I just ordered myself up a Flash II Tanto FSAT-8 with the updated arc lock system. I paid aproximatley $40.00 from and after watching your video nutnfancy I think I may have gotten a good EDC knife for the dollat value. I am sure there are pros and cons to any knife in this price range ,but heck I will not pay 3 or 4 hundred bucks for any EDC knife. I would spend that kind of cash on a non folder ,but the one I have coosen and after many knife reveiws I think I have made the right choice.

I purchased one of these based on a nutnfancy review. only time will tell about some times, but i have to say im satisfied on first impression. no one does reviews like TNP
Love it next knife I buy will be a SOG Aegis with the black coating and Tanto blade! Tired of cheap knives that fall apart and perform poorly so I'm finally gonna invest in something good. Thanks for the Review
thanks to nutnfancy....i carry a knife every day and have always gone cheap. they fall apart after one year of use. so i wanted to buy a good quality knife that will last. did alot of research and found your video along the way. your right about everything on this knife! so lightweight that i dont even realize im carrying, razor sharp, fast, practical, defensive, and looks cool! thanks again!!!!!
mine is having a LOT of bladeplay, maybe coming from the assisted opening being "brutal" on the system, it's more a "gadget" knife for tactical lovers than a real useful knife (not even talking legality..) ... i like way more my spyderco's for EDC / utility knives, strong , no blade play at all after a lot of use and simple mechanism = less failures .
I bought one and the spring broke after 4 weeks so I got a refund. Seems to me like SOGs spring assist is pretty weak. From your experience, do you agree or disagree?
Just received my Black Ti-ni Aegis!! Shaving sharp out of the box, fits my hand well, just a beautiful design. Impressive shipping from notjustknives, they'll get more business from this user. Out.
I just gotta say this. Believe it or not I busted my Aegis, and not in the way you'd expect. I bought the black Ti-ni coated tanto version and doing some stabbing procedures into some bamboo, somehow I snapped one of the zytel scales. I guess I torqued it, but the whole arc-lock side of the knife broke clean off. SOG replaced it though, great service.
Thanks for the input. I did adjust the pivot on both. The regular Aegis is okay now, but the Mini doesn't want to tighten enough to get rid of the movement. I think the plastic is slightly deformed and won't allow a tight lock up. On both, In my opinion the action is not very smooth. At least they are sharp.
Disappointed. For the money, both aegis models didnt impress me. The blades are good, but the lockup and action are shakey. Wobble in boyh blades and the action is not smooth. SOG has not responded to my letter either. Not impressive.
@bewholesurfer With an assisted opener like the aegis they leave a little wiggle room otherwise the blade would not deploy rapidly as intended. Before you give up on it take out the pivot screw and loctite it. There is a perfect balance between too tight and too loose, but find the sweet spot and it locks up as tight as most any other blade. I've had no problems after doing this
I just got my aegis today and holy crap this thing is so freaking light! Thx nutnfancy another product I got from watching ur channel please keep doing what u do
Hey Nutnfancy, love the videos, and appreciate the time you put into them. I ordered this knife for myself for my bithday as i was watching this review. Originaly i wanted the mini aegis, but im sold on that digi camo. thanks again

Bought the SOG Aegis digi cam! Love it! SOG is awesome. Thanks for your review. Made it a lot easier to pull the trigger. Checkin' out the SOG Agency. Man, sweet knife. I need it! :) Thanks for all your vids!
great looking blade, its in at the front of the line to buy as soon as Christmas goes by.... bought too many 4Sevens lights as gifts and I'm tapped out :(
I bought this knife earlier this year after watching this same review. I love the project and will always consult them before I make a choice on any gear, knife or firearm. Keep it up Nutn, you're one of the Greats!
How do you take apart the knife? would you PLEASE post a video on how to take it apart? I haven't been able to find the tool to loosen the main screw, its like a mixture of two different heads. PLEASE HELP ME!!
Which version of the Aegis you prefer for EDC ,the Aegis Tanto or this one and why ? I'm asking because I'm planing to take one but I'm not sure which one.
i kinda wish SOG would do proof vids on there website like cold steel instead of that dull and uninterested "reviewer" who does 1 minute videos that show him deploying and folding 20 times and telling us what we already know
@chevelleify07 I believe it has something to do with the fact that he is an educator, he gets a high amount of views, he makes quality videos, and because of that youtube grants him a special permission. Not sure though, so don't hold me to it.

Love your reviews. Just ordered the SOG Aegis (black on black).
I'd like to see a review for a Ka-bar Dozier Phat Bob. I own one and (although its very heavy and fat) it seems to be very well made and solid. I love it.
Has anyone tried out the mini Aegis? I'm curious as to how people like that one. I really like this Aegis knife but I'm looking to carry a smaller knife.
if your gonna review the flash ... review the flash. If your gonna review the Aegis ... review the Aegis. Try some focus. Stop wandering all over gods green earth on your comments. Please. Keep these knife reviews to 5 mins in length. In this video you don't even get to the Aegis till 4 mins into the video... then you wander right back in to the flash series again... other videos and blah blah blah.
@brianminkc He is comparing the Aegis to the Flash 1 and Flash 2, comprehension is your friend. Maybe he should slow his commentary down so you can take it all in? Maybe draw visuals with crayons?
@brianminkc Why don't you just Google those details then friendo...who would need a video for such boring and basic details?!! TNP is a knife show and I put it together however it interests me and if you don't like it, don't watch. Oh wait I see you've blocked already...never mind. Just another jealous hater. See ya tool.
@nutnfancy Just got done reading the above counter remarks, lol, that was truly funny lol, keep the awsome vids coming. PS. longer videos in your case = better, more educational/ entertaining videos, again the awsome work.
I have a question for anyone that has black coding on there blade. How fast does the black wear off on this knife? I have a black kabar and it comes off super easy. Thanks guys
after watching a ton of knives come out over the years it's crazy to see the most versatile and strong cross functionality blade design, not unlike the centuries old japanese deba finally make it's way to a pocket knife. now that said i think it's ugly always have, it's just me. i own a few in this style for cooking and they are hands down me favorite. so i cant help but to agree this is my favorite pocket knife now for years
The Aegis is nice, but the steel is sub-par, the AUS 8 on this and on my RAT, they dent and the tip wears down waaayyyy to fast, get a better quality steel knife.
I'd get a Spyderco Para Military 2 any day over the Aegis. please do a review of the SPM2 Nut'n' :D
I just got one of these and so far I am quite pleased. I have had absolutely no issues with this knife so far. that could change but I don't see that happening
I bought one from my local sporting goods store had it for one hour and took it back. SOG really drop the ball on this one. It had blade play, bad lock up, and terrible pocket ride. Do not buy this Knife
I recently bought this knife, had some problems, got a replacement and ended up sending them both back. While this is the best looking knife I have ever seen that has some really great features, it has issues. Blade play is awful, right out of the box it wiggled and only got worse. Uncentered blade which was rubbing the liner. TiNi coating which seemed to rub off like paint. Rough opening/closing. etc.
For a $70 knife I was not happy.. My $30 Tenacious is built to much higher quality.
@m0derncrysis if you're into fixed blades, I'd say KA-BAR, they use a great extremely strong high carbon 1095 steel, you can get a short model (5.25 in) for around 40 USD, 50 with a great kydex
Just ordered my SOG Aegis this morning before work, Spyderco Tenacious came in yesterday. Next month, the Spyderco Military is on the list. Keep the knife collections alive.
@SIFLINT1 The piston that locks the blade and the lever to pull that piston back are not connected, so the lever sometimes does not go all the way foreward, when the piston does.
just literally just bought this knife after seeing this vid.Coming this week i cant wait. I've been watching your edc and tactical blade playlists for a while trying to find a good blade for my next purchase.I did'nt get the camo or tini coated blade because what was being charged and because i like a plain blade.
Just bought the Aegis yesterday because of the review. I had no addiction to the blade until I started digging into your reviews and realized how many AWESOME blades there are and how useful they are in EDC roles. Love what you do keep it coming! Next time you're down at Impact lets put some lead down range! I'm there way too much.. according to my wife
I put my aegis tanto every day in the dishwasher at work, fold it and put it in my pocket without drying : never seen rust on it + the serrations are very usefull. If you get it for 80$ it's VERY good value
@partyfrog69 Why doesnt it? The pocket clip is ambidextrous, and with the way the assist works on this knife, you cant close it one handed, so being a lefty actually aids in its use. (Pull back on release with pointer finger of left hand, close blade with right hand, return to pocket)
@TacticalGearJunkie Yep I still love and have seen no meaningful issues with mine or other TNPrs knives. I've ran into several packing heavily used Aegis' and they are lasting. The only downside is higher cost and delicate tip.
Just got one last week. Its a cool knife, light and fast. But it chipped out on me with the first use. I was cutting rope. Sent sog an email, we'll see what will happen. Needles to say not to happy.

Hey nutn, was wondering what type of tool you used to tighten the pivot screws for these SOG spring assisted folding knives, I've tried 4 small screw drivers but can't seem to find anything that really works.
Thanks for uploading the video too! =] have a good one
Nutnfancy, I really do think this company has taken everything you've said into consideration. Maybe you didn't notice this, but even the locking mechanism has been improved; it really has to *click* into place on this model, whereas in the Trident it could be accidentally set to "safe".. From that to the blade/handle ratio.. this knife might as well be called the nutnfancy model
I picked up this knife just because of your review. But I went with the tanto blade. I like the half serrated blade better along with the straight blade edges. One thing about the knife that I fixed was that the clip was very tight, so I bent it a little. Now it's perfect.
Just ordered one in the same configuration! Thanks for the great reviews and keep them coming! They are very informative and save me a lot of guess work when choosing a product. I also love your philosophy videos. Thanks again Nutnfancy!
I got this thing a couple of months ago and it hasn't really given me any problems. Though, recently i was adjusting the pivot and now it makes a clicking noise when I open it..... does anyone else have a "clicky" Aegis?
@BakaLord123 No need to be alarmed, its part of the function of the arc-loc that sog uses, my Trident and Flash 2 both did the same thing for a while, but it has stopped now.
i bought one as soon as i watched this video and its still sitting in my truck, been used twice. always carry the good ol mini griptillian (D2 steel). btw, it is a very very weak tip, very flimsy blade. one good thing about it, very good handle on it, easy to hold onto. SOG just makes weak, thin blades on a majority of their blades, same with the flash series.
Hey Nutn, Great vids keep up the good work! I especially enjoyed your "Some Kinda Good" video, it really is food for thought as a young guy. I bought this knife due to this awesome review and I absolutely love it! (As well as Flash II and Seal pup elite :) I have a two part question for you, 1. Im curious what keeps the Aegis out of your daily EDC kit as your tac knife? What makes the other knives much more formidable?
@silviaks90 2. What other options will offer you the similar "feel" (speed and ease of employment") as the assisted blades like the flash II and Aegis without breaking the bank? (125$ and under) Thx alot man for your time to make great vids and wealth of knowledge! -Kyle
I loved mine until it broke. The clip portion of the handle cracked. I have never been able to get the knife to lock up well. Just my opinion. Good Luck!
Got this knife a few days ago. At first I was really disappointed at the side to side play in the blade - something my Flash II doesn't have. A quick tighten of the screws though and it's tight as a drum and lightening fast. I have the Digi camo drop point and it's beautiful, best looking knife I have.
I own this knife and it is one of my favorites. I have actually grown to really dislike liner locks. I am a huge fan fn Benchmade Axis lock, and SOG's Arc Lock. They should be on all knives in my opinion. "Ban the liner lock!!" lol
Hey Nutnfancy, I enjoy watching your videos and i have a question!! Is it true that automatic knives are illegal? Do i need a special permit for the COG Aegis?? I know that if i carry a switchblade, I will go to jail if i get caught. I think its because of the spring. Im not too sure though. Any thoughts?
@joker33284 The SOG Aegis is an assisted opening blade, meaning you have to initiate the opening, as were a automatic blade does not require that intitial movment all you have to press is a button/switch, hope this helps
what is your opinion on tanto blades? i can't think of any of your videos where you review a tanto style blade. (might be out there but may have missed them) but do you think they are good, strong, etc etc??
thanks!
p.s. TNP rocks! too much actually. i dont get anything done anymore cause all i do is watch your vids
@eastonk Nutnfancy doesnt generally like them for EDC blades, they dont have as much utility as a blade with a nice belly, but if youre a cop or soldier, or want a tactical knife that wont fail on you while shanking, the tanto is nice.
@eastonk for EDC tanto really dosent have much use except in an emergency tactical role. in my experience in knives tanto points dont get in the way at all even in EDC but its more personal opinion and what to you has a more second type of cool.
How is the black TiNi coating on the Aegis, do's it where off easily? Im thinking about picking one up and I'm concerned about how easy the black TiNi coating will where off. and if any one has the full black Aegis is the gimping sharp because i know the plane AUS8 blade with no coating has dull gimping.
also forgot to add, after spending a time carrying the aegis, two huge cons. NO metal liner! I love metal liners! they contribute very little to the weight but give so much to the overall strenght. the mini griptillian is like gripping steel compared the this knife. next, the huge blade handle, carrying it in a front pocket carry makes it feel like i'm carry a second wallet. since i carry a j frame in my front pocket it was a major disadvantage. knives are like guns, treat them well.
i have the aegis. bought it after watching this review and a few others and that coating comes off pretty much right after you cut through your first piece of paper. it is super light it is super sharp but it it goes dull super fast. after a week of carrying i went back to old tried and true, my D2 mini griptillian. sharpen it once a month wether she needs it or not, most of the time she dosent. I cut through everything with her too, tried with the aeigis nope. she's pretty but thats it.
Personally I really like these type of locks. With liner locks I'm always afraid that if I'm in a hurry I might cut my thumb during the closing of the blade.
A quick question for Nutnfancy or anyone else who may know: I'm stoked on this blade, want to buy one, but just have one question: Is that bayonet clip reversible? I ask because I'm a lefty and this is always consideration for me with guns, knives etc. Appreciate the help!
i just got my Aegus today and one thing ive noticed that Nutn's handle is mor of a desert camo and mine is more woodland (the coyote brown on his is OD on mine)
"That's a strong tip! [...] That's actually not a bad tanto shape."
Thanks Nutn. I've had my tanto aegis for about 6 months. It's becoming my main edc. But I've babied it lol. I'll put it through regular use. I will. It will last years and years.
Just go this knife last week after seeing the review and love it all the guys at work are really diggin it. The digi cam is a second kind of cool.

I would spend that kind of cash on a non folder ,but the one I have coosen and after many knife reveiws I think I have made the right choice.

if your gonna review the flash ... review the flash. If your gonna review the Aegis ... review the Aegis. Try some focus. Stop wandering all over gods green earth on your comments. Please. Keep these knife reviews to 5 mins in length. In this video you don't even get to the Aegis till 4 mins into the video... then you wander right back in to the flash series again... other videos and blah blah blah.
brianminkc 5 months ago
@brianminkc He is comparing the Aegis to the Flash 1 and Flash 2, comprehension is your friend. Maybe he should slow his commentary down so you can take it all in? Maybe draw visuals with crayons?
Suidakkra 4 months ago
@Suidakkra Excellent response, gold star for you!
nutnfancy 3 months ago
@brianminkc Why don't you just Google those details then friendo...who would need a video for such boring and basic details?!! TNP is a knife show and I put it together however it interests me and if you don't like it, don't watch. Oh wait I see you've blocked already...never mind. Just another jealous hater. See ya tool.

@nutnfancy Just got done reading the above counter remarks, lol, that was truly funny lol, keep the awsome vids coming. PS. longer videos in your case = better, more educational/ entertaining videos, again the awsome work.

after watching a ton of knives come out over the years it's crazy to see the most versatile and strong cross functionality blade design, not unlike the centuries old japanese deba finally make it's way to a pocket knife. now that said i think it's ugly always have, it's just me. i own a few in this style for cooking and they are hands down me favorite. so i cant help but to agree this is my favorite pocket knife now for years

@chardful I love it too, thanks man

The Aegis is nice, but the steel is sub-par, the AUS 8 on this and on my RAT, they dent and the tip wears down waaayyyy to fast, get a better quality steel knife.
I'd get a Spyderco Para Military 2 any day over the Aegis. please do a review of the SPM2 Nut'n' :D

I just got one of these and so far I am quite pleased. I have had absolutely no issues with this knife so far. that could change but I don't see that happening
drew2r 5 months ago
I bought one from my local sporting goods store had it for one hour and took it back. SOG really drop the ball on this one. It had blade play, bad lock up, and terrible pocket ride. Do not buy this Knife
oliver6able 6 months ago
I recently bought this knife, had some problems, got a replacement and ended up sending them both back. While this is the best looking knife I have ever seen that has some really great features, it has issues. Blade play is awful, right out of the box it wiggled and only got worse. Uncentered blade which was rubbing the liner. TiNi coating which seemed to rub off like paint. Rough opening/closing. etc.
For a $70 knife I was not happy.. My $30 Tenacious is built to much higher quality.

Which knife has the strongest steel for the cheapest price?
m0derncrysis 6 months ago
@m0derncrysis if you're into fixed blades, I'd say KA-BAR, they use a great extremely strong high carbon 1095 steel, you can get a short model (5.25 in) for around 40 USD, 50 with a great kydex
WetSocks97 5 months ago
@WetSocks97 I got the Spyderco Endura FFG for only 50 bucks on amazon, im pretty happy with my decision

SOG's recent knives are pure crap. Almost all their newer knives have blade play. Forget SOG buy kershaw.

whats with the lock stud doesent seem to go fully home sometimes ??? watch the vid back n see
SIFLINT1 7 months ago in playlist nutnfancy's videos
@SIFLINT1 The piston that locks the blade and the lever to pull that piston back are not connected, so the lever sometimes does not go all the way foreward, when the piston does.

just literally just bought this knife after seeing this vid.Coming this week i cant wait. I've been watching your edc and tactical blade playlists for a while trying to find a good blade for my next purchase.I did'nt get the camo or tini coated blade because what was being charged and because i like a plain blade.
NightmareCrazy13 7 months ago 2
Just bought the Aegis yesterday because of the review. I had no addiction to the blade until I started digging into your reviews and realized how many AWESOME blades there are and how useful they are in EDC roles. Love what you do keep it coming! Next time you're down at Impact lets put some lead down range! I'm there way too much.. according to my wife

For us lefties, 27% of the population, the knife doesn't cut it, please move on.
partyfrog69 7 months ago
@partyfrog69 Why doesnt it? The pocket clip is ambidextrous, and with the way the assist works on this knife, you cant close it one handed, so being a lefty actually aids in its use. (Pull back on release with pointer finger of left hand, close blade with right hand, return to pocket)
Its really an awesome design for leftys.

NutnFancy, do you still feel the same about the SOG Aegis today as you did then?
TacticalGearJunkie 7 months ago
@TacticalGearJunkie Yep I still love and have seen no meaningful issues with mine or other TNPrs knives. I've ran into several packing heavily used Aegis' and they are lasting. The only downside is higher cost and delicate tip.

how does this compare to the benchmade HK 14210?
D70X1C 9 months ago

BakaLord123 10 months ago
@BakaLord123 No need to be alarmed, its part of the function of the arc-loc that sog uses, my Trident and Flash 2 both did the same thing for a while, but it has stopped now.

i bought one as soon as i watched this video and its still sitting in my truck, been used twice. always carry the good ol mini griptillian (D2 steel). btw, it is a very very weak tip, very flimsy blade. one good thing about it, very good handle on it, easy to hold onto. SOG just makes weak, thin blades on a majority of their blades, same with the flash series.
1hogfan83 11 months ago
Hey Nutn, Great vids keep up the good work! I especially enjoyed your "Some Kinda Good" video, it really is food for thought as a young guy. I bought this knife due to this awesome review and I absolutely love it! (As well as Flash II and Seal pup elite :) I have a two part question for you, 1. Im curious what keeps the Aegis out of your daily EDC kit as your tac knife? What makes the other knives much more formidable?
silviaks90 11 months ago
@silviaks90 2. What other options will offer you the similar "feel" (speed and ease of employment") as the assisted blades like the flash II and Aegis without breaking the bank? (125$ and under) Thx alot man for your time to make great vids and wealth of knowledge! -Kyle
silviaks90 11 months ago
Thank you for the excellent review. I recently purchased the SOG Aegis camo and it is indeed an excellent knife.

hey nutn SOG aegis vs CS Recon 1?
Chathamfatass12 11 months ago
Got this knife a few days ago. At first I was really disappointed at the side to side play in the blade - something my Flash II doesn't have. A quick tighten of the screws though and it's tight as a drum and lightening fast. I have the Digi camo drop point and it's beautiful, best looking knife I have.
alexwright17 11 months ago
I own this knife and it is one of my favorites. I have actually grown to really dislike liner locks. I am a huge fan fn Benchmade Axis lock, and SOG's Arc Lock. They should be on all knives in my opinion. "Ban the liner lock!!" lol

Hey Nutnfancy, I enjoy watching your videos and i have a question!! Is it true that automatic knives are illegal? Do i need a special permit for the COG Aegis?? I know that if i carry a switchblade, I will go to jail if i get caught. I think its because of the spring. Im not too sure though. Any thoughts?
joker33284 11 months ago
@joker33284 The SOG Aegis is an assisted opening blade, meaning you have to initiate the opening, as were a automatic blade does not require that intitial movment all you have to press is a button/switch, hope this helps

hey nutn/veri,
what is your opinion on tanto blades? i can't think of any of your videos where you review a tanto style blade. (might be out there but may have missed them) but do you think they are good, strong, etc etc??
thanks!
p.s. TNP rocks! too much actually. i dont get anything done anymore cause all i do is watch your vids
eastonk 1 year ago
@eastonk Nutnfancy doesnt generally like them for EDC blades, they dont have as much utility as a blade with a nice belly, but if youre a cop or soldier, or want a tactical knife that wont fail on you while shanking, the tanto is nice.
Kylef7735 1 year ago
@Kylef7735 Great answer Kyle...thanks for fielding that one.

@nutnfancy Glad to help nutn, i will all i can.
I just started a new job, so i have little time to do it, but i still will try as much as i can.
Kylef7735 3 months ago
@eastonk for EDC tanto really dosent have much use except in an emergency tactical role. in my experience in knives tanto points dont get in the way at all even in EDC but its more personal opinion and what to you has a more second type of cool.

How is the black TiNi coating on the Aegis, do's it where off easily? Im thinking about picking one up and I'm concerned about how easy the black TiNi coating will where off. and if any one has the full black Aegis is the gimping sharp because i know the plane AUS8 blade with no coating has dull gimping.
zerocashvalue 1 year ago
@zerocashvalue it's good. no finger prints, it doesn't scratch easily and it looks great. I also have a flash 1 with tini coating.

also forgot to add, after spending a time carrying the aegis, two huge cons.
1hogfan83 1 year ago
i have the aegis. bought it after watching this review and a few others and that coating comes off pretty much right after you cut through your first piece of paper. it is super light it is super sharp but it it goes dull super fast. after a week of carrying i went back to old tried and true, my D2 mini griptillian. sharpen it once a month wether she needs it or not, most of the time she dosent. I cut through everything with her too, tried with the aeigis nope. she's pretty but thats it.
1hogfan83 1 year ago
Please NutNFancy I need you on more SOG Reviews.
Boricuaso77789 1 year ago
Personally I really like these type of locks. With liner locks I'm always afraid that if I'm in a hurry I might cut my thumb during the closing of the blade.
VinceFull 1 year ago
A quick question for Nutnfancy or anyone else who may know: I'm stoked on this blade, want to buy one, but just have one question: Is that bayonet clip reversible? I ask because I'm a lefty and this is always consideration for me with guns, knives etc. Appreciate the help!
