  • Bieber; the kid has no good songs,

    Miley, her music's very wrong,

Still I, think they are okay,

Because they did not come up with "Friday"...

  • LOL.....Beaver....LOL!!!!

  • On a bus trip to Mexico City up in the highest mountain roads you can imagine some guy started whistling this and the whole bus joined in. Must been their way to help divert our fear off the crazy ride. I think most everyone was on tequila including the driver. I was 19. I realized flying was the safest way to go. LOL

  • Colonel Bogey! Awesome march.

  • meely!

  • I hate english but this movi is awsome

  • :o im playing this in band :D

  • I remember I once whistled this song on the way to class on the first day of school. I got like thirty people to join in with me and we all marched to our classes together.

  • eheheheh este fime adoro, e este tema entao... sabado vou rever d novo. long time, eheh

  • 8 people are terrorist?Commies? Justin Beaver fans?

  • @SmokeBojangles japs

  • @SmokeBojangles Option D: All of the above.

  • @SmokeBojangles Acc-tu-ally, they are commie pinko bastard chaps who should be shot at dawn by a military firing squad - immediately after a fair trial and unnamious conviction by 12 good men and true. Hear bloody hear!!!!!

  • 8 people need a psychiatrist! :)

  • The only thing I can think of this theme is this:

Hitler, has only got one ball!

Goring, has two but very small!

    Himmler, has something sim'lar,

And poor Goebbels had no balls at all.

Hitler, has only got one ball!

The other, is in Albert Hall.

    His mother, the dirty bugger,

Cut it off when he was small!

  • @NathanH97 We sang it like that too!!

  • @NathanH97 I see, so having very small balls makes one like Goering, a mass murderer?

  • @NathanH97,

I didn't realize how awesome that was until I sung it and realized Himmler rhymes with sim'lar haha

  • @NathanH97 lmao! great luv it

  • @NathanH97 LOOOOL

  • 8 people are knobs

  • Hoorah! Even the British have awesome song!

  • UNFORGETTABLE MUSIC!

  • we have a tendency to overanalyse...this was great music for the times...i marched to it as a school-boy...my uncle faught in the jap theatre...and I remember him singing...cheer up! the skies will clear up & britain will fight and win...basically about overcoming adversity when you are down and out...and hence relevant whatever the theatre

  • I think this is so catchy because the counter theme immediately comes to dominate the main theme (french horns over trumpets)- then flips again.

    Tom David

    Minneapolis

  • The problem with the use of this in the movie is that the lyrics to the march referred to Hitler and his Generals and the movie was set in the Japanese theatre.

  • I heard tale of many British veterans that were in this battle actually despised this movie because they felt it was mockery of the actual suffering they went through.

  • @Omnikron228 It wasn't only that, Alec Guiness' part in it made that guy look a pratt, which apparently he wasn't. He would've blown that bridge like a shot to help the allies, he was a loyal British soldier to the end, nothing like he was portrayed in this. Add to that the bridge wasn't destroyed by sappers at all, it was hit by the Air Force and you can understand a lot of vets not thinking much of it.

  • @jboweruk It's a shame. It had great potential to it. I've wondered if many vets have the same feelings for The Longest Day, The Great Escape, and Guns of Navarone. Or do they like those movies much better?

  • @Omnikron228 I really don't know, I know one of the guys in "A Bridge too far" was actually there. But refused to play himself, instead playing his own officer...

  • 桂河橋電影主題曲 good>>>>>>

  • Hitler, has only got one ball

The other is in albert square

    his mother,the dirty bugger!

  • Hitler has only got one ball

Goring has two but very small.

    Himmler is very sim'lar

But Joseph Goebbels has no balls at all.

  • HAHAHA I remember F.R.I.E.N.D.S

  • Fantastic movie .. but the ending is entirely inaccurate .. the bridge still stands today - a monument to the agonising deaths of brave allied POWs in their hundreds of thousands at the hands of the brutal Japanese Empire of the time ..

  • I remember this march! Mitch rocks!!!

  • @waltonli

    Goebels...has two but very small.

  • I liked the theme. But I saw the movie twice and never got any sense out of it.

  • Was that a German march? perhaps I am wrong about this!

  • @Doug48794 The whistling segment is a WWI British military March.

  • @Doug48794 yes you are :) watch the film :)

  • mitch miller was the best! even though im 24, my mom used to play his Christmas album every year. i sometimes laugh now at the military style of "YOU BETTER NOT POUT, YOU BETTER NOT CRY, YOU BETTER NOT POUT IM TELLING YOU WHYY, SAN-TA CLAUS IS COM-ING, TO TOOWN."

  • How can anyone dislike this?

  • Notice how both the River Kwai movie and Planet of the Apes ended with someone noting the madness of it all? They had the same author.

  • at 1:22 it starts to sound like Star Wars

  • HITLERS ONLY GOT 1 BALL!!!

  • The head of the ER in Nurse Jackie (showtime) was playing this on a piano and it drove me NUTS until I could figure out how to find it here !

I kept hearing it whistled in my head.

I didn't know the name of it but my husband mentioned th River Kwai movie.

Funny cause the character on Nurse Jackie doesn't seem the type to like the military...don't know for sure...just a hunch.

    Thanks for posting !

    This is great !

  • EPIC SONG!

  • Kenneth Alford.

She threw it into a conker tree It missed and went into the sea The fishes got out their dishes, And had scallops and bollocks for tea.
  • "Under the Double Eagle"

  • Great things come of the little. God bless golf- I guess. Give me baseball- still the most spiritual game.

  • The guy who who composed this got the idea when he was playing golf. WHen he hit a ball really far, he would whistle the first two notes! S o he came up with the rest of the song!

  • I agree!! Good one!!

  • Wish I could whistle as well, wonderful music, used to march into school at Pennington Primary School SA to Colonel Bogey

  • . . ..strange, but this song for me, is synonmous w/ Disneyland.....for some reason it was always playing as like an ambient backdrop at the park/grounds.....hmmmm

  • I was platoon leader and just for yucks I tried this while marching my group but it was impossible to whistle while smiling so much. It was hilarious....It was easier to sing the Hitler, Goering song instead.

  • Absolutely classic. This was a great film.

Goering, didn't have any at all

I think that's how it goes

  • @hossana21

Hitler, has only got one ball

Goering, has two but very small

    Himmler, is some-what similar,

and poor ol' Goebbels has got no balls at all.

    :)

  • The River Kwai is an amazing FILM

  • Isteni jó !

    Egyik kedvencem !!!!

  • My dad's name is Mitch Miller! I have to wonder if my granny and pappaw named him after this guy.

  • Never get tired of listening to this!

  • cant get it out of my head! :D

  • this song is good to this text:

Fräulein wollen sie ein kind von mir

Fräulein dann machen wir's gleich hier

Fräulein ein kleines baby, ein baby von mir

  • My grandfather wisthles this one every single day!

  • ★★★★★ Yes 5 stars for this "Golden Oldie" from the 'baby boomer' generation when this was listened to on the old analog radio & watched on black & white TV. Glad to see this GR8 tune making the rounds now in the digital revolution. Rest In Peace Mitch~!

  • Sing this to the song: HITLER - he had just one big ball, STALIN had two but they were small. Himmler had something simular, and Mr. Göbbles had no balls at all! xD hahah

  • Hitler has only got one ball,

The other is on the kitchen wall,

    His mother, the dirty bugger,

Chopped it off when hitler was small.

She threw it, into the apple tree

The wind blew it into the deep blue sea

Where the fishes got off their dishes and ate scallops and bollocks for tea

  • do u know the real words to it?

  • @ratlord8456 There are none.

  • Go to this site as I have. There you shall see what the real casualties are. Thousands upon thousands of graves marked only with "Known But To God".

  • If it weren't for The Breakfast Club, I wouldn't have known this tune's name :D

  • The movie and song still send chills down my spine! I still whistle this tune all the time.

  • This is the "Colonel Bogey March", by Lt. F. J. Ricketts (1914), a.k.a. Kenneth Alford. "The River Kwai March" is an entirely different tune from the film, written by Malcolm Arnold in 1957.

  • @upajos M. A. composed in 1957 for the movie of March from the River Kwai, which is an instrumental counterpart to the tune whistled in the movie Colonel Bogey March. Under the title of March from the River Kwai, the march is generally identified and still be related to the war movie here. Mitch Miller arranged a medley of two marches, which can be heard at the end of the film. The medley consists of the melody of the Colonel Bogey March, which is placed over the River Kwai March orchestrated.

  • @ubsswp Thank you for the clarification. The same confusion occurs with the music from the movie "Picnic," which incidentally also stars William Holden. There is the "Moon Glow" and "The Picnic" theme which are intertwined throughout the movie, but most people think of "Moon Glow" as THE music from "Picnic," great film also. Anything with Bill Holden was pretty darn good.

  • @ubsswp somebody had the whole malcolm arnold soundtrack record in youtube some years back

  • i love this song! it gives me cheer and spirit!

  • I heard this while playing Overlord 2 and just had to find it.

  • Absolutely love it, inspirational! God Bless our cousins the British!

  • This is such a supberb film that it is bound to eventually feature in the history of WW2 and would can resist whistling this tune?

Love this melody....used to whistle along on the long route marches and exercises....

  • at the volunteer firemens parade one fire company always marches to this

  • Even though it isn't period correct, my friends and I whistle it at civil war reenactments ahahaha.

  • @bullyboy1863 that´s sad in so many ways

  • @BartKlijn why is it sad?

  • catchy as fuck!! the good ol british army!!

  • @goldyn12345 LOL

  • 1:10-1:45 , I love it! Especially when the crowd hailing becomes louder in 1:28.
