@KevinADCarter ALl firearms sales within a FFL(Federal Firearms Licensee) dealer is always accompanied by a completion of Federal Form 4473 and they are ALL accompanied by a background check via the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) search "NICS FBI" and "NICS fact sheet" on google and in most states they do not require at waiting period unless (delayed via NICS). ALSO the completion of form 4473 is not a registration. 4473 is for the background checks and FLL's files :)

It is also illegal to file off the serial numbers to a firearm (better yet a felony) and a felony to own a gun with the serial number filed off. :) thanks

@Mik5OO Those aren't actually "machine guns". You could theoretically get your hands on a real fully automatic weapon if you have a permit and a good reason (Private Military Contractors, hi-sec guards, etc.) Those LOOK like assault rifles, but there's no way to fire them fully automatically without a very expensive (and also illegal) modification. Most states have a 10 round limit on magazine sizes too, so if you had a full-auto gun you'd have to reload every half a second (literally).
