Britain against it's League of nations mandate took 77% of Palestine and gave it to the Arabs, confiscating Jewish land and declaring the land Judenrhein(free of Jews) This was not enough for the Arabs in the region. He did it using several different tanks after he would climb out of a tank each time it was hit and find another. Compared to Wittman fighting equals with the similar training and equipment, not only that but the tanks the the germans had weren't decades ahead of the enemy tanks.

Eventually defeated by IAF and ground advances at great cost. The AT-3 were effective against frontal attack not flank. Egypt stategy was to present no flank but left a gap at Chinese Farm north of Bitter Lake. Sharon is famous for crossing Suez there but other units sacrifices holding the gap. And it was Adan who captured the Egypt 3rd.

They got one thing terribly wrong about the war. Syria and Egypt did not intend to regain lost territory: they aimed to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Therefore if Israel lost they would have been brutally anihalated by the Arabs.

When the State of Isreal was created in1948, the Arabs (Egypt, Jordan, Syria) invaded. And although they failed to destroy Isreal, they occuppied territory that is now recognized as the Palestinian territory and claimed it as their own until 67. There was never a country called Palestine. The region was named Palestine by Romans to insult ancient Jews after their biblical enemy.

@MitchofSmeg Not ignoring the fact but in spite of. It was Arab who didnt recognize Palestine or Israel. Eygpt and Jordan occupied the territory until 1967. They had 20 years to allow for the creation of Palestine. Instead they claimed ownership of the territory and launch attacks from. Instead of absorbing the refugies they put into camps and radicalize the population. Only later did Arabs give up their claims. Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005 to create PA autonomy but Hamas seized control...

@MitchofSmeg Fair enough but an independent county called Palestine never did exist. And although the UN mandate did call for a Palestine state. It was never enforced and not demanded until Arabs lost control of the territory. Israel goes through great effort to avoid civil deaths. Terrorist hid behind civilians. Gaza is a terrorist stronghold. Hamas launch rocket attacks almost daily. Blame them for conditions. What death ratio would you accept if it was your family being attacked by Hamas.

@MitchofSmeg You are confused with Transjordan/Jordan which King Abdullah wanted to call Palestine. Britain against it's League of nations mandate took 77% of Palestine and gave it to the Arabs, confiscating Jewish land and declaring the land Judenrhein(free of Jews) This was not enough for the Arabs in the region. They wanted all of the original Palestinian mandate. Palestinian leadership sided with Hitler during WW2 & prevented many Jews from escaping European death camps.
