Hi Carl, I have three guitars. This a 12 strings and the other were 12 gtrings that I've modified. I have one a 10 and one an 8. I I have a few 6 strings but they are electric. I have posted any songs with them yet because I can't seen to get a good sound.. Thanks --:)Rod
Thank you Amanda ! This is a guitar I made from a 12 strings. It gives me more sound when I run my fingers up and down the guitar neck. Thank you again very much. --:)Rod
This is Great.!! I bought my son a 12 string guitar but I have never heard of a 8 String til I watched your video.!! I LOVE guitar music. I have to get Becca playing the guitar. Since my son graduated college and got his own home I miss his playing for me. Hope you are doing well.!! Becc is great. Since basketball is over she will be doing more with her music so will post more videos. !! ******
Hi ! Good to hear from you. I hope basketball season went well. I will be looking forward to Becca singing again. Does your son post songs on here since he plays the 12 string ? --:)Rod
HI Lost ! LOL ---I remember picking cotton in Arkansas and it would rain. The mud was everywhere. lol You would sink about 6 inch to 10 inch in that stuff ! Good to hear from you. Keep picking out those great tunes . --:)Rod
You get some amazing sounds from that guitar, Rod. I always love to listen to your songs. Thanks for the helpful video. I am not that far along yet, but did enjoy listening! ~NAncy
Hi Nancy, Thank you very much and keep up the practice. It just takes time. I practice everyday on what I already know and I watch many other people on here in hopes of just learning one thing from each person. Thanks again, Rod
Hi ! Thanks and I'm glad to share. Well if a sixteen penny nail works please let me now ! lol --:) I think you would be better off buying and ole 12 string and breaking it down. lol --:)Rod
I love your relaxed style, Rodney. I have to admit I feel a bit too set in my ways to change or try something new nowadays but that doesn't stop me seeing how other folk do it and I guess a good few people out there, without concrete for brains, are learning from it.
Hi Geoff, Thank you ! I sure understand what you mean by doing your own style. I watch all the guys and girls then I wonder how in the world do you do that. It is fun to watch all the different styles and sounds from all over the world by many different people. Thanks again, Rod
Very cool and interesting Rod, you sure make that guitar sound beautiful with your style of playing! Thanks for sharing your technique... I enjoyed it! ... FrAnK (★★★★★)
There used to be an old lady here in the mountains that played claw hammer banjer (lol) some years ago that I would visit and listen too, everytime I hear you play I cant help but think of her.Its good to see you teaching your style because unfortunately some of these techniques seem to be a dieing art, at least around here anyway.
Thanks and I use understand about the styles. Sometime things just fade away and then all of a sudden here they come again when some kids learns a certain style he or she likes. Some of the ole time banjo/guitar pickers are just awesome and no one every heard much about them. Thanks again, --:)Rod
I just accepted your friend invitation, I wonder what the deal is with that. Weve been on each others friend list almost since Ive been on youtube, I`ll have to go check my other channel out now the monkeys must be playing around. lol
Hi Racheal, Thank you very much. You just keeo up the practice and you will do just fine on the guitar. It just take a little time each day. I just got through with my practice for today. --:)Rod
Hi C.W. I'm sure you've helped out many yourself. Thanks for the great comment. I'm just like you in helping. I see thoses videos you help on. 5 stars to your brother ! Thanks again --:)Rod
Thanks Gerry ! I'm still trying to find out what going on. lol I never realize all the different sound and styles until youtube came along. I think you could take 10 musicians off of here and cover every kind of music there is. Thanks bro' --:)Rod
Thanks lar, That means alot to me coming from you. It's just the style I learned riging on the back of a cotton sack starting at about the age of three. (( True story )). --:)Rod
Hi Rod- ha ha- I grew up poor too- the claw hammer style was good to be exposed to- MJH started playing in the way back and got "discovered" with a lot of other Roots Blues players- his finger style is amazing- mabe I can send ya a private on MJH in straight tuning mabe open D- think you'd like Louis Collins- and is that Coffyville on your shirt- the town of the infamous Dalton Gang shootout?
Thanks and yes I know they have some really great finger pickers out there. You are right about the Dalton gang and Coffeyville. They still have the Dalton days in Coffeyville each year with the shootout and all. The banks are still there. One is for show and I'm not for sure but I think the other is still in business. --:)Rod
Yea, MJH was Southern Rural, and Piedmont was in Virginia, home of John Jackson a friend of MJH and Elizabeth Cotton- read about that famous Dalton Gang gettin all shot up there- think one of them lived to- The Eagles wrote them in song- Coffyville Kansas right
Used to know their names- one was Graton I think- the one that lived was around a long time I think- they were local then?- bet they were surprised the shopkeepers opened up on 'em with shoyguns- what a story
Thanks-faved for future- was going to ask about the banjo claw hammer thing- you in an open tuning?- bet Mississippi John would suit your pickin- especially Louis Collins and Pay Day- great stuff...
Hi, When I was a kid we were too poor for me to have a banjo but I did have a plascic guitar. I watched everyone playing the banjo and no one told me it wasn't suppose to be used on the guitar. lol To their credit , they let me find my own style and everyone helped me all along. I'm very pleased you like this. I've heard of Mississippi John. Thanks again, --:)Rod
At about 0:50, I wish I was video taping my dog Reesa. She totally cocked her head up and started doing the RCA-dog thing and looking at the computer. She loved the single notes.
Good teaching.
Very encouraging to a new player
Thanks
