  • You probably had a good asl teacher ...

  • Oh man that was so cool..it looks like u incorporate hip hop into it too..

  • Hey, youre soooooo amazing, and beautiful....Your ASL is so awesome also....keep up good job.

  • I like this music interpretation showing creativity with the sign language but viewed it as one dimensional ASL interpreted song. Keep up.

  • i actually don't know sign language but watching it somehow gives me a new meaning to music :) i hope i can learn it some day.

  • I've not seen a bad video from you. I love your work.

  • you are amazinggg!!!!

  • wow i love how u get in to it when u do sign i love ur face lol but u are good real good

  • THIS is amazing

  • can't get over how amazing this is.

  • If this is your off day, I have no idea on how it can be improved. I thought it was so awesome. Thank you for sharing your work. Val

  • My mom is deaf and we couldnt understad any of the signs that you were using....sorry....

  • @hollywood9619 Then your mother is definitely NOT deaf. She did ASL perfectly. If you and your mother couldn't understand what she signed ASL perfectly then you sure never had communicate with your mother in your own lifetime.

  • @joshiesworld no it's just that she's is using newer signs that i have never seen before. i have nothing against her signing. There are different versions of ASL. She's amazing.

  • @hollywood9619 You meant old-fashioned sign language? I got ya. Used to only know old-fashioned sign languages until the internet was invented.

  • @joshiesworld im a C.O.D.A. so basically i only use sign language to talk to my mom & that's it

  • Whats with the paragraphs just enjoy the music and the art of sign language:) to blessed to be stressed

  • I've learned linguistically SEE PSE ESL MCE aren't real languages. The "languages" are borrowing from English grammar. I would never judge someone who used SEE PSE ESL MCE to communicate however the person identifies themselves. Being able to communicate is the most important thing. My point is Kelly does't need to change the the target language. If she was interpreting for you she would try to make the language more accessible to met your needs of communication, i.e. ESL.

  • You r amazinggg!!!

  • amazin.! Can you pls do Avril Lavigne Innocence OR Ron Pope Drop in Ocean.?

  • Dang girl! U deliver everytime time!

  • An off day? I'm not seeing it. This is amazing.

  • Adorable! LOVE-IT!

  • ENCORE!!! (:

  • Do you practice asl before the recording? You are so awesome! I'm deaf and it's so hard to find good asl videos and now I found good ones!!

  • nice one kelly! :j

  • If this is what an off day looks like I sire would hate to see what your really like when your having a good one (LOL) Exceptional Job

  • Well done! Your interpretation was well done, your signs were clear, and your facial experssions were beautiful! I think even a non signer would get what you were saying.

  • WOW! this is absolutely amazing.. i love that you don't sign exactly what she's saying but you kinda make it your own, that's really awesome. :) keep doin what you do!!! :D

  • Very Good! Keep Posting!

  • girl you are vry good. i am an interrupter and you did ASL beautifully in this song.

  • You are amazing that can put music to ASL... Love it... smiling... You know how to make English to ASL... Not many terp can do like you do... because you truly are amazing person in hearts.. smiling... You have a man should be proud to have you smiling..

  • Please do more Beyonce! I'd love to see "End of Time" or "Run The World" from ya! Your expressions and style are gorgeous!

  • Finally! A song that's actually INTERPRETED with real ASL. I'm a newbie interpreter but in my opinion, your interpretation was wonderful, spot onto the point, and full of proper space, prosody, and plays on signs (with lots of appropriate expansion features). Thanks for the great post!

  • so i know nothing about asl, but i LOVE to watch you! could you kind of "translate" it? i really want to learn! or is it like a "direct translation"? either way this is really awesome!

  • @thetoasterpenguin She really is a good signer! I like to watch her too! i don't think she's signing the exact words, and so i'm not really sure if she could translate...have you watched her video where she signs "grenade" by bruno mars??? That one is really good!!! And i think you should learn sign language, i'm in high school and i think it's really fun! But that could just be my teacher and my class and how we're being taught.

  • will you please do "Like my mother does" ?!!?!?!?! PLEASE :) You're AMAZING!!! I want to sign like you one day!!!

  • ur so pretty and ur sighning is really great too.

  • weird question but r u a christian :)

  • I love all the emotion you have when you sign. Im learning asl right now and i cant wait until im able to do something like this.

  • You should do Mr. Know It All by Kelly Clarkson. :)

  • not gona lie...this is pretty legit...i like it, a lot

  • POST A GLOSS PLZ! I would love to have your interpretation of these videos!

  • I love your interpretations!!! thank you for signing in asl and not english!

  • Hopefully someday I will be as good as you. My ASL teacher told my mother I had a gift and since then I have been watching your videos nonstop and I take notes and rehears signs that you use. You're my inspiration :)

  • The sign at 0:25 where you place your hand to your chin and pull your fingers together. What are you signing?? I noticed you use that sign a lot in your videos and haven't been able to figure out what your signing there. But I LOVE watching your videos. Your an amazing interpreter and artist. I just hope one day my interpreting skills are as amazing as yours!! Keep the videos rollin' seems like i'm not the only one that likes them!

  • @jamieboy3387 That sign is the concept for "cherish"... She does use it a lot but it fits wonderfully!

  • @jaytalex10 Thanks!! That makes a lot of sense now that I see it!!

  • Pleaseeeee sign The Harold Song by Ke$ha! I'm doing a project and I have to sign that song and I need some inspiration! :) thanks!

  • I wish my off days looked like this!! I am a 2 year asl student, and I hope to get to this point! :)

  • great now we will have a silence music

and evryone can be a star in this music

  • Watching your videos, give me immediate chills. You've inspired me. :)

  • this is really similiar sign ways like @tiffanyhill but good job with creative sign :D

  • UR the best actor/signer/facial expresser ever i nvu!!!

  • This gave me chills. You have a gift, dear.

  • I have been trying to figure out what this one particular sign is, and you do it at 1:38 , where you do the open 8 handshape with both hands towards the camera... I was wondering if you could tell me what sign that is? I can't figure it out, and I've seen it in a few stories I've been watching, and I cannot place it. I'd ask my sister, but she's not near me (she lives like 3 hours away.. so close, but not close enough) and while I was thinking about it, I'd thought I'd ask. . . Much Mahalo's!

  • @AnAutumnRose808 Sorry, it was at about 1:34 or 1:35....

  • @AnAutumnRose808 its the idea of "pity" the song says 'you expect me to care', meaning you want my pity?

  • @charbabe1986 oh! Thank you... that makes so much sense now that you've told me! Mahalo! Thanks! I appreciate you responding!

  • @AnAutumnRose808 A slightly closer translation is sympathize-with. She's saying in effect, "Poor you. Poor baby." :)

  • Awesome interpretation! :)

  • You're the first person I found so far who signs true ASL. I'm hearing but am learning ASL [true ASL] as my foreign language in school. I'll be subbing to you! =D

  • Kelly u n Russell Harvard need 2 do an ASL duet...dat wud b sum serious signin

    Lady!!

  • @wolfenprincess1 the best interpretation I could tell you is "blah blah blah" lol... Its literally the tongue flapping in the mouth...

  • Comment removed

  • i love your interpretation and your signing literally brought tears to my eyes. as someone who is fluent in ASL, i appreciate what you do so so much. you're amazing, keep it up :)

  • how many years have you known ASL?

  • OMG...!!! u look amazing with short hair..!! Love your videos...im a fan since Grenade :) GREAT JOB

  • you are such a great signer!

I would love if you showed your Glossing....I really want to understand everything your signing. I'm an ASL 3 student and i understand pretty much everything but I want to know all your signs so i can expand my vocabulary.

    Thanks<3

  • Your use of classifiers is phenomenal. I am going to a classifier workshop next weekend in hopes of learning something. Where did you learn your ASL? And for the 100th time, I will say it again: I love your videos, you are amazing!!! =)

  • I agree with @CLDeafies. If this is bad, could you explain what "good ASL" is?! LOL! I mean, I'm hearing and not completely fluent in ASL (yet!!!), but I do realize the difference between good ASL and bad ASL and, honey, this is GOOD ASL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep doing what you're doing because you have GREAT facial expressions (some Signers don't), you really seem "into it" (some aren't), and you don't use PSE and try to pass it off as ASL (many do).

  • Omg your so good <3 love your videos

can you do aaliyah try again

  • Would please explain the sign at 0:46 where you use your index finger to pull up the index fingure of the other hand? I've seen it used but can't figure out what it means.

  • @mgreenester I believe it means "to take a break" but I would make sure with her for clarification (:

  • @mgreenester It litterally means "suspend"... but it can be used for, hold on, wait a minute, pause, or like someone else said, take a break.

  • DANG! you tell em.

  • u should be on switched at birth ( a new t.v. series about 2 girls who were switched at birth and one of them is deaf)!!!!!!!

  • This haircut suits you VERY well.

  • Absolutely LOVE this video. All your videos are great, but love this one in particular. I've been interpreting for 4 years, certified, bachelors and masters in interpreting - but wish I could interpret music like you do. What did you do to become so conceptually accurate with music? Self-study? Workshops? Other people? Do you take requests for songs? Keep it up. I love coming back and watching your songs!

  • You are very, very talented. I love to watch you-- whatever you do. (You really felt that this performance was "off"?!? If this is bad, what's good?!?) It is soooo nice to see real ASL on youtube. (Or anywhere.) I am sick to death of all of the English Signing. (And people who have no skill "teaching".) UGH.

Keep at it. You need to make a series of DVDs for newbies one of these days. I would buy them for my students.

I am Deaf and an ASL teacher.

  • @CLDeafies

i know that u said that u r deaf and u r sick of english signing and that people with no skill r on youtube doing asl.

but plz remember that ur comment was affensive in a way, and did u know that ASL is different parts of the country ,i have acctually known people who know 2 different asl languages,i can not read this girls signs but it is full of emotion she learned it this way,but remember that just because someone doesnt do it the same as u doesnt mean that ur way of asl is right.

  • @tmrmga12 and my mother does asl and she can not read this girls sign, because of different ways to interpret asl they make different books on asl,by ur comment u just told america that ur asl is right for sure , i have a book that says american sign language on the front, and the signs in her video r different from some of the signs in my book,so does this mean false ads on so many books and videos,no it just means that it is interpreted in so many different ways,

  • @tmrmga12 and i sign asl and deaf people understand me but me and this girls signs r nothin alike ,one can not determine what asl is actually right

  • @tmrmga12 Umm, I find it hard to see how this could be offensive to anyone. It is common knowledge that the majority of ASL music videos aren't actually in ASL, rather they are exact English translations. CLDeafies, I believe, was simply praising the effort this girl put into making sure her videos were actually in ASL. Also, I don't see where CLDeafies said anywhere that their sign language was better than anyone else's. "real ASL" simply refers to using ASL as opposed to signing in English.

  • @wolfenprincess1 I personally, however, am curious as to how you can know ASL and yet not know one sign in this video, and I would like to know which videos you are using. You are keeping in mind, of course, that the girl is using American Sign Language and, to my knowledge, there isn't more than one American Sign Language, even if you take into account regional dialects? (Not to say there aren't other Sign Languages.)

  • @wolfenprincess1

well im sorry but that persons comment ws offensive to me and maybe others , because signing things have been around since native americans and maybe longer but no one can say whos asl is right and wich is wich just because an asl pro labels it that way doesnt mean its correct or incorrect , it all depends on the area u r in

  • @tmrmga12 No, sorry, but that just isn't right tmrmga. There IS proper ASL, just like there is proper English, proper Spanish, or any other language. You can't just say, "Well everyone signs differently" because then there would be nothing to separate ASL from, for example, Brazilian Sign Language. The language that Native American used (PISL) has been around for a long time, but it is a distinct language from ASL and I'm confused why you mention it, especially since ASL more related to LSF.

  • @wolfenprincess1

i didnt say its completely different everywhere u go but i have seen two different people sign in different asl , so because ur asl is more commely used does that make yours right , ok so then i say pink is acctually green as of now because i say it is, ur response would be but everyone knows its green, see asl changes slightly very very slightly in different areas, and i understand what this girl is signing because its simalir to the asl i use , but i cant read her signs

  • @tmrmga12

I'm pretty sure that since @CLDeafies is Deaf, she KNOWS that there is different ASL all over the country. The problem is not the specific signs that people use, but the grammatical structure of the language itself. Too many people are using ESL or PSE, and trying to pass it off as ASL on youtube. ASL is the language of the Deaf, and although people do use different signs all over the country, the basic grammar is still the same.

  • @thebritishgirl3 yes i understand that but weather you do PSE or SEE ESL or ASL

it is all a form of sign language , sign language is signing with your hands , AND ASL IS NOT THE LANGUAGE OF THE DEAF, sign language is the language of the deaf , when u say ASL is the language of the deaf you are inculeding all deaf people on earth , i know deaf people who do not use ASL , i am just trying to prove a point that ASL is not the main nor is it the better language for deaf people

  • @tmrmga12 All forms of sign language ( PSE ,SEE,ESL,or ASL) are correct , and yes ASL is a beautiful form of sign language , but then again ASL is not the exact interpretation of a song , thats why a lot of people prefer ESL because its an exact translation and then you acctually know what the song is saying , im not saying any r better than the other , im just trying to get it around to people that sign language is sign language and there is no better or wrong one

  • @tmrmga12 PSE SEE ESL MCE are not real languages. It's hearing people borrowing from signs and trying to call it a language. When a Deaf/deaf consumer watches PSE SEE ESL MCE and has learned ASL, (or other signed languages), there native language-a visual language, they will not understand. ASL has different grammar. Signing exact English doesn't make any sense visually. There is no written form of ASL just GLOSS. GLOSS is no where close to describing what is being signed.

  • @Calalillies1 i understand what your trying to say, but how rude of you to say they are not real languages. if someone speaks it , its a language , and deaf people dont just use ASL , okay. i see deaf people using SEE PSE AND ESL , if they are being used by ACTUAL DEAF PEOPLE then its a language , ASL is no better than the rest and ESL is not better than ASL , they are all equal languages to the deaf ,

  • You're beautiful, the interpretation's beautiful, the song's beautiful, the whole video is just so damn awesome!

  • The best part of this is the "cocky" walk off! OMG you are so AMAZING!! My Deaf daughter would benefit from me being THAT good! I'm good and conceptualize well, and use ASL correctly, but you are AMAZING!!

  • make mor videos i love your videos there the best plzzz make more!!!!

  • Great job! P.s. I like the short hair!

  • So I've seen you do this sign a few times and I was wondering what it meant. I mean I get the idea of it in the song, but the actual meaning?

You have on thumbs up and your other hand has the same hand shape of "ten" or "thumbs up" and you kinda make it wave up toward the other thumb and then one of your hands immediately makes a thumb down.

    hopefully that question made sense:P

  • Shes beautiful and her hand movements look so eloquent !(:

  • WOW!!!! You are soooo amazingly talented, I got chills from the moment you started signing, I knew you were going to be nothing short of amazing. You have one of the best grasps of pure ASL I have seen on YouTube. Absolutely perfect, good job!!!

Are you a CODA or ASL Interpreter? Where did you get your skills from?

  • Comment removed

  • You have an amazing talent, keep it up!! One little bit of advice that I noticed in this video and not so much in the others was that you mouthed alot of the words, You have beautiful facials and when you mouth the words it takes away from them... Your videos are great though, I love watching them

  • i love it

  • Are you a theatre major? You should be. That and a poet. Your use of your spatial component is near perfect and your segue from one essence of meaning to the next is smooth and seemingly effortless. How long do you have to practice a song to get it seemless like you do? My favorite is your rendition of "Grenade" - pure art.

  • I thought this was fantastic.

  • 2 people don't know the definition of true art. :D Keep doing what you do best :)

  • Could you post a 'how to'? I dont think you need to re-do it. Its really great! :) Wonderful job!

  • Love it! I want to sign like that someday :)

  • THIS IS INCREDIBLE! GREAT JOB!

  • Observing as a Deaf/HOH person, I like how you expressed the song using eye ^^ vv movements, moving to the beat with body shift. I do agree with you on the feeling of interpretation. It's a little bit off. Perhaps try different signs or expressions? Do keep them coming, I'm really discovering your videos and what an excellent job you're doing with music. I'm giving both thumbs up and both hand waves up high. Cheers! Santabear

  • Wow ! You Are So Amazing , Make More Videos !

  • WoooooooW your amaaazing!!!!

  • you are Amazing!

  • I LOVE IT

  • never thought i would be atractied to a door.

bring it back please please i miss it (and now i feel like an idiot)

  • this is fantastic. It is like your dancing.

  • @mynameismynamely I think it's funny how pretty much everyone else on here who has viewed her musical ASL interpretations, inlcuding myself, feel like she has done a fantastic job, and you're ONE of the only people on here who have to go and make a negative comment and call people names. Honestly, name calling is reserved for 5-year-olds. Have a nice day.

  • "For without culture or holiness, which are always the gift of a very few, a man may renounce wealth or any other external thing, but he cannot renounce hatred, envy, jealousy, revenge. Culture is the sanctity of the intellect." [William Butler Yeats] …

By the way... I bet this song was written about you...

  • @mynameismynamely, It's sad that people like you have to create a negative atmosphere toward someone trying to share a beautiful talent with others. I'll leave you with a profound quote I found, just for you...

  • @mynameismynamely ... If you believe poetry is a part of Deaf Culture, then google ASL poetry and look for the name Dr. Clayton Valli. I think he would disagree with your statement. Even though someone who is deaf can't hear the music, they can certainly appreciate the beautiful, poetic, ARTISTIC expression through visual input such as the song above that kmklined chose to share with us.

  • @mynameismynamely ... Definition of "Culture" - The quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in ARTS, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, ETC...

My question to you - Do you consider poetry a part of Deaf Culture??

  • Dude I wish I had ON days this good. You are so awesomely good. And I agree with the others, cute hair. :)

  • IIIIIII LLLOOOVVEE THHHEEE HAAAIIRRR!!!!!! Awesome Job like always... -Leo

  • she cut her hair.......nice love it

    i love your videos

and love the way you do your face expressions and videos

  • Awesome....the beautiful thing about "interpretation" it's yours, you rocked it, OWN IT!!

  • I hope Beyonce sees this.

This was like watching the music video.

Except minus B - But you had so much emotion.

I love it. This is super amazing. :D!

  • Do you dance? You are really hip.. I LIKE IT!!!

  • love ur additudeee!!!(;

  • I never thought I would have an attachment to a door... I kinda miss the doorway. Weird. Great song!

  • If my "on" days were half as good as your "off" days, I'd be a MUCH happier interpreter. Is there any way you could gloss this? Or "Grenade"? I would love to see the actual breakdown!

  • hey i really love your videos ive taken asl for 3 years in hs ( in im college now )

do you ever include your gloss for them? i like to teach myself songs however interepting is a hard part for me.

  • This is amazing. I don't see how you could make it any better lol DON't CHANGE IT!!!

  • That was AMAZING!!! i wish i was that good when i signed !!!

  • I love ASL, however, I feel like the lyrics of the song are completely thrown away and everything is interpreted into something completely different.

  • @ohhhshitson

yu are soooo right i belive she did change the meaning of the song

but i love her facial expressions

  • you should interpret Annie- Saftysuit! or King Of Anything by Sara Barielles!

  • You are great!! I turned the volume down and just watched you and could still feel the emotions from your signing.

  • amazing :) you must have worked really hard in school to have become such a wonderful interpreter. your expressions are amazing and you bring such energy and passion to your signing. Thank You. Your An Inspiration To Me.

  • You have such a gift!(: Amazing!!

  • you look like my old science teacher mrs.cooke (cook).she was really fun but never let anyone get away with any bs. she made learning fun :)

  • obozujem jo...:-)

  • i love the way you get all the details in the song when you sign. i hope that some day you could teach me to sign like you do. i love your videos. hope you keep making them <3

  • Off day? Really? Wow! Your facial expressions were amazing!!!! Your affect totally matched the concept of the song

  • OMG I love you new hair style. Looks great.

  • Amazing!!! <3 I use BSL not ASL but wow that woz unbelievable xxx

  • you look a LOT like Julia Stiles..! and that's a good thing b/c she's gorgeous & so are you! ps. your signing is amazing!
