Well I have not run out of things to do yet! Wish I had of had room to show you some of the Chippendales over at the Rio. I got the vid but did not have room in that video. Will save to add on to future vid.
I'm looking forward to more neon videos for sure, downtown still hss the old school neon you have to admit, it covers the whole building in several cases... Fun video, looking forward to my next trip there. Badbearwatch
The Rio sign is flashy to be sure, but my favorite for some reason has always been on the Strip, the MGM Lion. When I stand there and see old Leo, I know I'm in Las Vegas-unfortunately too due to water restrictions Leo's fountains haven't gone full blast in years. i have a an old picture of him, 1999 or 2001, the fountains are going, he looked amazing then.
The MGM will be after the Rio. The MGM! One of my favortie hangouts! Mighty lot of material to work with there! My adrenaline is already starting to flow on that one!
Cool vid! I need some of that Railhead buffet prime rib right now! I love those signs and it is interesting to see ones like this one that I haven't been past before!:)
When I thought of that I thought of oxidated boneyard. I may look into that. I would really like to get some vid on the old Tam O'Shanter marque. They tore it down to make room for the Palazzo Resort. The owner, a lady, stood there in tears! As they lifted the sign away with a crane! She told me of her father and the history of that place. Cool! She was chubby and about 40 years old. She was looking for a boyfriend too. Go figure! :)
Lots of neon! I bet that is a good business to be in for the working man. I look forward to catching some of that neon! Good backdrops! ( see you tomorrow night )
Nice, new series you've started Rex. Hope you keep adding these types. It gives me a chance to see what's up...since I don't go out much.
Re: Buffets.
Mt favorite is at the Orleans (breakfast or lunch) cuz the have good fish (cod, halibut, catfish..etc.) Their BBQ area has good stuff too..plus the Mex, Chinese and American stations. But best is their salad bar.
Other wise we go to the Palms (closer, has some Armenian food and a younger looking crowd).
Wait. Let me not fail to add my list of worst buffets. The 2002 Horseshoe (the restaurant, people and food were too old) and 1999 Stratosphere (crowded...plus crying babies and wild kids).
That completes my Best and Worst List.
If I could I'd go try the Wynn Dinner Buffet.
I think it's about $35 but has primo food.
Also would like to try the new Planet Hollywood (shish kabob) plus Paris and Bellagio.
I never knew Horseshoe had a buffet. For me it is only good for the graveyard specials with the sleeziest people in town! But most of them are already hooked up for the night! But I will be too... Used to know them all. Horseshoe is not what it used to be. Elevator is even broken down as of last week.
Buffets generally are not for me. None of them. :)
I never knew they had a buffet at Binions until they gave cab drivers a free pass for Christmas. It had to be the weirdest buffet ever...in a junky little room that apparently was converted from something else entirely.
It was like the buffet in the 'Vegas Vacation' movie. Blue Macaroni, etc. haha.
hahaha I don't think they like cabbies there. About a month ago late at night a cop was outside giving the cabbies tickets one, two, three! Had them lined up! See, I told you there was no buffet at the Horseshoe! :)
One last short comment (sorry). In 6 years of cabbing I only picked up from downtown about 20 times. The cabbies down there are animals.
I'd drop off and head all the way back to the Palms. Other cabbies thought I was nuts to drive empty, but I didn't care. Plams had much better looking passengers. Especially on Fri & Sat. haha.
Thats ok Eric. I agree with your decision. The Palms is much better for fares. Much safer! Lots of good New York cheesecake with coffee. Loose slots too! :)
With so much good food to choose from at the larger places it is hard to go wrong. The little tummy won't hold but just so much. It is heck to over eat. That is a bad feeling. For me at the Orleans, do Mexican. For the Palms, cheesecake! ( with coffee ) Rio used to be the rage a long time ago. Still kinda good for me.
Big dinners! They make for extra weight. I do try to stay away from the buffets. The irresistable prices make it hard to say no. Most often I settle for a large stawberry shortcake stacked high.
I should have a lot of neon to video. Beautiful art. :)
you are so luck to live in such a fun place~
