nice! I used to drive up through Rochelle on my way up to Timberlake Campground near Mt. Carrol. So, you just captured this footage directly from the camera's firewire and into Studio 12? Any issues?
@zilchmcwee (Continued from the other comment on the San Diego footage) No real issues other than when rendering. Studio has a consistent problem with a simple "dissolve". It will whig out and green screen. I'm in the process of changing over to use Sony Vegas 11 HD Pro. I like the transitions better, but I haven't quite figured out their titling software yet. That just needs a bit of time.
@louisekaille - If you mean running "wrong main", I really have no idea. Perhaps some of the more knowledgeable folk might chime in on this issue. Anyone????
@louisekaille This division generally doesn't have what's known as "current of traffic." Generally, most westbounds use the south track and east bounds use the north track. But for about 1 out of every 5-8 trains one will use the opposite track. The reason why they can do this is because both main lines are signaled in both directions...
@ilovefood861 Yeah, that's occurred to me as well. Why do you you suppose that is???? Possibly a good percentage of the UP stuff is going in or coming out of Global???
@RochelleXing - Not sure what noise that is, but that also happens to be the point at which my tripod gave way on me. The edits on this "compilation" are not in the same order as I shot them, so it's not immediately apparent, but on that day, I spent the rest of it handheld, which adds certain "complexities".
@RailfanningRulez - Yeah, it was interesting to see that. Clean, decent looking engine, and nice to catch a side-by-side, as well. Thanks for watching!!!
@2migell It is absolutely a wonderful camera to use. Though if you look at some of the more recent videos I have, you'll see that I also use it's big brother the DSR-300. The 200 used in THIS video will allow more automatic point/shoot, if desired, and is far less "high maintenance". It's big enough to be a good stable shoulder mount camera, but small enough to get away with taking on a family vacation (see San Diego Zoo footage). Although I have the 300, I'll always keep my 200!! Thanks!
@bear434 - 1995's a great-looking engine. I wonder if that's fairly new, or if they just work a little overtime keeping that one clean??? Thanks for watching!!!
@CSXandSpartanfan33 - Well, apparently none the day I was there. I don't get the opportunity to get away from the house to go railfanning as often as I like. They (CSX) probably know that, and conspire to appear only when I'm not around!!!

did you color correct any or is this raw?
hornetsfanjc 1 year ago
@hornetsfanjc - No, that's raw, other than to put the clips together with a dissolve, it's right out of the camera.
