I'm planning on remaking Wolfenstein 3D by scratch with Cryengine 3. Is there a way to make models in Blender and import them into Cryengine 3? And how do you make custom textures with GIMP???

!!!!!!!!! just downloaded CE3 form crydev, and its only showing up as hundreds of files in My Computer. Im new to this whole thing, so im not sure what went wrong. Most of the files wont open because i dont have the right programs to open them with. Please help!!!!

Cryengine def have the better graphics, but udk is easy to use.

Can someone answer this question for me?: Does the CDK allow you to import, export, and render other models and animations such as UDK? Or is it something like Far Cry 2's Map Editor only available for that game?

@GordanFreemann Yes and no. As far as rendering goes, you can import an asset from a program into the CE3 and then modify the texture, lighting, diffuse etc in the material editor. In terms of limits, CE3 is way more flexible than the Far Cry 2 Map editor, but I'm not quite sure about animations.

Can you make ANY kind of game in cryengine, like lets say a platformer game? Also, what programming languages does it support?

@JONIMASAKIS So far the free CE3 does NOT support platform games yet...Crytek has yet to release an update to the SDK for the engine. As for programming languages, so far it supports C++, XML and Lua. When support comes for Scaleform, then hopefully actionscript 3

@JONIMASAKIS Nope. I meant platformer games, not different consoles. CE3 SDK does NOT support it, unless either Crytek releases an update for the SDK or you buy a license for the engine.

You know. I literally just uninstalled UDK, Blender, LuxRender, and all my other 3D applications. I just logged into YouTube and see this... And now I'm probably going to be installing CDK and Blender at least. But I do have one question, which do you think is easier to learn, UDK or CDK?

UDK is really not as powerfull as CDK. CDK is more easier and is not crashing all the time.. Also the Devs are from Germany, like me. :D

@raven67854 For Me CDK crashes over and over, CDK just seems more buggy then UDK. But you got to keep in mind that the UDK has the benefit of time fixing bugs in there Editor. I think that CDK will catch up overtime and go beyond.

@AnnynN I came to hate UDK. Its buggy, and the interface is frustrating. There, I feel like I am working with a buggy grid, especially since if I miss the gizmo by a pixel, then my camera will move. In CDK, the whole control interface feels smooth and open.

The CDK will end up being superior, once it is updated to the latest version that supports DX11, plus general bug fixes of course.

The UDK has been out for a lot longer, so they've had more time to listen to community feedback to improve.... however CE3 is moving ahead really fast and is turning out great. I have high hopes for it.

@AnnynN If UDK crash for you, then your pc sux to much. UDK update the engine each month and works togheter with Nividia wich CDK DONT. Naab :)
