@phatenderske: Good question! Zen practitioners talk about "no mind": just doing it with bare attention; just letting it happen. That's where much of my best music comes from. I work on lots of things quite consciously when I practice; I also do repetitive patterns that train and upgrade my reflexes. But when I play, I just play and let the music flow out, without over-thinking it.
This is great!! Although this was probably just intended to show what the teacher is able of doing, I think it's one of the most valuable harmonica lessons here. We get to see and hear how to integrate a melodic line with a rhythmic background, keeping the beat. This is something the great blues players know how to do. I am going to try to use this as an example to set up a bunch of riffs within the progression, using different rhythmic backgrounds. Maybe I'll learn to play...
... are you really speaking french Adam?? Holly molly! This was a master one-man here, you just kind-of summarized your unique style in one single video, I dig it.
Au contraire je trouve que parler en français rajoute encore plus de mystère au mythe AG ;-)
Adam .. keep it on .. we sttilll people like you .. People live now on so much stress .. they cant even stop to enjoy this magnificent piece or art ..
tnks for the vids .. i enyoy every single one of them
Hello, do you get good money by playing in the street? I don't know if people realize your quality of playing when they pass you by and reward you accordingly?
Could not agree with you more. This man is playing his heart out and people just walk on by as if nothing is happening. You would have had to pry me way from that performance! People are walking robots. Not in tune to anything real. Brovo!! Steller performance!! From the heart. Captbadhand
You're one of the most inspiring and encouraging musician in the world. Why? Because you convinced me that it's nothing that I can't afford to buy a sax and pay for lessons. Little and cheap 10-hole harmonica is equally or even more powerful. I'm learning from your lessons, and feel my dream is gradually coming true. Thank you for that. Please keep on posting your videos, no matter if these will be lessons or performances - both are great :)
True! The harp--for which I pay about $28 US--can do things that a sax can't (such as combine chords and single notes), and of course it has "that sound." In this video, I'm playing the guitar part for "Honky Tonk," or a harp adaptation of it. Glad to know you're beginning to realize your dream. That's great.
this is really amazing! Adam Gussow used to be black, and then when his abusive mom bathed him in a lead solution, turning him bright white. it was a medical miracle that the poor kid survived let alone learn to play a couple of songs on the harmonica, even if they were quite weak and soppy. I am so glad I could see this. Keep up the good work Adam!
Dude! That was so awesome!!! As one of your 1st yr. students, you have inspired me to push harder to get to the place where I could go out and try this. Thank you Adam. :)
Who would dislike this? I mean, I understand being neutral on the music style...

"just doing it..." "and let the music flow out" this ist the real "Kunst" in german.
this comes from "können".
You can. you just do. sometimes I try but I should practice more just to have the
courage to myself.

Shure PE5-H

Sounds sweet, sounds like you get a great cup with that mic.
I recently started with a Biscuit fitted with a Shure element (from fat-bottom), prefer it to the standard bullet.

Great sound! What a cool groove you hit and then just worked! I'm gonna order the lesson for St. Louis Blues off of the MBH website.

Nope. People don't appreciate good artists anymore. Society has been stripped of its creativity and the appreciation of it.
