  • This was the time when the rock roll singers were thin! Now all the guys are fat!

  • Jesus this is the best UH live video .. where did you find this???

  • Even that he was a great musician, he can't travel faster than lightning :P

  • love the manic performance and the psychedelic effect on the video adds alot to the video.

  • thanks, it is great!!!!!!!!

  • Good work at the video. It's made for this song.

  • Dont argue wich version its best this one or Gamma Rays, That depends on the point of view, the two versions are very diffrent styles. of course its a Uriah song, so its the orginal, Gamma Ray its a cover. Its like saying The Trooper of Iron Maiden its better played by Metallica. In my opinion Gamma Ray version its better.

  • i saw this band in concert about 3 years before this when they played at the Kinsmen Field House in Edmonton,Alberta,Canada during their tour for the Look At Yourself album. My two brothers and I had been smoking hashish in the car on the way to the concert. We were stopped by two city cops who frisked us and took our hash pipe. Fortunately they didn't find the hash in my shirt pocket and I got to smoke it at the concert. Otherwise I would have been BUSTED!!!

  • @BBINGHAM032352 MICHAEL TSARION IS THE OWRLDS PREMIER CONSPIRACY RESEARCHER/LECTURER/AUTHOR. DR. BILL DEAGLE, JORDAN MAXWELL AND ALEXANDRE DUMAS PERE ARE HIGHLY INFORMATIVE AS WELL. P.S. MELTING EUPHORIA IS SIMILAR TO OZRIC TENTACLES AND GONG.

  • I want to die listening to this song... i knew it all my life..... Uriah Heep.... I...love you

  • David sings bad here... but damn, what a frontman!!

  • @paulodomic probally high :(

  • David was the most brilliant singer. The band was never the same without him. Thank you for sharing!

  • The music is floating on a bed of organ drones! Brilliant music!

  • this look like the year i saw them in medford oregon, status quo opened for them,, wow bring back memories!

  • Wetton's bass lines are superb!

  • the best version is avaliable at teh magicians birthday DVD...

  • This is one band from the seventies that i just cannot get into.

  • @tomfy1979 Why don't you come to our party and just open your mind

  • URIAH HEEP is a greatest rock band! It's a masterpiece!

  • WET YOUR PANTS THIS IS STUPID.

  • does anyone have or know if there is a movie with the song "Circle of Hands" live with David Byron? :)

  • I remember seeing this on tv. Back then you saw your favorite band very seldom because....there was no youtube!!!! Anyway, this song is a result of the band trying to get away from the magic and wizard thing they had created. Any band would welcome it nowadays. The Heep sound was more commercialized here I think.

  • Yes, I saw them play this on Don Kirchner's Rock Concert and was hooked. BTW, there was no MTV, either. For the most part, it was either Don Kirchner's Rock Concert, the Midnight Special, American Bandstand, and Soul Train. If you didn't catch those weekly shows, that was it until the next weekend.

  • 1968 Ford Torinos 8 track players and Uriah Heep played loud......Get em Jimi ...RIP James Milton Kroplesky this is for you!!!!! We always miss you midnight auto supply

  • seems like the most of the comments concerns Byrons hair or lack of voice. But dont you hear what amazing musicians the band consists of!!!?? they´re great. Look at the drummer and the keyboardist. This song or band is nothing without them....

  • Heep were always one of my fave bands growing up, and they still are. I have to say though, that Byron's singing here is dreadful. It's like he is half singing and half speaking. Maybe he should have put a little more effort into his singing and a little less effort in prancing around like a rock star on the stage at this point. Sad, because he was so great earlier on. Also, I never thought that John Wetton fit well at all in this band.

  • This is really the downhill slide for classic Uriah Heep. Gary Thain has been replaced and this song is so tedious with its "Fantasy" chorus that I find it almost unlistenable. And then firing David Byron a year or 2 later just iced it. Still, they should be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

  • Uriah Heep numbers one

  • i was born in 64 so i just got in on the last of the classic rock era. most "rock" post 1990 is utter shit.

  • Звездный состав Хипов. Фантастически красивая песня. Моя молодость...

  • Good,I really hate that I was born in the era of bad music,I really would kill to see just one old Uriah Heep show,or Zeppelin,or Deep Purple,or Black Sabbath,or Pink Floyd instead of Rihanna or Tokyo Hotel....Good old times

  • Well you still have the chance... If I'm not mistaken, Uriah Heep is still playing. I saw them live last summer :D

  • @VBranberg Yes I know, and I'm shure they still kick some serious ass,but it's not the same, hope you understand,I've seen deep purple 4 times, but I would kill to see them with Blackmoore in the early 70's...also if Steve Morse si one of my fav guitarrists...

  • This TYPE of Musix SCARES the Children to DETHS DOOR!

  • This music is from a totally different era than what I grew up in...stumbled across it by accident. I'm not really into the style but I love the lyrics.

    Can you understand

    That in every man

    There's a need to unwind

    That's never been defined

    Somewhere deep within

    There's another being

    You are somehow abusing

    By the person you're using

There's a level of depth there that is missing in a lot of modern music.

  • poor Mr Box playing with a cast on his arm.......

  • One of my favorite bands ever. John Wetton is one great bass player -- I preferred Gary Thain... but only because I believe that was the best lineup when he was there.

  • great heep VIVA¡

  • Uriah Heep at their best!

  • Gee ... John Wetton playing bass !! Awesome

  • great....

  • Byron had a great voice, too bad he looked and acted like a french poodle...

  • He was an artist not only a singer

  • so how the fuck does a french poodle 'ACT' u total RETARD !

  • Comment removed

  • look at Byron and maybe you understand what chamma1 wanted to say - or do you have to less Fantasy ??

  • i will ask the question again, how does a french poodle 'act' ? or do you have less brain cells than chamma1

  • jewsfromthevalley is right, that was the

album where heep lost their fantasy,if you compare it to the authentic beginning, incredible awesome ,even the

tunes are rough and not perfect,i love them all, even Byron s voice is not perfect

,listen to the live album, but they were innovative and cool, then somewhere they burned out ...... evenless they wrote

history and went their own way

  • Every album from Heep is different ... and very controvertial among its fans ... for me return to fantasy is great

  • Linda Música

  • Classic track! I love the hyper-seventies live performance also.

  • Scooby-Doo 'boards ahoy! wow. so glad i was alive in the 70's!?!

my man, Wetton was drunk (no objections, here -- i'm SO on board) and trying to pay a mortgage at the time... ALLEGEDLY. thankfully, this "collaboration" was short-lived... IMO

  • This is THE GREATEST video on YOUTUBE! I can watch this all day! URIAH HEEP FOREVER!!!!

  • welcome to the internet

  • Nahhhhhhh....."Sunrise - Live 1973" is a MUCH-better representation of the Heep-experience!! We used to go see them at the Farm Show Arena (Harrisburg, PA) RELIGIOUSLY!!!!! (Late-'60s/early-'70s; back when the musicians were actually instrumental-TECHNICIANS!!) Try some o' THAT, Green Day!

  • Well said I remember Harrisburg!!

  • @TitoAGoGO ALEXANDRE DUMAS PERE WROTE OVER 400 HISTORICAL NOVELS EXPOSING WORLD TYRANNY(rOMAN cATHOLIC eMPIRE). THE SOCIETY OF JESUS(JESUITS) HAVE BEEN EXPELLED FROM 83 COUNTRIES AND THEIR POPE IS ARAMIS AND HE IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO(GENERAL OF THE JESUITS)

  • Though I think the studio version is better as David is not at his best here, it's wonderful to see this footage. It was the Return to Fantasy-tour when I saw Heep live for the first time. What a great band this once was! Thanks so much for posting! <3

  • Spinal Tap must have been influenced by this

  • What concert is it from? I've seen this video and Shady Lady, that's amazing.

  • who is gamma ray , not even they aren better that hellowen , please uriah heep is uriah heep

  • @23266334 Noooo!!!!!

  • @23266334 Gamma ray is made by kai hansen- maker of helloween, and they are infitite times better :P Also they have a good cover of this song :D

  • @DioIsTheBest If Gamma Ray is so much better we'll be enjoying them on their Stadium Tour pretty soon, maybe we all should preorder our tickets since those tickets probably go fast. BTW. Kai Hansen aint gonna like that you dissing Uriah Heep. I guess its just Fantalk, maybe you should worship your Justin Bieber Poster just a little more. Cheers.

  • @Peterdidit I didn't mean to be disrespectfull to uriah keep, besides music is really a matter of choice There's no better or worse band. I was apparently jokking about the infinite times better, hence the ":p" emoticon xD

  • BEST ever from UH! Love this Song!

  • Great to see a live version of one of my favorite Heep songs! Byron seems a little dis-engaged, but the whole thing sounds so much more fierce than the studio recording. [And with John Wetton on bass and backing vocals, just before his UK project!!]

  • Muito boa performance desta banda, neste periodo muitas pessoas, por pensar diferente foram mutiladas e alijadas na mais cruel ditadura neste nosso Cone Sul. Isto não é uma FANTASIA!!.

  • I'm going to see them live at the Sweden Rock Festival. :D

  • One of my all time favorite songs. Main line enegry all thru out there live shows as you can see.

  • Comment removed

  • I saw this band 4 or 5 times back in the 70's they were one of the best live bands i ever saw right there with deep purple and maybe zeppelin not sure about that one but they were a great band. To bad Byron had a dope and alcohol problem, he could sing and was a great showman.

  • I prefer gamma ray's cover version

    Hensen's is vocal much better

  • Gamma Ray is good power metal band, but wtf? They have a cover of this? I haven't heard it. And also, hansen is better than byron? That's a lie.

  • It's a bonus track on Somewhere out in Space.

  • Thanks for posting. Now I have to dig out my old vinyl.

  • Byron ist drunk.

    Hensley good as ever

  • HAHA! Wonder if the average age of "The Commenters here" is above 17 yrs!

Anyway, is it "a sign 'o the times" or do you DEFENITELY like you're dads rocks ?

  • John Wetton is a fucking PHENOMINAL player.

  • woops, *phenomenal

  • Ok, I really like this song/band. But isn't this i quite bad preformance by Ken Hensley?

  • Erhm ... I mean bad performance by BYRON of course!

  • great 3

  • pubes on the head! great

  • greaaaaattttttttttt!

  • I love the spooky keyboard sound in the intro

  • this is really cool,.good old times ,.greate,..a milestone,..impressive

  • This is one of the bands best tracks.

  • yes, Wetton's work w/ Crimso is stellar; great w/ Family, too. he has a "vigorous, muscular touch with the bass" (nod to author, Eric Tamm), creating a fantastic sound... v. exciting

looking a little out of place here...

  • indeed john wetton, magnificent in king crimson

  • One of the best CD's in my collection.

  • Sweet jesus...! Humans can be so fucking right on track! Makes me proud to be ape. peace

  • my favorite heap album

  • They guys're corny

  • That is a sad failure at grammar.

  • if you are wondering if the bass player looks familiar? it is its john wetton who would latter lead the band asia. thats right.

  • Yes you are right! He was play at UK together with Bill Brufford ( Yes).

  • your bloody right there ragnoca.

  • After the german version of lady in black, im glad to see that there is a real Uriah Heep.... this is a five star for me.

  • Listen to Gamma Ray's cover of this track. It's equally great IMO.

  • I recall watching this group live around 1975 with Mick Box wearing that cast on lead guitar, Convention Center Indianapolis, IN.

  • Wow, great music in the 1970s, David Byron at his best!

  • Very cool film. I had this on LP.

  • I just looked and saw you're from New Zealand..well that explains everything.

  • Hi nob jockey

This is coming from a guy that lives in the UK?? Lets see.... what does the UK have....lovely weather, wonderful open minded people, no pollution, uncrowded beaches, great local television (especially the soaps and fantastic weather (oops i already mentioned that).

I bet you like chips and curry sauce, a pint of bitter, a game of darts and sitting in front of the coal fire for a nice pull on your casper pastey white pin dik. Please keep it coming. You are a hoot.

  • Well Hello again,

I don't have a problem with NZ as a country, it looks beautiful, has a warm climate, and great food too I expect,

My problem is, the few people I have met from there are rude, offensive , and love making derogatory comments..just like you in fact.

YesI eat chips, don't eat curry sauce, I drink cold Lager, not bitter, Don't play darts, I don't have a fire at all, central heating does the job, and I have no need or desire to pull my " dik".

  • Hi NJ.

If you read most of the posting here it is from poms making derogatory comments. I doubt many kiwis would a give a rats about your comments anyway but the fact you have no desire to pull your dik is interesting. Must mean you either you have no dik, or you have a pakistani boyfriend to do it for you hahaha. Thanks for the accurate summation of NZ by the way. Yes we have all of the above and more. You dont work at a steel works by any chance?

  • You're such a child...I hope puberty isn't too stressful for you.

  • not at all, its great fun. Living in paradise, soaking up the culture and the amazing lifestyle. Dont worry old bean, im sure you will save up for your weekend away in blackpool hahahahaha

  • KILLER

  • a masterpiece!

  • wow. I don't see this song since I was a child

  • I saw Heep Return To Fantasy Tour in'75!Woa!!!

  • Is there no video from Wonderworld out there???

  • Die hard FAN.Music is my drug of choice. And I won't Breath without Heep. The BEST EVER....

  • one of my favorite songs of HeeP,RIP David!!!!AWESOME!!!!

  • This is melodic space rock at it's best! long live david byron!! peace

  • I dont know if I`m leaning too much out of the window, but I would consider UH even as the pathfinder of melodic metal..what do you think?

  • Wow, I'm not the one with that idea! I'm with you, Uriah Heep are the real fathers of melodic metal.

  • I still don't see why people insist on calling them heavy metal. They were hard rock/psychedelia.

  • psychedelica? not really, that;s from the sixties like the pink floyd and the beatles, not uriah. more a sort of synth/hammond hardrock. nice song, but my favotite is beautiful dream.

  • This is AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • Genial !!!

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!Uriah Heep FOREVER!!!!!

  • return to fantasy: geweldig nummer van deze supergroep.

  • Wow, nobody will deny that U.H. hard rock music is like drugs ... You feel high and hovering once you hear the sound

Thanks David Ken Mic and the other guys!

  • What a band... David Byron is the Freddy Mercury of the 70's... Or Mercury is the Byron of the 80's...

  • Freddie..not Freddy...Mercury was the Freddie Mercury of the 70's you twat !!

  • twat

  • Talon...

    I Thankyou.

Perhaps if you get someone to teach you how to type words longer than 4 letters , you could explain why you sent me that intelligent comment.

  • Perhaps you could lick my left one. Anyone who gets put off a band due to somebodys hair must be a nob jockey.

  • You prick, I meant Byron's hair put me off what I was typing..it was a joke/silly comment..whatever.

Now anyone who types, "maybe he was drunk or can't be bored"..can't be bored..wtf does that mean ?

  • OH that was a typing error. It was meant to say "bothered". That that that is cleared up can you actually find a better comeback? Anybody who attacks spelling etc usually lacks any wit at all.

  • Oh right, and the repeated use of the phrase " nob jockey " is wit ..right ?

Just face it, you saw my comment about Byrons hair, and didn't bother to read comments below..and got it totally wrong..making yourself look like a prick!

  • by the way the "that that that" repetition is also piss take nob jockey. HAHAHAHA

  • is he john wetton on bass??

  • Yes.

I've got this on DVD:Live in Byron era

  • This takes me back !! I saw the guys on The Return to Fantasy tour at The Odeon, Edinburgh with my mate Mike. I think it was the only gig I was at where I had front row seats ( In the days where you sat at gigs !! )I also remember getting a plectrum from Mick Box ( one of the few guitarists who could get personalised plectrums with their name on !! )

  • I would say, he's a best showman in UK

  • Byron was the great showman of UH.

  • A very bad singing from Byron.

  • guess thats why he left '76 ;-P

  • Excellent!!!

A rare video!, on a great song from the "HEEP"

    This material is GOLD!

    Thanks for posting it

    Long Live Uriah Heep!!!!!!!!!

  • I think Byron falls down in 3:12...

  • He did that specially.

  • i don't know why but Iron Maiden in the begginigs sounds like uriah to me :) but i love Uriah very much my 83 year old grandma listens them almost everyday for a very long time :)

  • Mes 20 ans.

  • shame that David wasted his talent, he was gifted with so much...

  • Fantasy...fantasy....fantasy....sing Byron for the love of God sing.

  • Thanks for putting this up. It's great.

Byron looks slightly comical prancing about, but back when I was 15 he was my absolute rock hero.

  • he is either drunk or cant be bored. He isnt eben trying to really sing. Legendary singer but like a lot of them they have some bad nights haha. This is terrible but his antics take your mind off the flat notes at times.

  • I like a lot of Uriah Heep's material. But this illustrates what made them often goofy or just plain bad: David Byron. With all due respect to the man since he is dead, watch his peacock posturing and bad phrasing and strident voice. Let the flames fly if you must but I still like a lot of Heep.

  • As I'm reading this I'm listening to the re-mastered "In Rock" by Deep Purple...now that's what i call...music.

  • I love the studio version... this live one I'm not sure about:(

  • Actually, RTF is a decent enough album, a bit of a 'grower' maybe (like H and M). This version of the song RTF is excellent, far better (and more sinister) than the studio version. Is it on any bootlegs, does anyone know?

  • John Wetton was the Bass player for 2 albums - "RTF" and "High and Mighty". He also sings the 1st song on High and Mighty

  • John wettons sings One way or another on high and mighty.

Return to fantasy...I can only say...great great song :D .

  • learn something everyday, I didnt know John Wetton was with Uriah Heep.

  • John Wetton played with everyone! LOL

  • sorry, make that Fantasy, Byron's hair put me off lol

  • I had the return to fanysay album..for about a week, never bought another Heep record after that

  • lol..Easy Livin' with different words

  • not at all. just the rythm. this is a far more sinister song

  • In fact, if you listen it's Easy Livin and Sweet Lorraine mixed together

  • you can't hear?

  • Yes biribikan, I hear perfectly well, and I can hear Uriah Heep running out of ideas and recycling previous songs..if you can't hear that maybe YOU need a deaf aid.

  • John Wetton was coming off the breakup of the 1972-74 greatest version of King Crimson.

  • Heeps last musical swansong.

This bands epic genius was ignored and their run for a mill rockers are on all kinda compilations. BUT its these Epic songs that ARE what Heeps all about. Explore em all!

  • I was 15 when this song changed my life!

  • Anything with DAVID BYRON!!!!!

(Deep Purple is great, but URIAH HEEP is SO FAR OUT!!!! POETRY< MUSIC<HALLUCINATIOOOON)

  • Good to see David Byron fronting the band, and John Wetton, I believe. Stylistically a bit like Purple but not as good. Still like them however.
