the thing that is unhealthy about instant noodles is the noodles themselves and the spice packet that it comes with (and in some cases, if you are eating the cup noodles, the adhesive for the lid mixes with the soup base causing trouble). The noodles are pure carbs which are cooked in saturated/trans fats to keep shelf life and the spice packet in most cases contains greater than or equal to a full recommended daily dose of sodium....but still, i eat my ramen knowing because its so freakin good!
Come on! You skipped a major step. Drain the water after cooking for a few minutes, then replace with fresh water and add everything else. That gets rid of some fat and starch.
That actually looks really good! I'm not in college anymore, but don't make a lot of money, so I still eat ramen now and then. I'm not sure if I would like the boiled spinich (although I love raw spinich), but I would totally try it. :)
I've been looking around a bit for ramen recipes, but they're all so complicated. And I wouldn't even know where to get half the ingredients... So thanks for this simple, cheap alternative!
When I was living in Japan my roommate who was Japanese cut all the green onions up and put them in the freezer in a plastic bag so they were ready for soup and since they are so thin the soup thaws them out really fast! They don't lose too much flavor so yeah just a tip if your green onions always go bad before you use them! :)
I like adding porkballs and or fishballs........ while boiling the egg just throw in the balls :) they take about the same amount of time to cook.. adds more yumminess for carnivores like myself
found your channel while looking for more japan stuff. +1 for Texas People learning Japanese. (Longhorn pride) Very nice ramen video, I sometimes crack the egg in while boiling the noodles. I once tried to cut up deli meat in the ramen, the deli meat is a bit too thin, and kind of ruined the taste. Also congrats on landing the ALT job and graduating (in august)
Also, this is TOTALLY random... but did you get those chopsticks at that 99円 Lawson by 外大?? Because I totally got some like that from there and when I saw yours it made me wonder lol :P
I don't cook ramen like that :O I just put the noodles in when the water is boiling, then crack in the egg and put in the spinach. Then I just put everything in the bowl when they're all done :D
OMG!! Since I came to the states, I haven't found a instant ramen soup that taste good so I am definitely goiong to try this one!! Thanks for the recipe and keep doing vids :D

its called hard soft boiling... its hte best way to hard boil the egg so the yolk comes away from whites easier.. good for making deviled eggs easier..
Haha, I love food too. I got to know two girls I'd never met before for three days, and on the second day, one said, "You don't talk much, but you eat a lot". :3
Ramen is already so unhealthy, this video is the equivalent of putting a multivitamin on top of an entire cheesecake you plan on eating...haha But I like the effort, looks tasty anyways!
@SkiFantic Ramen isn't fatty, but yeah it's pretty salty. I'm not suggesting you live off of this stuff but it's infinitely better than straight ramen. College students are notorious for not eating veggies.
I use a cabbage and onion. It soup to mellowed. A gleen onion and spinach are very good for a student, Because It including folic acid and calcium which is good for a head. While when I cook I drink well beer or some liquor, too :)
@gdrewpowers I don't know if you eat meat or not, but if you put a put slice of pork (really thin) on top it's also really tasty. That's how they usually have it in Japan, but because I'm a stingy Texan I decided not to buy meat.

It started out looking healthy until you add in the MSG filled spice pack. Use real spices instead of that crap! Otherwise decent recipe.
