  • I can't decide between a iron 883, nightster, vulcan 900 custom. Any recommendations. This is a beutiful bike though. Only black engine I've ever seen in a bike.

  • @sonofthepatriot83

Hey!.. I recommend the Nightster.. the 1200cc is noticeably more powerful than 883cc or Vulcan 900... besides.. the parts aftermarket for Sportsters is huge .. although the Nightster does not come with a black engine you can always paint it.. many many guys have done it with great results.. another option is to buy a cheap used Iron and convert it to 1200cc.. you will get all the blackness + powerful engine and probably cheaper than a new Nightster

  • Dude. I came.

  • OMG thats enough porn for one day! :D

  • alright thanks man! really bad ass bike, gave me some good ideas. You should post a video of you revin it a little.

  • What about the velocity stack? what kind is yours?

  • @GHooper95 that one I bought on Ebay. it came with a breather kit for about $200 .. make sure it is for the correct year, and it the kit is for carburetor or EFI based bikes.

  • BADASSSSSSSSSSS

  • is that a custom pipe or something you bought?

  • @GHooper95

The pipes are made by sikpipes . c o m this model is the "Edge"

  • im in love!

  • fantastic

  • this is one bad ass bike.period.

  • @scdriftking

    Thanks!!!!!

  • just needs a chain drive

  • i hope idiots dont begin confusing the iron with an Iron Head...fuck

  • where did you get the cam cover?

  • @666madmal

hey... that is the stock cam cover, I removed it and trimmed the excess metal to attain that look... do a search online for: joebotics cam cover trimming ... and you will find my tutorial

  • harley i old tech ,betr to geta ducati monster

  • that bike is off its head! its a fucken beast and i want one !

  • Nice Sound

  • What kinda seat is that my brother? Did those springs come with it or did you have to adjust them the way they are? Beautiful bike.

  • @funknando007

hey!... the seat is the "slimline solo seat" from licks cycles... it comes with the spring and mounting hardware

  • i see that you dont have a rear fender ... did you face any dirt problems with that?

  • @q8superlow

no problems at all.. although you'll get soaking wet in the rain.. :-)

  • @joebotics pretty sure you'd get soaking wet if it was raining anyhow lol

  • Thanks', I'll check them out. I'm thinking of getting some Sikpipes, but wanted to get some input first, they do sound vicious!

  • @justentime77

great pipes... quality made and cheaper than similar pipes from other vendors ... but the guy who makes them takes forever to finish them.

  • hey man i still work in a iron to and i need ask you something how did you create this space between the gas tank and the engine

  • @magnucarlos

it requires the removal of the plastic harness.... then tuck the cables under the tank.. it requires to lift the tank... please go to........ h d f o r u m s . c o m the sportster discussion forum and search for tank lift / wire tuck

  • Did you lose any horsepower with these pipes?

  • @justentime77

Hey... yes... you lose power.. specially at low RPM... a way to mitigate this issue is to use "lollipops" ... if you are not familiar with them just search for "exhaust lollipops" online

  • @joebotics great bike, is there any chance you could give a full list of modifcations as im looking at doing a similar project for my first harley. I cant find what i need to do anywhere and i would like an end product similar to yours

  • @karl740

Hey... it is a long list: inverted stock handlebars and headlight, Velocity Stack air cleaner, I removed the fenders and chopped the rear fender mount struts, removed belt and sprocket cover, installed Dynojet PC-V, relocated rear signals, chopped and relocated license tag mount, trimmed cam cover, chopped and relocated speedo.. all cables rerouted under tank

  • This bike is just perfect ! Love the colors, pipes, seat, everything !

  • thanks man

  • What engine selection did you use when you bought these pipes? I have the 2012 iron and I know they are made with harley's evolution engines, but dont know if he is talking about another brand.

  • @plunkettluv

Hey... the correct selection is "86 and up Sportsters" ... and nope... when he refers to "Evo" the refers to the Harley Davidson Evolution engines.. those "84 - 99 Evos" are the older Big Twins..

  • @joebotics the sportster motors are also Evolution motors.

  • They ought to call them asshole pipes. so THAT was the bike that was making so much noise on my street last week....just so he could "look cool". Not cool.

  • It amazing that piece of shit even runs! Why don't you bring it back to the junkyard? Its not worth investing any money into that motorcycle. It would take at least a thousand dollars to get it straightened out so it idles smoothly. It also needs a complete exhause system, since some idiot cut it off with a hack-saw. You may be able to find another one, but hardly davisin typically use low quality pot metal, so they are hard to find. At least its running on one cylinder. I would junk it.

  • I rode it with solid struts in the rear to get a sense of what it's like to ride hardtail .. after 15k miles I had enough.. back to shocks... :-)

  • What tuning software are you using? I'll be running the same pipe on my 48 with a AC and am confused as to what to get, seems to be a lot of options & controversy out there.

  • @crazyquady

you can get the AF-XIED module from nightrider . com it is a lot cheaper than an ECM piggyback control module like the Dynojet PCV (it comes with software to control the AFR tables) you also have to option to add the AutoTune modules to the Dynojet PCV, it replaces the stock O2 sensors with wideband O2 sensors .. the AF-XIED allows you to control the AFR ratios from 14.6 all the way down to 13.6 .... no software required.

  • @joebotics Yah I did some reading on the Xied stuff last night, I had never heard of that before. I know of the PCV and VH fuel pack, any others out there? Im not overly concerned with making any more power over stock, I just wnat the sound & look of different pipes & AC. What are you using?

  • @crazyquady the XIED modules are becoming quite popular due to their low cost .. the typical comments you see online are that it improves throttle response and the engine runs much cooler.. I had the Dynojet PCV with the autotune modules.. I removed it because I thought I had an issue with it (it was the spark plugs)... but now I am thinking about giving the AF-XIED a try... quite simple to install and less bulk... it is pretty hard to find a space to locate the additional components

  • So... Where is the suspension?

  • @54pepe46

I rode it with solid struts in the rear to get a sense of what it's like to ride hardtail .. after 15k miles I had enough.. back to shocks... :-)

  • Great job buddy looks treats

  • this baby is sick .........love it great job

  • where did u get the seat from....

  • @TheLongboardlife

Hey... it is a licks cycle Spring Solo Seat

  • @joebotics do u have the part numberfor the seat ?because i dont see it on the web site and i wan t the same ..thanks..

  • @TheLongboardlife

Hey!... sorry... but that seat was really made by West Eagle cycles for licks cycles.. but West Eagle stopped production of motorcycle seats.. the closest to mine is the "Slim Lizzy Solo" spring seat..

  • How far is your knee from the air cleaner?

  • @grbrum

I am 5'6'' it seat pretty close.. but I never hit it while riding.. you will definitely kit it if you are tall and ride with mid controls..

  • One beautiful bike.

  • You have no idea how much i love this bike especially this one in particular

  • you're so lucky you can make this modifations in your country. here the police would stop me at first they see me.

  • Love these bikes. Im 6,2 205 pounds. You think I will fit on this bike alright? cheers!

  • @panag3 hey... it is not uncommon to see guys your height riding sportsters... although usually with forward controls and a different seat that pushes you back a couple inches... I recommend you go to a Harley dealer and look at the Dyna models also... similar in shape to a Sportster but with a larger frame, engine....

  • @panag3 I'm 6'1" and I sat on this bike, fits perfectly as far as seating and reach goes, but to each their own. Best to go and sit on one to feel the difference.

  • @panag3 .. im 6 and im too much for it, ive been on it man you will not fit on THIS BIKE! hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • NICE!

  • fottutamente bella! great job buddy!

  • One of the best looking Custom Irons I have seen.

  • Aggressive looks, very nice bike!

  • what if you seat in the tire during some accident?

  • @ninjaassasin4

during an accident you are most probably going to fly forward... no worries about it... I have more than 20k miles with this setup and I have yet to seat on the rear tire by accident..

  • What seat is that? got a 12 iron, and i am trying to decide on what springer seat to get

  • @jlasorsa11

Hey... sorry for the late reply.... my seat is a Lick cycles slimline solo spring seat... great seat!!!.. not much padding.. but great looks...

  • Did you jump it up on top of a roof?

  • @SquirrelMasterOne

LOL!... I wish... that is the top of the parking lot where I work..

  • get the shifter cables for the dragbars on the bike...all that extra flab hurts the clean look

  • Hey man was there any fab work to get the Lick's seat and mounting brackets to fit the 2011 Iron 883?

  • @colinportt448

I don't think so... the mounting bracket bolts into the stock bracket / bolt used for the stock seat.. a 20 minute job tops.

  • Comment removed

  • i have a 2009 nightster 1200 ,and i cant find a velocity stack,where u get yours?

  • @zero370922

I got mine on Ebay... make sure it comes with the breather kit.. and that the Velocity stack fits your application... ( either Carbureted of EFI)

  • im getting a 2011 iron 883 very soon how much coin do you think you dropped on the mods im just curious because I deffinitly want to modify the look too. Btw this is THE baddest 883 ive seen and ive been surfing for days on these lol.

  • @bluecapone hey!... congrats on getting a 2011 Iron... they are a lot of fun!!.. when it comes to the mods it was cheap since I did everything pretty much myself... the pipes are from sikpipes . c o m around $300 the velocity stack about $200 ... handlebars and headlights are the stock (I inverted both) the seat is from licks cycles around $300

  • @joebotics

Fuck ya I'm stoked haha. Thanks for the response and again that bike is the baddest around!

  • @bluecapone

Thanks for the encouraging comments!.. more mods to come!... if you want to know more about the mods in detail I hang out at the h d f o r u m s . c o m discussion forums, the sportster section, I have a bunch of tutorials posted... just create an account and search post for my profile name... same as here

  • @joebotics

Right on man I really appreciate it! I'll look you up soon.

  • All I can say is NICE!!! This is definitely great inspiration for me since I am planning out my first bobber (first bike actually) and what you have done is about 95% exactly what I want for my bike.

  • badass pretty much sums it up

  • Are those the stock handle bars?

  • @chrisf243

Hey... yes.. those are the stock hanlebars.. I just inverted them and did some rewiring of the control cables.

  • Are those the stock handle bars?

  • Do you get wet when raining right??

  • @FanCyMonDaY real wet!!... specially my butt!!.. hahaaa... the front tire shoots a lot of water upwards like a mini hose.. it is fun to watch at night while riding in heavy rain..

  • @joebotics hahahaha. Be carefull man!! Other question. Where is the speed indicator located?? Is a digital one?? Man thats an amazing bike!! Congrats!!

  • Nice bike, very good taste!

  • @silverguitar4 thanks!!... I never thought of my bike been so popular specially on the street.. a lot of people get curious and want to seat and get a feeling of such a rough ride.. it a lot of fun... :-)

  • dude this is the best Iron I have ever seen! i can't wait to mod my like this. hope you dont mind but damn it's so tough looking. please post another video.

  • @nocip77 please go ahead!!.. and post videos when you are done.. happy riding!

  • Fantastic looking bike

  • hey man great bike! looking to do some stuff of my own and was wondering how u made the fender like that?

  • @leventi009 hey.. I basically chopped off the entire rear of the bike.. not much left but a bit of the support struts for the rear turning lights...

  • yeah man shoot a vid with the changes you've made (fat front tire) I'd love to see it.

    Sweet bike man, really.

  • Oh, yeah, your bike looks sick bro.

  • Dude, If Harley sold the bike like this, think of how much more money they could charge for less of a product.

  • @chade1983 hey !... thanks for the encouraging comments... yeah... I have put a lot of effort on my bike... it looks different now.. it has a wide front (wide glide) with fatter front tire... and foot clutch / jockey shifter ... i will post a video when I get a chance... thanks!

  • love it man. Bad ass.

  • AWSOME ! Thumbs up + favorites !

  • Another video showing me the Hell on Earth pllllllllllllease

  • oye,que moto mas pocamadre, que chingon,el que decidio que accesorios meterle,ya estoy ahorrando para comprarme una iron, una chulada de moto.

  • Sweeeeeet! thats all i need to say.. what IS that A/C you have on there?

  • @mission100uk

hey... thanks!... the A/C is a Velocity Stack that I bought from a guy on Ebay... there are many posted on Ebay.. you need to make sure it is the right model for your bike since the carburator and EFI brackets are different ... also make sure the Velocity stack comes with a breather kit..

  • That light is sick!

What size is it? Where did you get the bracket? How hard is it to relocate it to on top?

  • @jarodbrown77

Hi... the headlight is the stock one... I just inverted it and made a bracket for it using very thick flat steel rod from the hardware store.. cheap mod and it looks good.. :-)

  • Humm...ok. is just cause i heard different :s

    But thanks anyway joebotics ;)

    Ride Safe...

  • Hi, very nice IRON u got there,

What about the Air intake during rain weather?

    Is it alright?

  • @barbercosta hey.... the Air intake is fine during rainy rides... I have been through some heavy rain with no issues whatsoever...

  • That is one cool bike you got there, very nice, well done!!

  • i just falled inlove with ur bike!!

  • this is called a harley iron?

  • whats it like not having a back fender? im lookin to do this to mine but not sure about mud and stuff flyin into my back. beautiful bike by the way

  • @drumsalltime

hey!.. thanks!... I guess you notice stuff being thrown at you in the beginning.. but I don't care anymore.. you will get soaked in the rain ... but it is fun... and the bike looks really badass... :-)

  • That's a fine looking bobber!! I saw ur article on one of the hd forums for the headlight relocation which I think Im gonna do on my iron. What dimensions are your handlebars? It's hard to tell with the black on black contrast lol... but I have a feeling they're less than 32"?

  • @Wassenburger

hey!!... thanks!... my handlebars are the stock ones... I just inverted them... not really an easy task since the dimples for routing the cables ended up being on the other side.... I had to disassemble all the control cables and rerouting them... I didn't like the looks too much... so I decided to route the cables internally... even more work!!!... but it looks a lot cleaner now...

  • Hi, what's the type/brand of that open air-intake you run, looks really awesome! Does it have a filter, and does it change the performance of you're iron? I know I ask a lot of questions, but I just bought my iron (still stock) and I'm looking to personalize it! Yours looks totally badass! A really unique ride!

    Ride safe!

  • @CaymanSW

Hey Cayman... my Air intake is a Velocity Stack I bought from ebay for about $200... the Iron seems to be very happy with it.. it comes with a filter.. very easy to install... just do a search on ebay for velocity stacks

  • did you turn up side down the hand controler?

  • @ONLYreggaebass

yes... my handlebars are the stock ones... I just inverted them... not really an easy task since the dimples for routing the cables ended up being on the other side.... I had to disassemble all the control cables and reroute them... I didn't like the looks too much... so I decided to route the cables internally... even more work!!!... but it looks a lot cleaner now...

  • That poor poor Iron... omg What a mess...

  • What headlight is that? Is it the same one just raised up?

    Love the tank also!

  • Gorgeous 883 Iron mate!

It looks sweet. Great job with the customizing. I almost didn't recognise the bike!

  • Hey man, you gotta post a video on how you removed the rear fender and kept it so clean looking. I'm dying to get rid of mine, just bought my Iron and I'm in Tampa if you need a bike to do it on for free :-P If you could post something on here or HDF that'd be awesome. Thanks!!

  • honestly, how bad do they stick out? Im switching back to mid controls and thats my only concern. I love these pipes but how often do you hit them with your leg accidentally?

  • @gotboost2jz

Hey... they don't stick out much at all... but these pipes have no insulation shield.. so they get super hot... I wear tall boots at all times... I got used to them so I rarely touch the pipes with my leg.. the real concern is how hot they get ... so much that is generates hot vapors that gets your left side of the bike real hot...

  • @joebotics

hotter than normal pipes? haha thats intense. Is it so bad that heat wrap couldnt fix it? I wouldnt mind wrapping em. Thanks for the input btw

  • @gotboost2jz

yeap... much hotter than normal pipes... I am not kidding you... I guess it is just a matter of being aware of the pipes and getting used to it.. if you look at the video.. notice that the rear cylinder blows the exhaust at the exact location where your leg rests if you are using middle controls...

  • @joebotics

ah yeah i see that. def gonna need heat wrap then for these bad boys. also, is it at all possible to fit baffles in there with that curved tip or is the angle to extreme?

  • @gotboost2jz

Baffles would be mission impossible .. what I did was to install a "lollipop" kind of thing to regain some backpressure.. not really a scientific method.. but it worked well with these pipes.. unfortunately I cannot add a link to the picture of the lollipop thing I installed on my pipes...

  • @joebotics

I think the heat problem lies in your tune, it sounds like your running to rich and maybe the dynojet retarded your timing to much. I would run some datalogging to see what your A/F mixture is looking like.

  • @chiman72

Hey... yeah... an inadequate fuel/air mixture ratio definitely causes the pipes to be too hot... I have been dealing with it, tweaking parameters on my Dynotjet PC-V ... I've got to lower the temperature, but it still hot, I guess that the fact that my bike is low and the pipes high and close to your leg, plus not having any metal shield contributes to the whole "damn hot" pipes... besides, I live in hot and humid South Florida, US and riding is strenuous for riders and bikes

  • this bike would look soooooo much more bad ass with a fat ass front tire.

  • that bike is so badass man but just the headlight comes in and bam it kinda kills it lol

  • @navelolol The headlight is his best mod. Total old school.

  • Saludos dese Spain. Ando buscando un faro delantero como ese. Es el que lleva de serie? Que anclaje lleva? Espero tu respuesta compradre!

  • How does it sound when given a little throttle?

  • @chiman72

these pipes are really loud when you rev up the engine... it has a pretty badass sound... 1 second ago

  • @joebotics

What did you use to tune the bike? also what did you use to relocate the speedo and headlight. I have a 48 and bought the same exhaust but don't know what to use for tuning.

  • @chiman72

Hey Chiman... I use a Dynojet PC-V with Auto Tune modules.. for headlight relocation I made a bracket then bolt it on where the original headlight mount was...
