Little correction. Corolla is a different model, yes. But the Corona(Japan) and Carina II(Europe) are the same car with only a couple of optional differences. The Carina that was sold in Japan was another model that was replaced in Europe by the Carina II/ Corona

Interesting, but I agree the bloke in the Peugeot isn't pushing it as you can tell from the sound of his acceleration - it sounds like he keeps backing off. It would be nice to see this contest re-filmed with both drivers pushing their cars to the limit.
Quite simply the peugeot in this drag race isnt pushed hard enough, the guy isnt maxing it out! I would choose the Peugeot because it handles at the high speeds much better than the toyota (just listen to the cabin noise as well)
There something wrong Peugeot can loosee vs carina coz even the year difference between cars is 8 years so peugeot must win!I red what someone said what peugeot has disel engine but HDI engine is even better than simple petrol engine in this case it's possible peugeot to loosse bet i think petrol turbo peugeot would win by all catigories!!!

Peugeot was full throttle. From 0-120kmh is peugeot slower than Carina, from 120kmh above is faster. ;)

Nice video. Though the result isn't so surprising as the 406 weighs a lot more, and it's a diesel.
