its a huge shame that the argument over sovereignty seems to force the people of gibraltar to sway one way or other... with such rich and unique history, in my eyes gib is neither spanish nor british, but what we would call a 'country' of its own.
personally (and in an ideal world) i would like to see gibraltar grant itself independence. the individuality and liberal community should be celebrated, not disputed!!
Years ago we spent 2 weeks in Algeciras, used to cost the equivalent of £1 to catch the bus to Gibralter. Loved the place, especially passport control, we only had to show the colour of our passport and we were let straight through no messing. Loved crossing the airport runway. Yes I have some very happy memories of that holiday.
@sonico73 There have been two referendums in Gibraltar and both times the people have voted against being part of Spain. So, you should rephrase that statement to, "taken by force, but now British by choice". I take it your of Spanish descent, so what about Melilla and Ceuta, which is land Spain occupies in Morocco? Naturally you will say, they are part of Spain now, but of course the Spanish are white and the Moroccans are not so there is a difference in your eyes...
