@limbu5 I always immediately start singing "only a fool would say that" when he starts the vocals. Haha. I thought I was the only one who noticed that.
i hear a stones influence.that sure sounded different than their old stuff! i like this sound better anyhoo. this band makes me think of kelly from colorado.
Most people jump at the chance to call it a ripoff, but its paying tribute to. Its not a coincidence in the title either. I think its really clever song writing by Jesse.
You'll also notice that Anything 'cept The Truth shares an opening with the stones' Honkey Tonk Women and Prissy Prancin references Zeppelins Dancing Days.
Josh has become more than just the drummer on this album. Troy and Joey amongst others play on some traks. Kudos, Best EODM album(So far, lol). It would be great to see the two guys(+cast) doing a decent tour in Europe for this album

great song,
BUT
it's a shame they ripped this from Steely Dan's "Only A Fool Would Say That"
check it out- youtube.com/watch?v=1EsoOmLKsHM
Maybe it's a hommage? cause this one's got a "Fool" in title as well?
:)

@limbu5 actually this is about his relationship with kat Von D, that he couldnt have.

Timoth1983 1 year ago 3
@limbu5 Well it's obviously a borrow because of the exact same tune and the "fool" part of the lyrics. xD

@limbu5 i like to think of it as a hommage... it has a very different feel to it, although the melody is almost the same

If it were a tribute, the original song would be mentioned in the notes in the cd booklet.

It sounds to me like a classic from the Stones mid-60s (Between the Buttons) period.

One of the best songs on the new album. Gonna be seeing them at the New Oasis (Reno) in February!

it is good, but it's not death metal...
Madbiker17 3 years ago
I know huh? They're like The Eagles...of death metal.
DrSamuels305 3 years ago 5
To them they were between the type of music by 'The Eagles' and the music style of death metal.
If you havent noticed, EDM isnt trying to be a death metal band at all.

Anyone who likes this song. Listen to Steely Dan's "Only a Fool Would Say That". I think you might see some questionable parallels.

Yeah, I can certainty hear the similarities, but I really think this sounds better.
