  • @Shiftyvw I did the same exact thing to my 2010 2.0T coupe... I couldn't believe the difference in performance and the sound.... And how incredibly easy and cheap it is. I just grabbed a cone air filter and adapted it to the existing intake hose! The blow off goes from a 1.5 to a 10 instantly

  • any gains at all? sounds nice might do this when i get my Gen. Also, sorry if its a dumb questions but why do you need the PVC's ?

  • does deleting the silencer and replacing airbox filter with a cone filter void factory warranty?

  • Very nice and informative video... thanks a lot!

  • just out of curiosity, any idea if it sounds that "annoying" if you leave the silencer in and put an open cone on it?

  • Which cone filter did you use? Where did you pick it up and for how much?

  • I used a Spectre filter from Auto Zone. It has adapter collars that will fit onto that adapter pipe on the intake tube. The filter cost about $20.

  • Holy crap sounds like darth vader lol but great vid I hope to one day own a 2.0t and do this exact mod

  • ya i did this as well.. it made a big difference where i hear the most difference was the cone fiter... did the cone filter about 10 min after picking up my car :-P

  • You said no BOV noise this is because all, well most, NEW cars with turbos CBV or bypass valve which is better because you do not lose hot air. I was shocked when I learned this because when I test drove the car I was freaking out not hearing the BOV. :D

Nice car, I am trying to decide on between this car, VW GTI mk6, 2010 Mitsu Ralliart,Subaru WRX, or a Mazdaspeed3 Hard choices but all GREAT cars. I am really surprised at how much I find the Gen Coupe enjoyable. Good video!

  • hello shifty im planning on doing the cone filter and was wondering if it is optimal to put the PBC pipe where the silencer was.. if not will it have any side effects..Great Video by the way very informal!!!

  • Thanks! The PVC pipe is probably better to use than the metal pipe but it will be a tad more restricitve since the walls are thicker. You're talking about a tiny amount though, and as I said in the vid, the PVC won't rust or anything.

  • wow.. what a cool vid...

    yet very educational 2...

thx for the awesome vid ^^

  • it looks like it's a fun car.

  • hey man you still got the bug?

  • No I sold the bug to fuel my lust for a RWD car with the Genesis. haha

  • Outstanding shifty. Thanks for the video!

  • Thanks, I enjoyed making it, I'm glad you liked it! =)
