  • 5 people own macs

  • thank god I have no carpets or rugs in my house gonna make this static thing much easier

  • he still uses AGP cards hehe

  • Thank you so much for this video.

  • no need for protection, unplug pc,leave it for 24 hours and viola

  • super sir ... ! thats amazing !

  • This video along with your video on removing a motherboard are the only ones I've watched on the topic and will probably be the only ones I need. Thanks for the videos especially for the simple, detailed instructions.

  • your video made me save 25 bucks for paying motherboard installation.

    thanks a lot.

  • Comment removed

  • this got me started. very good. I'll be back

  • Is he looking at the camera lol looks like he aint

  • whats an AGP card?

  • agp card is graphic card

  • Not a really big probelm but I just OCD about this. I hope you cleaned up the wiring. xD

  • where can i get those brace spacers.. do i tcome with the mb? i dont have them anymore please help me

where and how can i find the right spacers

  • @TheRogueMonk Any real electronic store is going to sell them.

  • if i dont have those spacers or right screws how can i know what to look for and where to buy them? can you help

my motherboard stopped working and i only screned the mb in without spacers before .. the mb wokred until this year

  • Do you have to buy those sound and the other cards that you were plugging in at 5:31?

  • @dhruhshilvah30 I eat cows. Umad

  • @barrapap zing!

  • When using a anti-static bracelet are both hands safe from static or do you need one per hand?

  • @testtube173

based purely on a high school physics class, just one should do.

  • great tuturial

  • Look at that CPU heatsink!!!!

  • do you need the antistatic thing?

  • thank you very much. I learned a lot!

  • this is so easy i m still 16 and i know more than that guy ...

how will i earn if i do the job of fixing hardware ???

  • @dhruvilshah30 You are going to need to learn proper spelling and grammar long before you find such a job.

  • @EnderofGames i m from india dum ass...........

    we know more than u!

so u better shut the fuck up!

  • What does it mean if the screws don't line up because I put a rivet into the plate on the inside not on the outside.

  • I've built and worked with over 14 different computers. I have never needed a static bracelet in my life nor never will need it.

  • Our desktop computer recently died of mysterious causes, so once we got a new computer I decided to open it up and take a look at it. When I powered it up I noticed a spark and saw the motherboard short circuit right after start up. I'm thinking about swapping out the motherboard for a new one and using it as my own computer. This will be the first time I'll be opening a computer and fiddling with it's guts. I know a bit of computer hardware basics, but do you have any helpful tips for a newbie?

  • @ravenfan205 first you have to see what the cpu type is to replace the Motherboard and follow this video how to put the new Motherboard in its easy when you do it a few times good luck

  • oooooooooo very good

  • GREAT VIDEO I AM LOVING THIS

  • u do the motherboard hole

  • u still using pata hard drives i us sata hard drive now cuz 2008 they aready have em

  • Tell 'Em Tech!

  • anti static bracelet? I just wear flip flops ^^

  • Hi

on the optical drive you add an audio cable to the motherboard as well as the ide ribbon, what is the advantage of this as I just connect the ribbon and have never had a problem

    Thanks

  • flipp the computer case on it's back you idiot instead of holding the mobo

  • Every piece of hardware in the computer from the mother board to the graphics card to the sound card to the hard drive has power requirements. All you need is a good power supply. If you are an avid gamer and have a premium motherboard and graphics card then you need at least a true 500w to 800w power supply. Be carefull when choosing a power supply because some are not as powerfull as they claim to be... Stick with the name brands. You get what you pay for.

  • A question to you!

Im thinking of getting a new motherboard AND a new graphicscard, im gaming alot so i want a fast Graphicscard and a motherboard that can handle lots of RAM, now, the problem for me is that on the graphicscards specifications theres a "minimum watt" requirement, so, my question really is; Is it the motherboard that handless the watt so that the card runs as it should or how does that work?

  • Very good explanation, the first part of the ground and the bronze stands it's the better, I only see so clear in this video from many others in the tube.

Thanks and greetings from Mexico city

  • do the plugs come with the board

  • just a quick question... if you change your motherboard, do you need to reinstall windows? assuming my hard drive already have windows installed...

  • @wakpy you don't need to but you may get a message up when you boot up windows with the new motherboard saying that a bit of hardware has changed and you need to phone up microsoft.

  • I really liked your Tutorial, I'm 14 I ahve built computers and if i ever need halp i will refer to you thanks! Subscibed...

  • i ussually touch a copper heating pipe under the heater and ive never had a problem

  • i have a micro atx

  • @Win7Tutorials2012 dont those only got 2 ram slots?

  • @McFartyPants they have 4

  • I have tried to install a ASRock P4VM890 Socket 478Intel Motherboard w/ PCI-E 16 into an (2003 purchased) hp pavilion a335w computer. The installion went fine and i got everything plugged in and attached, but when i tried to turn it on, it say not recognized and wants me to restore the computer to the last known settings and when i tried to do that it just goes back to he same thing, and i just put the original motherboard back in. What should i do? or is there any advice/tips you could give me

  • I wish I could do this for a living :)

  • Thanks,I just bought a new computer case.I wasn't sure how to install.I ordered online,It should be here in a few days. You were a lot of help ty.

  • this video is the best!!!!

  • I gave a "like" to this video. It is clear, succinct, simple, dumby proof. Good job goatee boy.

  • on a case with a screw type i/o shield, can u also place in a snap in i/o shield.

  • Thank you for this! my new motherboard will come today! =]

  • hey.

great video! But i have one question will a cooler from a dell computer work on a foxconn motherboard?

  • I've never seen that cooler for a Socket A/370/7 motherboard. Brand and model?

  • agp? card

  • Don't you have to check the BIOS or anything ?

  • Perfect explanation, 5* =D

  • You did a really superb job in explaining what you were going to do then doing it. The break in sound output was unnerving at first, but really appropriate to eliminate unnecessary background noise. I particularly liked the way you showed of handling the static discharge wrist strap and how to use the mat.

Thanks a lot for the great job.

  • i got a chord from my case that says rc'97 or something similar. where does that go?

  • thanks man your great !

  • Excellent

  • this is what i needed man. This is very helpful, thank you!!!

  • where do u get an anti static wrist band?

  • Radioshack.

  • is anti static really that necessary?

  • Absolutely absolutely absolutely absolutely absolutely

  • not.

if ur switching mobo then just press powerbottun once with the powecable out. and thn ur good to go

  • The mat, no. A properly working wrist strap with the alligator end connected to a metal part of your case, will do the trick just fine. They're about $5.

  • on my it doesnt say anything about power

  • Thanks friend, for your help, f you need anything from Brazil, you can rely on me! '' Muito obrigado, e que Deus te abençoe!''

  • I've watched a few videos in this topic, but this one was very informative and very frank. Thanks

  • Great Video, but I've a little question, There must be a space between the motherboard and the case something like a plastic to put in some holes or it depends of what kind of hardware? Thanks for the Video! God Bless you!

  • You put in risers on the screw holes at in the motherboard tray. Risers are just like sort of extension screw holes. Next you line the mobo with the your I/O panel making the mobo screw holes right over the risers. Screw them in.Now that that's done the reason for it is to prevent electrostatic dishcarge from mobo. The motherboard doesn't actuallly touch the bottom of the case so that if some static discharge went on your case it would be safe.

  • thx great video

  • i have a question, im getting a new motherboard, and i can transfer most of my hardware to the new motherboard right? EVEN THE HEATSINKER?

  • depends if there compatible see if u can tell me what ur components are and ur new and old motherboard

  • This was way better than Tigerdirect's video. Good job.

  • +1

    12chars

  • Nice try. Keep it up check out esteembpo + com for social media marketing. #LINK#

  • Simply great tutorial!

    Thanks!

  • WOW great video, no BS just straight to the point. 5/5

  • Great Video....BTW if you lay the case horizontally then you dont have the trouble of holding the motherboard and screwing it in place. I am sure you did it vertically for the clarity of the video

  • Very thorough video, thanks.

  • AGP FTW. :)

  • this video helped me tremendously. THANK YOU!!! You are a great teacher, very thorough, and you can actually make a video - how refreshing ...and we didnt have to listen to someone's crappy music like other videos. BRAVO 5 Stars for sure!

  • Just a note, you should probably use a wrench to tighten those brass standoffs. Sometimes while removing the screws on the motherboard, the brass standoff will rotate and the screw doesn't come out. It's a pain in the ass when it happens.

  • better to lay it on its side to install the mobo to the hole of the stand offs

  • thanks!this is the best video on youtube..

  • Cool!Best video on installing a motherboard i could find on youtube! Thanks for the upload!

  • thanks, i needed that info about the brass jumpoffs and the cabling

  • great video man thanks they should have you on prime time !!!5 plus stars !!!!!!

  • ok got a new build (new everything, case, motherboard) anyways i plug everything in, and the mother board lights red and green but theres no power, i push the power button but nothing happens. PLEASE help i can give more info.

  • did u intall the jumper correctly? set the jumper to restore mode then to management. if this does not work remove the cmos battery for roughly 15 minutes. the place back in. and when you remove the cmos battery also unplug the computer

  • how do you know if you fried your motherboard while installing it to a case? will it smoke? ugh!!

  • sir i want to pass a plus essentials and i want to practice building a pc and dissmantling it also , is ur sourse enough to pass a plus essential and it technician 602 exam , reply me asap . cheers , thank you .

  • what if the standoffs included in my case are metal and not brass? i already fried a motherboard cuz it touched metal.

  • I am not an instructor or anything but I just wanted to mention that Brass is a type of metal.

  • Great Video man, 5* thanks :)

  • thanks, i honestly just watched to see the stand offs part because i couldnt find a video that was accurate on that even though its very important, thanks alot.

  • thanks alot for this video. I was expecting to read a guide but found this video to show me exactly how to do it. i bought a new case and didn't know how to change it. thanks alot for this!!!

  • So what was the IO cable from or for the CD/DVD player? Also my tower has four other case plugs that say [VCC USB1- USB1+ GIND]-[GIND] and [VCC USB2- USB2+ GIND]-[GIND] where do I put those I looked through my motherboards manual but it doesnt say anything about toughs plugs. However all the other ones that you showed are there.

  • Excellent video, very professional and well performed. Thank you.

  • great video!

  • how much ram does that video card have??

  • oh yeah, and why dont you put the computer on its side? that makes it easier to put in the mobo (when youre screwing it in)

  • You are correct. It was easier to film on standing up. I would normally lay it down.

  • Nice man :b

  • an anti static bracelet? seriously?

  • These videos are designed to teach new CompTIA A+ students proper grounding techniques. This is what is tested on the CompTIA A+ exam, and it is also a recommended best practice.

  • Yeah sorry I didn't realize it was a teaching video for students.

  • not only students use an anti static bracelet.... its better to be safe than sorry.

  • @flectz

Anti static bracelet, pretty much like a condom?

  • @flectz what you die from a shock

  • @MetallicaKevin2495 no. you can short circuit your parts and theyll all go to waste, dumbass

  • I'm working on building a Pc,I Ordered most of the stuff I need,Case,Cd/dvd drive,Mother Board and a Hard drive. The Mother board and hard drive should be here by monday. I Hope I Dont mess anything up,looks easy enough but you never know.

  • that pc loud, sounds like a small plane, tbh motherboard is the hardest thing to deal with when building, i've build a few know it it gets easier everytime, the front panel is usually not so easy to deal with, and is rather fidly when putting the case connecters in, but if you feel lazy just putting the power switch in will be fine to switch the pc on if you wanna test it, pc parts are alot more resiliant then people may think aswell :D

  • Well I now know how to build a computer if it was 1998. Please update with Serial ATA, and PCI video cards...

  • Hey dude I'm a 16 year old kid who needed some help and sir you sure have helped me :)

  • very nicely done, especially the camera angles.

  • The only thing im doubting about building my pc is installing the motherboard...

Im worried i will screw it all up, i have heard that its not likely as long as you ground yourself. Can i just stay on a wooden surface and touch something metal first? Thanks this tutorial is sooo perfect.

  • Can't wait to screw up my PC!

  • The most detailed guide I've seen so far. Thanks!

  • great !

  • Nice guide, but ROFL at anti static mat. They sure know how to sell them.. scare tactics. I've build systems since the 1st micro proc was made, and you don't need all of that fancy crap. In fact you could do nothing and probably never have a problem. The exception is if you get shocks off of things in your room often. Then you need to do something. But all I do is ground/discharge to anything other than the computer 1st. I've never blown a system for lack of that huge static mat, EVER.

  • Using proper ESD protection is good practice. These videos are to show new CompTIA A+ candidates good habits and proper techniques.

Watch my video on ESD protection and you will see that an ESD mat and strap are recommended but not required. They are there to show new technicians some options in various situations.

I always bring my mat w/ me on a service call because I never know what type of environment I will be working in. The mat acts as a cushion to protect the work surface too.

  • Isn't it a lot easier to just put the case on it's side and then put the MOBO in?

  • Probably. It is harder to film that way though :).

  • ah, good point :P

  • If I upgrade my motherboard (to a completley new model), do I have to reinstall windows? In this video he didnt do that.

  • Most likely yes. The drivers used for the new motherboard would be different. A few of the key components are the mass storage controllers and the hardware abstraction layer (HAL) drivers. Most likely these would be different and you would want to backup your data and reinstall Windows.

  • Great guide, very helpful.

Better than the other motherboard installation videos imo.

  • awesome guide thanks a lot!

  • THANX man great work helped my out alot

  • hey thanks alot you really helped me out alot.

my Motherboard has sprung a leakage in the batteycells and now i know how to install a new motherboard thanks alot.
