Even this early Riddick loved Jack enough to go against his instincts and double back and save her. If you seen the second movie, Riddick plans/lets himself be captured and manipulated the mercs into taking him to the slam where Jack was. Carolyn may have given him back his humanity, but Jack/Kyra took his heart.

@LadyNightthorn So Riddick went to New Mecca and allowed himself to be captured so he could be "chaffered" instead of driving himself? He didn't know Jack was in prison. He was told Jack went looking for him. That is all that he knew. He didn't know the Mercs would catch him on New Mecca, in a ship whose range meant that the only prison they could get to is the one jack just happened to be in. There is no tension when we believe the character to always be in control of EVERY situation.

@tdylan No, he knew where Jack was, Imam told him when they first met in the beginning of the movie, and he repeated it when he was thinking to himself, locked up in the back of Tombs' ship. We could hear his thoughts about how he could have "ghosted" the entire merc crew right then if he wanted, but they were taking him where he wanted to go anyways. And he knew exactly who took out the ship that was chasing him back on New Mecca, so he knew about the locator beacon in the ship.

If you take note at how many babies are present in the movie, one could assume they propagate fast enough to consume themselves as a food source. In the second movie he puts out some candles saying "the light hurts my eyes." @ the end of the movie he's fighting in a well lit area, no goggles, no problem. Inconsistent much? A ray from a flashlight hits his eyes in this and he screams in pain. They remove his goggles in daylight, blinding him, and beat the crap out of him. He couldn't fight because he couldn't see. Chronicles is shitty.
