That door still looks too good to have done by B&B. I have worked indirectly for B&B in the past but it is not listed on my CV. I have never worked for any other company that has so many cowboys, and even management caught stealing do not get sacked. I have a lot of photos of their poor diy,er style of workmanship as I have had to put it right, and again, those people remain within the company.

Wew received the council inspection report today which basically states that under the housing health and safety act 2004 Amicus Horizon must carry out repairs to every room in our house. It also rejects Booker and Bests inspection and orders the repair of the spread roof and the leaky walls and many other repairs. Thank you Hastings council it took nearly five years to get to this but thats because Amicus Horizon are happy to break the law.
That is one of the big questions that Amicus Horizon refuse to answer. Why do they continue to use Booker and Best their record is dreadful and even when other authorities (Rother Council) stop using them because of a lack of quality Amicus Horizon still insist on inflicting them on their tenants it makes you wonder how they get these contracts.
thats ok i work for a building company and have tried approaching amicus to offer services but booker and best have a contract and i never get newhere to try and do work with them
this door is dreadful, i hear so many bad comments about booker and bests crafsmanship, if the metal door lining was a problem then it should have been removed and a timber one put in, it is absolute rubbish that a handle canot be fitted, you get recessed finger handles which are slim line and enable the door to slide past the lining, the head of the door is the most important as smoke rises and there should be smoke / fire strips around the perimeter
Hi daz. I think that they assume that the water dripping from the ceilings will quench any flames. The quality of their work is very poor indeed and amicus horizon (our landlords) have an even worse record for repairs. Thank you very much for taking the time to comment it is very much appreciated

Booker and Best came round today and took photographs of our new door which I have no objection to because if you are into doors it is a very fine example of good workmanship
but I do think it is very rude and not very nice to come into my house without even letting me know that he was here and to start taking photographs without asking. I know that many will think that I am being too picky and maybe its true because we don`t exactly have a good relationship but the fact is I do think it is wrong.
It is also a great pity that he did not take photographs of the damaged lounge ceiling-the damaged bathroom wall-the damaged bedroom ceiling- the cracked
front wall-the water dripping from the light fittings-the stairs-the missing insulation from the loft-the roof spread-the damaged clothes-and so on. I am very happy that they have finally fitted my door they have done an excellent job but the facts are (as the photographs will show) that this is not a typical example of an Amicus Horizon installation and neither is it a typical example of workmanship by Booker and Best for a social housing landlord.
This is one of those escape prosecution jobs that could not have been given more grudgingly.
My gas is back on but they did not photograph that either.
So I am genuinely and sincerely grateful that this door has now been properly installed and is now no longer a danger but it is really nothing more than a very delayed replacement to a very dangerous and faulty installation. The fact is they finally did one thing the way it was meant to be done in the first place.
When Amicus Horizon sent us 28,000 bank details by mistake the Hastings Observer leapt on that but they choose to let the badguys off the hook with everything else. hi guys i wonder why have i got photos of a boiler with a warning sticker from 2007 stating do not remove upto £5000 fine do not switch on upto £5000 fine ,then two stickers stating landlords certificates 2008,2009 however warning sticker still presant, it is stuck on the boiler because the flue is damaged,i cannot believe that the people who live in this property in beckley have been let down by s walker who i told some weeks ago that he had problems with the flues in this property.

Mr John Lawson-Smith who advises us that a new ruling was passed in the high court in June which in effect rules that All housing associations/charities from now on will be treated as "Public Bodies" this ruling gives new and extra protection to social housing tenants
Robert Poile from beckley says to Amicus Horizon: how can you leave illiegally fitted gas boilers at beckley at coombs cottages 5 families are living with potentially life threatening boilers as their gas flues are too close to windows and combustible materials can be blown into their homes. Have you got a special arrangement with gasafe to ignore safety regulations. Surely it would be better to send a gas safe registered plumber to inspect instead sophie sullivan our housing manager.
I`m not 100% certain on this but I think if you suspect there are any dangerous gas faults you can report them directly to the gas board number will be on any gas meter and they would disconnect/fix or condemn any dangerous installations

Booker and Best and Amicus Horizon caused over five thousand pounds worth of damage to my property and all I got was a cheque for forty pounds and an explanation that it is not policy to pay for damage that they cause. Our housing manager has refused to answer our correspondence or keep any appointments but he was the one who barred the children from the leisure centre so that just about says it all.

hi guys i wonder why have i got photos of a boiler with a warning sticker from 2007 stating do not remove upto £5000 fine do not switch on upto £5000 fine ,then two stickers stating landlords certificates 2008,2009 however warning sticker still presant, it is stuck on the boiler because the flue is damaged,i cannot believe that the people who live in this property in beckley have been let down by s walker who i told some weeks ago that he had problems with the flues in this property.

Despite everything that we have done their attitude has not changed one little bit but a simple search on google revealed their true colors we are not the only victims of amicus horizon or 1066 housing or any of the other names that they have used

Mr John Lawson-Smith who advises us that a new ruling was passed in the high court in June which in effect rules that All housing associations/charities from now on will be treated as "Public Bodies" this ruling gives new and extra protection to social housing tenants

Robert Poile from beckley says to Amicus Horizon: how can you leave illiegally fitted gas boilers at beckley at coombs cottages 5 families are living with potentially life threatening boilers as their gas flues are too close to windows and combustible materials can be blown into their homes. Have you got a special arrangement with gasafe to ignore safety regulations. Surely it would be better to send a gas safe registered plumber to inspect instead sophie sullivan our housing manager.

I`m not 100% certain on this but I think if you suspect there are any dangerous gas faults you can report them directly to the gas board number will be on any gas meter and they would disconnect/fix or condemn any dangerous installations

Booker and Bests bodgit and scarper attitude cost me and my husband a small fortune and complaining got me nowhere. Its about time they were scrutinized by someone Good Luck!

Booker and Best and Amicus Horizon caused over five thousand pounds worth of damage to my property and all I got was a cheque for forty pounds and an explanation that it is not policy to pay for damage that they cause. Our housing manager has refused to answer our correspondence or keep any appointments but he was the one who barred the children from the leisure centre so that just about says it all.

amicus horizon scamed all the kids out of a football kit, and now there doing it on fixing peoples properties, and if they was to do that door for me i wouldn't except it, its really dangerous, poor job!!

We`re not accepting it we just don`t want top be forced to have allow booker and best back into our home. We want it done properly not a bodgit and scarper job. No one here has forgotten what they did scamming the kids.

It was envisaged that Booker and Best would offer Rother District Council access to a wide range of trades including carpentry, painting/decorating, brick laying, plumbing and electrical.
In reality there have been some concerns about the ability of the contractor to provide this range of trades to an acceptable quality, response time or at a competitive rate.
Booker and Best regularly fail to achieve good performance standards.
