I'm glad you have an awareness and that you helped pick up litter. But will it really make a difference? Would you rather have all the trash in one massive, giant landfill or dispersed throughout the land. Landfills do not correct the litter problem. The Land, Water, and Air Is becoming more polluted than ever. I am very worried about "Super Fund Sites" that are toxic and have yet to be cleaned up. Just search for Super Fund Sites to learn more about them.

Fines are ok.. but i think there should be more than that, Im not talking about jail time or anything like that.. but maybe some required commiuntiy service, along side with the fine.. would possibly help a little bit more..
You could draft plans for an intiative involving public advertising against littering, starting with a consultation document. I could see it as possible business venture...
- do we need the basic intro? i think everyone knows what litter is. this way you could cut it down to a leaner 5 mins.
anyway, nice idea, maybe take a more original stance (it's kinda boring) and with some fine tuning you could be on your way to a prize at that competition!

It's a cultural thing. When I visited Japan last summer there was not a piece of litter anywhere, it was so pristine. They ascribe a very high value to cleanliness.

We have to keep dumping fees down to deter people from dumping in the fields.
The worst of litter is the chemicals and contaminates that are destructive poisons.
Unfortunately the big industries dump chemicals in the air and water in shocking amounts.
