  • Are you accredited?

  • They have also found much of the so called "Organic Agava Nectar" is mixed and diluted with corn syrup. Some well know brands as well.

  • You really know how to beat the hell out of a point!

  • It may be true that agave is really high in fructose, but honey is 70-80% fructose as well. hmmm.

  • you probably had blue agave not the white one

  • real agave does not taste very sweet

  • how can a low gi food have high doses of "sugar" in it? i mean isn't that what the glicemic index is all about?

  • Oh come on, fruits have had fructose in them for millions of years, ITS FINE, we've evolved to handle it. (Check out the veneers on you girl! I think you got them a few sizes to big HAHA!)

  • My doctor said that agave nectar was a great alternative for sugar so, unless you are a filthy rich doctor like him, I'm gonna trust my doctor.

  • @BigBagOfFun How do you think your doctor got so filthy rich? He got so rich by TREATING SICK PEOPLE, so why would you take his advice?

  • You react but that doesn't mean ITS BAD for everyone? its like saying a BEER is bad for everyone lol... I think you are making a BIASED opinion based on your values and experiences but those don't apply to everyone

  • So I'd like to start off by saying that agave is not necessarily a health food, but you stated that it does not have a low glycemic index which is FALSE. Agave syrup has a glycemic index of 15-30 (depending on brand/processing), tying it with fructose for the lowest GI of any sweetener that isn't artificial with the exception of Stevia (which has a GI of 0). That means it's typically lower than raw honey (30) and much MUCH lower than table sugar (80) and high fructose corn syrup (87). Moreover,

  • Sugar of ANY KIND should be enjoyed in moderation

  • nice teeth, most raw people have fucked up teeth.

  • @bladdan Those are veneers buddy, they grind down your teeth and put a layer of white ceramic or glass onto them. They aren't real!

  • I don't trust your opnion

  • The same thing happened to me when I first had agave. I work at a raw vegan restaurant and I urk at the thought of ever having it.

I know if I have agave. I'll be anxious and lethargic all day.

  • Yeah I just bought some too, organic agave nectar. it's not all agave nectar I've researched, it's the blue agave nectar it's highly processed and they use a genetically modified enzyme in it.

  • GREAT, i spent 6 dollars for 2 bottles of it. worst of all, i just consumed a few oz of it :(((. OMG YOU KNOW WHAT, im gonna THROW THREM AWAY :( i just wasted my money

  • Dr Mercola already explained why to stay away from Agave. just google Dr Mercola on Agave

  • My first and last bottle of agave, seven bucks going into the trash right now. Thx for the info

  • Full on lieing! i always eat Agave-necter. thats the only sweetner i can have! and it doesnt even make my blood go high or nothing as in sick or dizziness! so i recon you all are using the wrong Agave-necter..

  • @BeautifulKt More likely, as with most nuts who practice self-imposed dietary restrictions, she's "tuned" her digestive system to be intolerant of fructose. Fructose malabsorption produces symptoms similar to what a lot of these guys are describing.

Agave is no worse for you than honey, and certainly no worse than table sugar. If you're diabetic, though, you probably should look into stevia. She's right about that much. Stevia is actually GOOD for diabetics, whereas agave is basically neutral.

  • agave is very bad for you, she is right

  • Two things.

    1) every food isn't for every body. (THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER WHEN PRACTICING ANY DIET.)

    2) most studies are European based with the caucasian body type in mind.

  • Just as an extra comment - Agave is as "basic" as eating fruit. It grows wild in Mexican regions where the natives have gathered it for a long, long time. You don't need to process it to get the sweetness, the natives in fact even drink it straight up.

  • So, in other words, Agave is in fact NOT "bad for you" - It just isn't any better for sweet tooth or diabetic people.

  • what's with the attitude? sheesh.

p.s. are you a medical doctor? Did you do substantial trials with agave syrup?

  • @Zanirtak-of course not, she isn't a doctor, she is making a commercial for her company.

Mexicans had been eating for centuries but this fool is lying

  • I would like to see some substantial proof or study that agave and or raw agave is bad for you. You talk about negativity and how to stay positive; well this video is laced with personal bias, absolute statements, and your own interpretation of other peoples ideas that you regurgitated. We have to have some sugar in our diet as our cells and our brain need it. If not from agave, honey, or fruit then where.

  • @rj2837 or maple syrup! :) and I agree with you, I'm doing a lot of research and so far I've only heard it's low on the glycemic index so I'm not sure what this person is talking about.

  • I have a sugar sensitivity too and I just don't eat anything with sugar. I'll eat dark chocolate or some fruit every no and then to make sure I get my sugars. I can't even eat fruit everyday. haha.

  • I find your opinion within the short movie very personal (subjective) something can be of hihg fructose true however what if this fructose is derived naturally? what if the plant itself has a high fructose value? this is natural then right?

i think you can use it yes however use less agave than you would use sugar. dont forget if sucrose (table sugar) is 100 fructose is somewhere around 160.

  • dates and figs are extyremely high glycemic load

  • Give me some proof because HFCS tastes like shit and is actually bad for you; I eat food without that crap (HFCS) and it tastes a hundred times better!

  • hAn Ji,..Which 'Brands' of AgaveNectar did you Try? REAL RAW ORGANIC AGAVE has ONLY ONE Ingredient. It is Completely Pure Agave Plant, ONLY. It is Not necessarily RAW, however... For mass production, it is generally Heated first, but is Not necessary for the TOTALLY 100% PURE RAW ORGANIC Sweetening effect. Devotamente. XoleXXXelphinX

    { a 342? yr Old jiv', living INside HALEAKALA w/a SOULAR LapTOP, i make my AGAVE from 'SilverSword Cactus'}

  • I so agree with her...getting away from sugars is the best thing..spending hours on a dessert, soaking nuts, etc, when you should just have a piece of fruit...I only use a sweetener on my home made granola..

  • This woman is a crack head...please show us published peer reviewed information showing facts that support this

  • I think it just didn't agree with her ONE day; did she try it again a year later? oh dear, honey is bee sugar; it's sugar so is fruit; someone needs some schooling.

  • you have one provided

  • PLease Subscribe to me ;)...Love the Cool Video, thanks...

  • Completely agree. Great video.

  • Totally wrong, I'm doctor dietitian. The agave nectar is fantastic. for Diabetics need to medical observation. It has many wonderful properties. Not because you felt bad. this could happen to others. False. Totally false. It's like saying you are allergic to cats. Then the cats are bad. If you understand me?, you should discuss this matter before exposure, there are many people using agave syrup and all is well. wonderful.

  • @John06601 Dietist? Dietitian? Doctor? Or none of the above? You do not sound the least bit convincing in what you say. Perhaps you have a vested interest in this poison?

  • totally wrong, absolutly wrong. I am a dietist

  • This woman is totally wrong.

    I am a Doctor.

  • Fructose is fucking sugar. Why do you keep saying there is no sugar in a diet plan that has fruit in the plan?

  • WARNING STEVIA IS A MUTAGEN :WICH MUTATES OUR CELLS AS IT COMES IN CONTACT WITH THEM..STEVIA IS A HYBRID PLANT NOT WILD OR NATURAL STAY AWAY PLEASE..LOOK IT UP......!Hybrid plants are plants produced by impregnating the pistil of one species with the pollen of another. It's not natural plant found in nature it was created by this prosses.

  • oMG i never know this !! I thought it was good for you!!! I use it all the time!!! I'm so sad!!!

  • Back to basics is the best option.

  • Agave nectar IS low glycemic, as in low in glucose. It is high in fructose hence the similarity to high fructose corn syrup.

  • Natasha, what do you think about raw evaporated cane juice?

I watched this video because I think agave gives me acne

  • what do you think about stevia ?

  • @valdezmiguel2

You seriously have issues that YOU need to sort out in your life, if you even have one, reading your highly negative comments on other user accounts i'd say you seriously don't have your own life priorities right.

  • If you cant get enough ppl to see your site,Not many ppl know it but an affiliate program is the only real solution to that,My advice would be the GAS system,Because it is the only one easy to install by anyone, all others require high coding skills,GAS-AFFILIATEdotCOM is where to get it.

  • White stevia is disgusting tasting.

  • @DarkShadowM99

    green stevia tastes much better

  • My heart races when i eat raw honey and stevia (the white powder form) makes me feel like i just ate poison. Agave nectar doesn't seem to affect me negatively and i am very sensitive to sugar. I think everyone's different.

  • @tigerkitten927 white stevia has been refined using ethanol and methanol. It is extracted at high temperatures and when you heat something like that (especially herbs) it has no real health benefits. Real stevia powder is green. It does have an aftertaste though.

  • So many great videos...!

  • Geez, I just bought a bottle of agae a few days ago. Wish I saw this first, but I have been hearing that about agave, just didn't believe until now, I think that is why I have a low grade fever after I drink it in my tea, I thought I was getting sick.

  • for awhile i haven't really trusted anyone's opinion on agave but i trust yours cuz you actually tried it and had a bad reaction to it. that's the kind of feedback about agave i've been looking for. i've read a few articles on it but i can really only understand so much scientific mumbo gumbo.

  • farewell agave....

  • Hi Natasha, thank you for posting this..I had agave nectar recently in a small dose and I experienced some of the same symptoms you were talking about: heart palpitations, dizzy. I had no idea and also thought agave nectar was health but indeed some people have a sensitivity

  • Have you looked up the glycemic index on agave nectar? Prove it to yourself, go to glycemic index.com. YOU ARE WRONG! It is a low glycemic food.

Who cares how it affects you? Check out the facts people. This spaced out chick has no clue.

  • @nosuca99 She's marketing and playing on hysteria of credulous people. Eat a burger, you'll be fine. Don't let her make you paranoid.

  • @nosuca99 Fructose doesn't affect the liver negatively. I don't know what the hell she's talking about.

  • What about brown rice syrup? Is this okay on a raw food diet? I tried to Google it but couldn't find the answer. Thanks. :)

  • Hehe. I was in Trader Joe's a few months ago and I had a sample coffee with Agave in it. It tasted exactly like i poured 50 tsp. of sugar in there!!!

  • Interestingly enough, dates give me that feeling you get when you have agave. Agave doesn't bother me so much, I normally only eat a teaspoon here in there in tea or salad dressings.

  • @tigerlilyxoxo Same here. It doesn't sound like you're addicted or struggling with it, so moderation, in my opinion, is fine. As she said, listening to your body is key

  • I totally agree with you Natasha.

  • oh lord. why do i have to see this right after i buy a bottle of agave? however, i trust your opinion.

  • Obviously Rawradiant has not checked the studies concerning Agave nectar on any sites like Pubmed.gov or Dr. Sebi from the Usha research Institute in Hondouras, it would be very interesting to get a copy of her research

given the fact that other Herbalist are recording possitive results, or just maybe she is one of those who suggest and or recommends the use of Splenda

    Ardie1939@gmail.com

  • @sunflowertheory dude I just bought 2 bottle agave nectar!!! well I just bought the shit I'm going to eat it

  • @spareld NOOO they gonna do worse for you, just throw in the trash. better than paying for your surgery in the future :D

  • @buttercado girl bye I'm not rich like you...I'm not just going to throw things away

  • @sunflowertheory almost a year after from you, I made the same mistake :((

  • What is the source of this information about agave being unhealthy? What tests have been done? Does this apply to ALL agave, or just some brands that are refined or have other ingredients? Can it be healthy for some? A nutritionist tested her blood sugar before and after eating Agave and Raw Honey. It only rose a few points after the Agave, and nearly 40 points after the Raw Honey. You can find her experiment on YouTube. Her name is "silviefoodie."

So what is REALLY going on?

  • Thanks for talking about this! I have said this for a while now and so glad people are getting the word out:)

  • i was just thinking of buying some agave nectar today but did not, this video was so convenient! thanks soo much!

  • im pregnant can i do the 7 day raw food challenge safley? im a vegeterian

  • what about coconut nectar by coconut secret? it is apparently from coconut sap and raw and low GI. Have been wanting to get their products..

  • Eat a sweet peach, or honeydew melon or other melons that are sweet. Eat what is in season... Summer is a great season for fruits... Along with the sweetness you get the live emzymes that feed your cells. I hear that honey is an antibiotic, which is a good thing!!!

  • It's true that Agave isn't too healthy. Another point worth knowing is that most of it comes from Mexico. Even if they tell you that its all organic/healthy ect., its usually not the case. Their regulations are very poor, but its known that they will label the products with great standards even when they are not.

  • @RITRTR same as every country pretty much !

  • Sugar: The Bitter Truth..............on youtube

  • What about pure maple syrup?

  • thanks for putting this information out there - I have been spreading the word myself since I first found out the truth about agave..it made me very angry that we were told how great it was for us.

  • @GreylinRose I'm getting the word out about this too, after being mislead for the past 13 years that this stuff was safe enough for diabetics and assuming that meant it's a free food! Label didn't warn to use in moderation! And so I drank several cups of tea per day, each with a heaping tsp of this stuff! I can testify that agave is harmful to our health, as I've developed hypertension, dizziness, weight gain, rapid pulse, from an organic vegan raw food diet with this shit as my poison!

  • Natasha what do you think about blackstrap mollasses, though its processed its said to be filled with minerals (irin, magnesium, copper) and has been linked with shrinking fibroids, lessening menstral flow and is also said to be low glycemic. Please let me know your view is it any good ??

  • i hope to try one of your challenges in the fall or winter when things slow down a bit.

  • I was at the store today and saw agave nectar, Being in the beginning stages of introducing raw foods into my system, I remembered reading somewhere that some raw foodists actually use this. As I reach for the bottle I get this very sick feeling and withdraw my hand. I am very glad I followed my inutition and didnt buy it, now I know why. Thanks for posting!!!

  • Stevia sounds good, thanks Natasha

  • right, agave is highly processed, whacks out your blood sugar, and was a bit of a scam.... we're finding out. ok in small doses, 1 tbs. here or there, but not a 1/2 c!

  • White stevia powder and stevia liquid are just stevia extract, but I know what you mean by the heavily processed white powders. Just be aware of what you are buying! I am 100% with on feeling satisfied with fruit. For special occasions I'll use really raw honey in pies and such, but other than that it's super simple God made sweets for me: )

  • I just want to say again that you are awesome and thanks for the info...

  • What about stevia? I see so much about it. There are some things that you don't want to add aditional flavors to and so you need a neutral sweetner. For example I make a pico de gallo that everyone loves but it really needs one spoon of sweetner to offset the salt and hot flavors. I've tried stevia and it seems to work as well as sugar. I don't do any artificial sweetners but stevia is supposed to be natural. Thanks Nikki

  • @nikki4612 watch till the end she says what she thinks about stevia

  • I know agave is no good because it makes me vomit.

  • I saw that in costco...I didn't even know that was a sweetener ..I thought that was more like a liquor..jajaja...anyways..I have read that stevia is good for you...

  • I get some really wonderful pure raw agave syrup online from a raw vegan website. I haven't had any issues, but I have had issues with honey in the past. I think no two people will react the same way to any substance. Just my opinion.

  • "really wonderful" is totally subjective and of course you got it from a "raw vegan" website

If you haven't noticed any issues perhaps it is because you have a nonreactive system/constitution for all the years your body chemistry and immunity has taken a beating and perhaps the honey reaction was a healing reaction because toxins/invaders exit your system through your body on their way out

  • @gymbunny75 I don't have a "reaction" to agave either. However, since it contains such concentrated amounts of fructose it will be hard on the liver, similar to alcohol consumption, and it may cause fatty liver if you consume it regularly.

I personally eat agave every three months or so when I'm at a raw food café, and I don't think that's such a big deal. But it's not something I have at home, and I certainly wouldn't use it on a regular basis.

  • you look so great tan

  • thanks for the tip ;) i always used to look at the agave nectar in the store and wondered what it was like and why it was supposed to be good but never bothered trying it. Now i don't need to! lol.

  • STEV-via, it's pronounced. It's a South American herb and they pronounce it as a short E, as in EH.

  • So true about the sugar. I stopped eating sugar about a month ago because I made the connection between eating sugar and my slight mood swings. If I had eaten anything with sugar then after that I would just be irritated and upset and easily saddened by things. My skin cleared up a lot. I decided to eat a couple cookies the other day and AH! bad mood and acne straight-away. I also just cut all gums out of my diet (xanthan, acacia etc), they had even worse effects on me. Whole foods all the way.

  • @ForestSpiritPixie I avoid the gums too and helped a lot with my skin issues.

  • I agree we should be eating whole foods without using any kind of sweetener.

  • hi! what is your opinion on stevia powder? there is a little controversy over stevia and its negative side effects. what do you think?

    Great video on Agave Nectar!

  • @pinker90 : What is the controversy? Haven't heard any but what I don't like is that you are not getting sugar yet it is a sweet taste. I think that confuses the body somewhat. I am more in favor of combining raw honey and whole leaf stevia than to have stevia by itself.

  • @pinker90 she talks about stevia at the end of the video..
