  • @adfischer I think he means show me how you made it! :)

  • at first i thought that was a real wiimote lol

  • Awesome, we also made a wii remote PWD car too! I thought we were the first!

  • Post some pictures please. Love to see it.

  • I got to ask how you added the light.

  • The light is just a simple blue LED from Radio Shack powered by some button cells. If you do something similar be sure to add a resister to your circuit. There are plenty of websites that explain how to build a simple LED circuit so hit Google up.

I also kept the LED circuit separate from the audio circuit. Both use button cells to keep the weight down.

  • is it bored inside the car?

  • Yes. I cut the block of wood about 1/4" to form a top then used a router to hollow out the inside. Made holes in the top for the buttons, speaker, switch, and LED. Wired it all up and glued the lid on. I wish I had made photos of the steps but didnt think about it at the time. If I had to do it again I would make it so the top could come off. I was in a hurry so I glued it. By the end of the race day a short developed in my car and the sound no longer worked and I could not fix it onsite.

  • It was definitely the most popular car with the kids. It was hard to keep them from wanting to hold it. I think it was even dropped once. It ended up being pretty slow. I was very worried about weight but ended up at only 4.5oz. I didnt bother adding any weight because I cared more about show than speed.

  • One more thing - the sound is done from a Radio Shack sound recorder. If you cant find one there look for them in greeting cards (the one you can record your own message). You will have to do a little soldering for the switch and speaker. Make sure the device is large enough to drive the size speaker you use. Be sure to post the video when you get done.
