It's not a fast pace, lot's of effects movie, still Johnny plays the part with heart, I collect his movies, and there are some I don't care much for as far as the movie goes, but what ever Johnny plays in he does it well so I'm not a Depp fanatics per say

Ugh, I hated this film. I remember seeing it the theater and waiting for a plot to develop. It was too self conscious and tried to be far too cutesy about mental illness. I like Depp (which is why I bothered seeing it) but this film was a complete clunker. The only people who seem to like it are Depp fanatics who can't be objective about his films. Poor Masterson fell off the radar a few years after starring in this movie.

@ritter89 I agree with you that a lot of the plot wasn't really there, but I think it's one of those movies isn't meant to require a lot of thinking on the part of the moviegoer. Not sure how popular an actor Depp was at the point this movie was made, but the film seems to be catered to Depp fans. Hell, they could have probably omitted the entire storyline and just had Depp act like Buster Keaton, and it probably would have grossed as much (if not more).

@kurukururock after / during 21 jump street, he was becoming more and more famous, but unlike most other actors that get to that point in there career, he chose to NOT accept major roles, instead.. chose the far out, interesting characters... the characters that made him muuuuuch more famous then the rest.

yeah these just seemed like B-rolls. not so much screen tests. he seemed to already be filming the movie when these were done. i love his bread dance, he got the steps right. he's just lacking in the body and eye movement. no one could perfect it like Chaplin. he was the man. :)
