" is what causes pollution! Anyway rather than rot away, we can recycle them for a reef!
Sheri may not be Miss America but she has a first rate pair of floatation devices.

Sad to see her go, dad served onboard in the 70's on a cruise out of kawjalien (sp) to head up & spy on the russians.

I'm surprised she hasn't sunk on her own already; check out how far she's listing to port in the video.
Looks like that would be a fun dive, though.

Really cool. Initially counter-intuitive, but artificial reefing is a most exciting concept!
