Richard Pryor Live in 78 is the funniest performance in the history of comedy. Pryor and Jonathan Winters were the 2 most influential comedic geniuses of all time.
i dont think outliving someone or having more experience really counts in comedy whammydoom, these lists are kinda pointless anyway if you ask me, personally both Richard and George cracked me up and they have both picked me up when i have had a rough day so the way i see it enjoy em both but dont compare as comedy aint really a competition its an art and these guys were 2 of the best artists ever
All due props to Pryor, but he wasn't created in a vacuum. Dick Gregory paved the way for him. In fact, in the Bible of Edgy Black Comics, Gregory begat Pryor and Mooney, who in turn begat Rock and Chappelle.
how do you get the one where he is talking about jesse....and...you seen jesse nah you see that nigge tell him he owes me 25dollaz.and i needs my money badder than hawg need slop......quotes me and my bro used to listen to the tape every nite before we went to bed we have been tryin to find ever since its been 20yrs since...lemme know asap
I think it's Clarence 13X, founder of the Five Percent Nation of Gods & Earths. But, I had to look twice myself!:) S. Jackson could definitely pass for him, if ever the film role was made.
I've never heard anyone describe the Atlantic Hotel moment as a "nervous breakdown" before. Everyone else who talks about it just mentions that he said, "What the fuck am I doing?" and walked off.
Brand: "Ive never seen him in that incarnation, I cant imagine being like that, I cant this I cant that, blah blah"
As much as he annoys me, thats not why I'm particularly irritated here... he just had nothing to add. Just a familiar face. What does his income, or Sachs have to do with this btw?
You're attempting to justify your comment about brand and are asking me the relevance of Sachs? As far as I heard, Brand did add something constructive to the debate.
He comes off as annoying because he now's nothing of the time. He knows nothing of the black struggle of the time. If Sammy Davis Jr. got treated like shit, and he was part of the Rat Pack, imagine a black man going solo. That would be without the help of Sinatra, Lewis, etc.. Growing up as a black man in that era was difficult., of course he had to do in order to get in the door. Like any other comedian, it took a bit to get his act down. Who cares of Brands take on an era he couldn't imagine!
Pryor´s still one of the BIG ONES. Even pro standup comics say that, I hear, looking up to this guy. Glad to hear Murphy´s gonna come back in standup as well! Anybody ever noticed most of these genius standups are BLACK guys!? Chappelle´s another fave of mine. Was Carlin our only "great white hope"...
His father a pimp, his mother a prostitute, his grandmother operates a whorehouse... grew up watching hookers do their trade. Wow, that got to be an awesome life experience. That's why his stories are so hardcore. No comedian can top that.
also the incident where he just walked off stage and the reasons for why he did it sounds a lot like when chappelle left the country for a while. its like they went through the exact same thing.
he opened the door for chris rock and chappelle, if he didnt go through what he went through, others that came after him wouldnt have been able to make it.
The first time I heard 'Nigger With a Seizure' from the LP or CD 'That nigger is crazy,' I nearly choke to death, from laughíng too hard, plus I was drunk!
I actually have that stand up on cd it's great but he said he was really nervous in that show with all the camera's on him. He said something like 'Being filmed is a drag, can u turn the camera's off then i can get down'.
i seen a documentary with rain pryor with short blond hair and she looked funny

no, there are plenty of white people that could have something interesting to say about Pryor.
Brand isn't one of them.
Noah97 2 years ago
Brand is a very intelligent bloke, annoying to most but nonetheless intelligent and probably with a massive bank balance compared to you and I.
Do you hate him because you love Michael Sachs?
