I'm adopting a husky pup once I moved out of my parent's house and I will make sure its a bitch because I heard if you get an opposite sex dog it makes them likely to listen to you. My cousin has a bitch and she listen to him more.

*Note: I don't meant bitch as a derogatory, its a name for a female dog before it became a derogatory. I'm a guy and I love dogs because they are very territorial and lovable to their owners to their owners.

@ohwhatabutterfly  hey i got a puppy about little under a year ago. her names luna and she just truned a year but are you kennel training your pup. if you are then at night when they cry let him out to wear you want him to go at and when he does a lot of praise and petting then put him back in his kennel and he will cry and it sad to hear but you just have to let him. trust me i know it hard. i got minw when i was still in school and she got up every 2 hours i felt like i had a new born baby

@Kellykleinman Nah mate, i got one my self and they are just lovely dogs, you can train them to bite people to protect you, but all husky are not aggressive, it's a proven fact . Hope this helps you .

I had to take care of 5 pups just like those. I used to feel so bad hearing them cry like that so I'd let them roam around the downstairs. They had fun, but I had to clean up about 10 piles of shit that magically appeared about 5 minutes after releasing them.

OK, so I live in louisianal though I've heard their coats can work both ways to cool them off and warm them up. We have a 6ft tall fence around our yard, shade for one to lay in, plenty of water, and a safe road to take one for walks on. Will a husky survive the summer with plenty of shade, water, and if I hose he/she off every now and then or take him near the local lake to swim a little?

@3bady77777 Siberian Huskies are very popular in Canada and some very hot area's including Toronto and Montreal. Very popular also in Miami and LA so i guess as long as they get plenty of water and lots of paddling in the sea they will be fine. Check local laws b4 attempting to take animals into new countries. @huskymannia Dogs with long or even thick fur, use this fur to regulate their body heat. In fact, dogs with long hair are better off in hot places then dog with short hair do to the effect of sun on a short haired dogs skin. Short haired dogs cannot regulate their own tempurate very well and often get bad sun burns if kept in hot climates.

A very bad idea because you can#t walk the dog in the parks or at the beach. Dogs are to be confined in your garden but you will have big trouble to rent a house.

I don't know if it is too late. I'm from Thailand. Many huskies here end up being shaved all over their body in summer. (seriously, not only husky, also pomeranian, golden retriever, etc.) You can keep them in air condition room but it's too cruel to put them in indoor space all day.

Answer is they don't die. But very warm place is very uncomforable for them. sorry. :C

@nopiluvin I dont actually kennel my dogs. They have either a room or kitchen space with bedding. they tend to prefer company more so !!

@huskymannia Alright, That makes sense. I did learn that you are not suppose to let them sleep with you. It will show you're not the dominate one in the relationship and they will walk all over you. I just don't want them to tear up the walls at night or during the day when I am away for work.

I would make a very strong suggestion, please dont get a husky just bc they are cute!!! These are very demandive pets, and take a lot of training. There very smart, require a lot of exercise, have to have a fenced in yard to play in, and its not suggested to leave them alone, they get bored very quickly, and like to dig, or chew no matter the age. They love and welcome strangers, they are by no means a watch dog. If you dont train at an early age you will have a disobeident

I have had my husky for about five years, and sometimes he thinks hes the pack leader, which for a husky is bad news, you have to establish very early that you are the pack leader not them, or they will not listen or obey a word you say! Please dont be harsh with your husky, with persistent they learn quickly and make wonderful lifelong partners. I am proud to be loved and owned by a Husky. They are very emotional and loving dogs.
