troupes de marine = composante de l'armée de terre aussi, plus rien à voir avec les bateaux (il fut un temps par contre, tu peux voir sur wikipedia par exemple). Les TDM sont en fait ce qu'on appelait avant les troupes coloniales, destinées à êtres embarquées puis débarquées, et dépendaient du ministère de la marine (comme les colonies). Maintenant: dépendent de l'armée de terre depuis au moins la fin de la guerre.

Some years ago a competition was arranged between Members of the FFL, British Marines and U.S Rangers. A race covering an exacting assault course! 'La Legion' did it in approx 7hours. British Marines in around 10 hours and the U.S Rangers took a day and a half! Is there a lesson here for those Americans so full of how bloody good they are? this is sheer calumny, France won WW1 with guts, America wasn t in till the very last offensives and it was a completely depleted country when WW2 occured yet they managed to create a resistance and eventualy overthrew the Germans thanks to the backing of the allied forces... Do not take all credits for yourself. Lafayette battles for American independance war were as much decisive as the American and Allied forces landing on the beaches of Normandy in WW2...
