Malthus0: Ha ha... I get that sometimes... but I think it is more my widows peak and balding head more than my voice. If you listen to the youtube poet IraqIsWhack -- HE really sounds like a cross between Jack Nicholson and Christian Slater.... Peace! :P
I hope you're happy, feeding a million cases of arachnaphobia! But seriously, there's a tension to this piece that matches the speaker's measured pacing, which then adds up to the tedium many of us feel during bouts of melancholia and depression that amounts to Understanding.
9926arch: thank you. so do I. and she had a voice to DIE for--there is a great video on youtube where is interviewed at her house. anyway, thanks for the comment.

How can I describe this poem, it is nothing less than brilliant. It filled my imagination with dark brooding thoughts of creepy eight legged creatures and sad poetesses. I am glad Sylvia Sexton no longer resides with you; otherwise, after a bad day at the office, the temptation to embrace an arachnid might prove too great.
Brilliant delivery and writing and I always like the care taken in setting up the shot - this one looked superb too :)
5 stars!
I confess I was given shivers from the spider imagery - I am one of those ridiculous people who is irrationally un-fond of such creatures. I think it's all those legs..no maybe all those eyes, or no maybe the spinning of webbed traps to ensnare its prey - ugh, how I've survived in Australia of all places is beyond me, lol!
Dear David Thanks for the invite you are such a good poet and performer of poetry I always enjoy your videos. Poor sad Sylvia Plath alas how tragic that her son also committed suicide recently. I have videoed her beautiful talented daughter Freda Hughes performing poetry at the British library.
Oh, I am incredibly envious of your talent. I forgot the amazing sound of your voice. XD Your delivery is really one of the best parts of your poetry.
Ok. Thanks for share. I have nothing profound to say. Some of these videos are beyond my understanding. I think most people suffer from depression, and some people try in vain to find simple pleasures in life.
Powerful poem! I found two in my house. The first one I was able to capture and released to my garden. Another day, the second one unfortunately triggered my reflexes by waking me while running across my bed. Splat! A goner! David, a word of warning: things started with a kiss can lead to sex. You know what they do to their mates afterward? Be fast David, if you kiss her, be fast my friend. But what a way to go!
you olways serve the subject matter so beautifully! the ending lines captured the feelings of a suicidal patient perfectly, this poen can only be written by some one who has dealt in that experiance (suicide hotline refference) 5*
I checked out sylvia plath, AND SHE IS A GODDES!!!!
I mean, god damn that women realy knows how to blow your mind! lol.
she realy demenstrates brilliantly what we were skyping about on life experiance.
I find it hard to express my love of this poem without utilising a comicesque interjection like 'wow'. That ending is perfect, '--dangling.' If Emil Cioran wrote poems and had even more of a sense of humour than he did and was still alive he would write something like this. Five stars and favourite.
Now I am going to sub blechhh666 without delay. Long live Cowpox!
"miss sexton's skin is darker... than guilty pleasure"....

MzSkribble: Thanks for the comment! And I hope your show goes well. Yeah, every video poem I've done is memorised. I find it helps with re-writing when one memorises.... Peace!!!
My up-all-night-and-still-awake-at-dawn brain did not allow me to fully appreciate this the first time around, beloved. Tis truly excellent. Delivery 5*. I'll massage your ego more re this anon! ;-)
