This has been my hair color for the last 4 months. I'd really like to find an Elumen equivalent but i haven't found good reliable info on the web. Do you have any suggestions on which to mix? I watched your elumen video but I couldn't really compare the two and both video's look. (the lighting not the hair, haha) I do love this color though. And I love your color in your elumen video, i'd like mine slightly brighter though. ANy help would be appreciated, also you're gorgeous. Thanks!! :)

@missknivesandpens I put Vampire Red in unbleached dark brown hair and it comes out a purpley-red, sort of like red wine (as long as you leave it in for about 2 hours, apply heat with a hairdryer every now and then, and wash in cold water). Fades to a reddy-plum purple after about 4-5 weeks. So over red passion, it won't give you the results in this vid, but it should definitely make your hair redder. :] (Also, cos it's organic, it will make it beautifully shiny and soft.)

I wanna dye my hair this color. But the inside of my hair, not all over. Like when i eventually do it im gonna pull up the top part of my hair and just do the inside. It'll be my first time ever dying my hair! Im gonna bleach it too, and i plan on using Manic Panic from Sally Beauty Suppy. So first off I bleach it, then let it sit in for maybe 30 mins, then wash it out, towel dry, use the hair dye, let it sit in for 30 mins, then take a shower, is this correct?
@dreamwishergirl bleach it until it's to a yellow ish hue. there really isn't much of a time limit on the bleach, just until you think it's gonna be good to go. then after you wash it out, dry it completely. after you've dried it and applied the red, you're gonna need to leave it in for longer than 30 minutes. i'm talking like hours if you want it to stay for longer than one shampoo or two. i left mine in over night. so just use your best judgement. @AlterErin ok thanks! When you mean wash out the bleach, do you mean with water or shampoo, conditioner, etc? And drying it completely after washing out the bleach, do you use a blow dryer or towel drying or letting it naturally drying?
@AlexisAwesome68 well, depends on how red you want it. Manic Panic Vampire Red is quite good working on dark blonde hair, but if you want a really bright red like she has you will have to bleach your hair first :)

I dyed it myself (it was my first time dying my hair without help :P) and I didnt have gloves so I had to use my bare hands. Afterwards my hands looked like I got away with murder

@SillySelena14 No, manic panic, raw, special effects, punky colors all fall under the acidic side of the pH scale. They have no ammonia and will do no damage.

@happygoldendaystudio I think so. I've been using it for 10+ years. I've never used Raw myself, but every time I've seen it on someone else it turns out some sort of awful. Manic Panic has the best reds and the widest selection too.
@StacyLove09 It'll dry it out hella bad for sure. There's really no way to avoid damage completely. But as long as you condition it pretty well thereafter and are easy on it with hot tools, then you should be fine.
@StacyLove09 Personally, I only left the bleach on until i noticed it was blondish. Really, you just want to get the cuticle of your hair to open up. So, having black hair won't be too much of a challenge. Just leave the bleach on until you see that it's starting to turn your hair a dark orange/redish color. Then you can wash it and apply the red immediately.
@brielgib You probably should if you want the color to stay vibrant. Although, if you want, you can do a test strip on some hair from your nape (that way it's not super noticeable if it doesn't come out right) and that will give you a better idea of what your hair would look like if you didn't pre-bleach it.
keep in mind that you don't necessarily want to go blond with the bleach. you just want to open the cuticle of your hair up.
@brielgib get manic panic vampire red with deoxygen 30 vol + true color higlights magenta ( 2tbs of manic panic + 2 cups of deoxygen, mix then add whole tube of true color highlights) then apply (:
@Occulta7 theres a couple things you could do. in order to achieve a manic panic red at all, you'd need to pre lighten it. but if you want it to be a darker red, you only need to lighten it for about 10 minutes. that way you haven't made it to a light orange yet. you want to stay in the brown shades. then you can pretty much guarantee that the red will be a deep shade. hope that helps
@revolutioncomming This manic panic color in particular doesn't fade to orange. It just becomes less intense and more dull. Sometimes the color itself can get a little bit lighter.
I put about a third of the bottle in my shampoo. That way i still have enough left for the next time i need a root touch up, and i can still pull it through the ends.
You need to put some of the dye into your shampoo. That'll help a lot. Also I used a product called Madder Root by Aveda. Leave it in for 45 after shampooing. When you need to do a retouch of your root, thats also a good time to pull it through the ends.

now the color does fade.. my does a lot .. now what all do u use to keep the color and when do u re dye it??

You need to put some of the dye into your shampoo. That'll help a lot. Also I used a product called Madder Root by Aveda. Leave it in for 45 after shampooing. When you need to do a retouch of your root, thats also a good time to pull it through the ends.
