I have two rock guitar friends and we got into an argument about Nick Rhodes. They didn't understand why his work was so influential. I remembered this clip and played it for them. They liked it but they still didn't get it, however it helped me make the point that his approach to synth playing was more artistic if not as musical. This track is classic Nick Rhodes and has all his signature elements: random arp pattern, phased strings, brass swells perfectly placed, rhythmic and dreamy.
