  • This still a jam. Man, this lyrics still the truth!

  • ft. gordon ga. boy had the time of my life down there... going back and forth to atl....the good old day's

  • I was jamming to this cassette tape back in 1980 when I was 16 yrs old in my '76 Camaro cruising up and down the highway on Friday nights. Which was kind of unique down here in the south where Hank Williams Jr. and Charlie Daniels was popular back then.

The car stereo system was Blaupunkt cassette player, Blaupunkt 60w/ch power booster.equalizer, Kricket speakers. A baddass system.

  • The thing is, first and foremost I love The Dude album. I have it on vinyl and 8 track. Secondly, Patti is one of my vocal shero's. If this single was dropped TODAY it would be a hit. It's over 30 years old and hasn't been dated yet.

  • My Piano / Singing teacher when I was four had a sax playin' husband and a sax playin' son, Thank God. Their influences have been with me ever since. Both Quincy Jones & Patti Austin have been Artists that I will forever admire. I keep listening because I am forever Amazed by the sounds they make that captivate me and take me to a place I cannot find here on Earth. 'If I Ever Lose This Heaven' . Thank You to such Brilliance .

just close your eyes and remember...

  • 'Off The Wall' Wasn't MJ's debut, obviously. Not even his solo debut. It WAS his solo debut on Epic Records/Sony, where The Jacksons has already had a home for awhile though. : ) Patti is amazingly creative, always. I love the funky yet CHILL aspect of this song. My dad had 'The Dude' album when I first met him as adult (I was 18)! QJones connects generations! : )

  • @Tonedef67 And he produced another little Michael Jackson album called "Triller"

  • Gabrisan, Stevie Wonder DID write this song with Stephanie Andrews. Read the album credits. It's got his stamp all over it even down to the CS80 licks he plays on the track.

  • I LOVE this song! Brings back a lot of great memories. This is when music, was music!

  • Many people think some songs in QJ´s albums are sung by Michael Jackson...they are really sung by Patty Austin.

  • @supermasterPIK I just found out MJ did background vocals on "The Dude" Love that cut!

  • I gotta purchase this one!

  • Where ever you are Patti,WE still love you. And you to QUINCY!!!

  • Quincy Jones not Stevie wonder Wrote this song.

  • Old School greatness.........

  • Nice!!

  • Mary J. Blige remade this and did a AWESOME job!

  • one of the most wonderfully written, sung, and played songs in the history of MUSIC! i am still looking for a song called TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT YOU by quincy and i think it was on q. featuring the brothers johnson.cant find it anywhere. thank you skywatcher mucho for posting this song!

  • Such a beautiful bass line!!!

  • @hidemichi33 Louis Johnson

  • @Blueskywatcher Ahh good point. I now see you mean the spelling and not the individual. LOL.

  • love Patti...and the dude is ma all time fave..cz it get a little better with a little bit of razzamatazz....@CondorCA50...damn straight myfriend..that is my era that i so love..it so is the Golden era..who could forget when Prince came out with "I wanna be your lover" back in the 70's its so damn timeless just like so many songs of that time...Right on brother!!!

  • Here's a truly over looked talent. The women's NO JOKE!!!

  • 5 *****

  • "The female Micheal Jackson".... I can see that. One of my favorite songs,"It's the falling in love". Great duet with Patti and Micheal.........

  • I agree..i used to confuse her with michael all the time..especially on the razzamatazz song with quincy jones

  • Stevie also played the synth part on the song

  • Stevie wrote the song. But I suppose you know this.

  • @nidiaaw yeah I can hear Stevie Wonder's influence all throughout this.

  • the way she's singing, you really can tell he wrote it, too.

  • From the mid 70's to the mid 80's was a golden era of music. Quincy, Marvin Gaye and Parliment brought this funky layered sound. Quincy brought a very sophistucated sound that took MJ to the next level. MJ never would have become the King of Pop without Quincy. BTW: Prince broke out with his genius during this time.

    Those were great years.

  • I agree with you 100% but we must give props to Rod Temperton he was the salt to the sauce when it came to heat wave... mjs off the wall album.. the thriller & many other artist from the late 70's to eary 80's that man deserves a medal for his vison with old school artist & music.

  • still sounds so fresh. cant stop me toes a tappin!

  • This is a sexy song ..Patti is at her best here ..Can't get enough of her ...Please somebody post her singing, " In the Heat of Heat " ...HOT HOT HOT...xoxoo

  • If you can't find Heat of Heat it's because of YouTube restriction. Keep looking.

  • @PeaceFan1 Q is Patti's GODFATHER

  • yes the loft nyc this song sounds great on his system

  • HOT TO DEF"!!! I'm sorry....but '79-'80 was a red hot time for R&B..........so many hit albums (think Diana Ross "the boss", for one)...that have become classics......and full of funk as ever. At this time as well, Mr. Jones..... was a firebrand of production !!!

  • This on fire. That baseline is killing. Love it.

  • This song has a bit of a resemblence to "Try Jah Love" by Third World, also a Stevie Wonder track.

Excellent track, Patti is the female Michael Jackson... some of the best phrasing and delivery of a song, an excellent combination for both lead and background vocals.

  • patti sounds a lil like michael jackson here but during these days Quincy was also working with michael too.

  • If I recall correctly, Stevie wonder wrote this tune for the album.

  • I'm with you on that one klassworksmusic

Its a fine toon Quincy at his best

  • j'adore !!!!!

  • This is the cut!!!

  • Ahh the memories ... this is so cool.

I'd play this one whenever I was upset and just dance the anger and hurt away.

  • Yeah, notice that how all these great songs can do that. I'm always playin' the hottest ol'school so i'm always in a great mood. :-)

  • Ahhh, The Zanzibar!I wished I could've been there, but I was like 10-13 when it was poppin'! LOL

  • If possible can you post THE HEAT OF HEAT? That's the jam!

  • Is it just me or do you spend more time listening to music on YouTube than the radio?

    Indescribably good!

  • Thats true I spend moe time listening to music on youtube than the radio.

  • Great!
