I know these comments are old, but this program is amazing. Not enough credit is given to people who make GNU programs. I have used it and it can, in some areas, do more than the reactable can. The reactable is limited to tangible blocks where this is not. The people making this is doing us a favor. They are not being paid to make this software.
just a digital copy of the one and only reactable... the fascination of the principle of reactable is, that its a combination of digital and 'analogue'-touchable elements. that thing here is a poor attempt to copy it for the digital mass but in my opinion it fails!
lol this technology is amazing can't wait to have my own digital version of a reatable... but the song they make is annoying as hell! it looks difficult to match all the tempos up
nice, it would be cooler if you could get it working with a webcam and you got the user to print out special squares with your symbols on them. that would be like the low rent version of reactable. it could be set up to run on a blue table cloth or something.
still a nice program though does it export wav or midi?
Or not, Its the same principal behind the PS3 game "the eye of judgement"
as far as software is concerned the reactable works by using a videocamera under a glass table and each of the blocks has a symbol that represents each of the different items. the camera reads these blocks.
The visualisations are projected up using a pair of standard projectors. Not only that but the picture recognition software is open source.
It's not a matter of decent coding. Web cams are pretty low def and you wouldn't get anywhere near the accuracy that you would need to be able to do this effectively. Also you would have lighting conditions to content with and even the users hands in the way of the objects.
With the "under the table" solution the environment is much more stable.
I must say that I am not a musician, just a software developer, so sorry if this tech demo does not sound very interesting. I hope that musicians liking this software will make better demostrations in the future :) Anyway I think that this software is not ready yet for professional use, but it is on the way; and it is quite capable for experimentation, amusement and sound synthesis learning, actually.
Seulement voilà, voilà encore un exemple où "il suffit" de coller une boucle déjà toute composée pour se prétendre musicien. Je sais bien que cette démo est à titre d'exemple plutôt basée sur la partie technique de ce logiciel génial;

A decent coder could make the low rent reactable

What was the last loop you messed with?
I liked how it sounded. ;P
jtorcaz 3 years ago
It is an Aphex Twin song called Windowlicker. Its a great track, and actually sounds much better without messing with it :p

Cool!
How did you install PsycoSynth? Because I'm really confused. Can you help me? Thanks. :)
What operating system are you using?
