I think the original japanese name was written as poki or something like that, which really gives you no real indication that the name could also be implied as "Porky". so Pokey is actually more of a mistranslation than anything else.
Pokey is so fat that in the final boss of earthbound he's in a machine so he doesnt need to stand up and the same in this video. 6 words to Pokey, GO ON A DIET YOU FAT-ASS!!!!!

couldn't have been very different. you had flint, claus, lucas, the pig army, and that pig army theme song in the trailer for it.
I'd have loved to have seen the entire game made, and by the time the GBA Mother 3 came out we would have had Mother 4 maybe.
