when it comes to PA i use the fender passport pd500 its a great little system. but it has a huge punch to it. its small but the sound is loud and clear. i play gigs in large halls avg 800people and this really gets the top and mid out there i do rock 2 nady psw18a for the low but in a small room/house party up to 100 people this system by its self really kicks
iv got two 600 watt 12" carlsbro gammers and two skytec 300watt bassbins and i do 600 people fine in a big room as well its not to loud its just right
What Do People Think Or The Brand Herculie's (Think It's Spelt Right) Ive got Hercule's JEM Speaker's .. Name On The Grill's Are JEM .. But The Rear Amp Is By Hercule's So .. What You Guy's Think Good or Rubish
Ahh I'm a sucker for SHOUTS! Thanks M8! After this rather hectic weekend, I'll be a bit more active here. Things just get nuts come Thursday for me. Talk to you soon bro!
to DjCh3, 1, always try to use the same amps, as in all the same make, 2 try to get all the speaker boxes power to corespond to the amp power , but a higher out put on the amp is better that a lower out put, eg speaker box = 600w, get a 700, 800w amp.
to DJCH3, pt two, 3 ,always run the amp vol nearly all the way up and use the vol on the mixer to set the level of sound, 4 ,if each speaker box is 8 ohm and your amp is 4 ohm a side , you would need two speakers per side per amp.5, a good medium pa set up is a two way, so, music source, mixer, cross over/limmiter, amps , speakers.
If you take a 5.1 surround system, 505watts; 4x62watts 1x69watts 188watt woofer.(DTS, THX 96kHz 24-bit). Take 4 of these sets and make is so that the L-channel and R-channel each have 10 speakers (ie 634watts) and 4 subs (ie 752watt). Would that be a good system? How many people do you think it will serve? Good thing is they come with their own amps, no need to buy those anymore.
Apart from the practical use. 4x505 watts. Is that the same as 2020 watts? Or does it work differently with sound?
to abuisman, to be honest this would be a wast of time, you would be better off getting a set of 15" and horn with a good PA power amp. nice idea though!
to put it simply, a lot of small speakers is not as good as a couple big speakers, and consumer systems like this would not be practical for a number of other reasons such as durability
Big gigs are better handled by horn loaded cabs, which are more efficient and provide a better spread of sound. Google for Funktion One, which are the daddies at the moment!
to riothero313 i used to have a two twin 18 sub's next to each other , this way i would get 3 extra DB , which is about double the power out! I know what you mean! j
The way to fix this is to have the subs, which have the long wavelength sound waves, in one location. Just put your subs, or bass cabs, into the center between the two main speakers or clusters, and the bass will be more evenly dispersed throughout the listening area.
Theres one problem with that design of speaker system. Its called coomb filtering and is basically the result of the interatction of the bass from the two subs. There would be nodes and antinodes in the bass response with that setup.
iv got £400 to spend, need some speakers, 15 inch sub any ideas?

is 1000 watts loud to play other 100-200 people?
chrisbabes67 3 years ago
that depends on if it is in or outside
i would say some 1000 watt RMS would be more than adequate for 150 people

also if you corner load your bass cabs you get more output.

to BboyElectrix, i agree, but without going into the phisics of sound you have to agree for a croud of a few 100, this set up is fine! thanks J

low fq sounds are non-directional and bass drivers can be placed anywhere.
