All the norwegian Suburbans have the cheap nasty hairy and stainy fabric interior -.- this one looks sooooo damn nice compared to the old rusty ones that drives around here :D
Where do you Europeans that have never seen cars like this before come from??? I am too from Europe (Norway) and American cars like this is very common... Today I actually saw two new Escalades, and GMC and Chevy I see all the time. I would hate to live a place where there were no cars like these babys.
@MrTheFanMan111 Bugger the fog lights, you wouldny need them people'd see you a mile off even in heavy fog with this big shite? Hey Kyle you should try and find one of these withe the 8.1L V8, Haha, get bout 3 Mile to the gallon outa it.
@Sayakawill I have a 1999 GMC Yukon SLT with a special limited package from the factory that even to this day its more luxuriours than any escalades I have ever been in, and by no means is it crappy its never broken down or fallen apart.
@CapitainThunder No, my life is really great, but a lot of people who live in Lithuania don't have a job, so they have to emigrate to other countries..
i wish the carpet in my 99 suburban was as clean as this. other then that and the exhaust... and the whole interior design. my is pretty much the same. although its got 170,000+ miles on it. but these motors are bullet proof hasn't put a foot wrong or missed a beat.
seriously what is it with American cars and their door chimes?
Who on the face of the earth could put up with that shit everytime you open the door, we know the door is open, we can actually see there is a FRIGGIN gap between the door and the car, no need for the FRIGGIN useless chime for focks sake!
@casmatori you will hear the sound if a kid opens a door at 65mph, don't need a chime for that, thats what child safety locks are for, chime is ridiculous.
Man this thing would be so awesome for road trips. A lot of people in other countries don't really realize the distance in America. I live in Oregon and if I just wanna drive down to Southern California it's like a 10 hour drive lol. Taking 6 people down to so cal in this thing would be a breeze and it would be comfortable all the way. On the highway it might get around 20mpg, as two years ago I took a 94' GMC 2500 (350V8 TH700R4) down and it got 18mpg average.
I'm European, but i really jealous to you americans. :) you have very nice and big cities, you have very good american cars, gas is in low prices in usa, and it's a dream country for a lot of europeans. :) in the future i will visit your country.
@edviux6 Where in Europe are you from? I am an American and I want to go to Europe, actually thinking about moving there haha lets just trade places. We do have some great cars and some really cool things and places but so does Europe!! German, English and Itailian cars are the finest in the world. And Europe has a lot more history than the US does.
@edviux6 Don't get too jealous. America has its disadvantages, too. For example, street signs here are all text and no symbols, so you really need to know your English very darn well to drive safely here.
Note that this GMC Suburban gets about 15 mpg highway, which in European terms is 16 L/100km extra-urban. Yes, fuel is cheaper here, but not by too much. Fuel prices have been constantly rising for the past ten years. Current national average is $3.39/gal, or 0.678 Euros per Liter.
@Astonvanquishs Oh, I didn't realize gas is that expensive in Italy. Last time I was in Europe, it was about 1.10 €/L, but that was in Scandanavia. You just made me glad that I don't live in Europe. :) I just feel a little guilty that I live in a country that consumes more fossil fuels than the rest of the world combined.
While I am on the subject, I also absolutely hate that the United States still has not switched over to the metric system like the rest of the world.
@FlyGuy2480 Relax, everything is fine:). here in Italy, prices rose because the "government" has a habit of putting taxes but curiously forgets to take them off! For example, we still have the tax for the funding of the war in Ethiopia in 1935 and many more!
STAY IN EUROPE. not as good as people make it sound. I know you've heard tall the stories.."streets of gold," "money comes easy" etc. none of it is true. living in america is a VERY fast paced, routine life. school, work, school, work over and over. trust me. Europeans have better car. Europe>USA. at least in the car world.
@ibleedhuskerred3 But when europeans come back from USA they changed mind of america and they want go back to USA. :) I think u understand what i wanted to say.
the truth is that european made motors, are smaller and pack more power and torque than american made motors...oil hungry USA :))...even though, i would fuckin love that ESCALADE with the 6.2 engine :X
@Begbucks If he was advertising videos I would understand your comment, but he's just reviewing. Just so happens to be the price of the vehicle was on the window.
I used to have one of these things, my Dakota could run circles around it, but it had stump pulling torque, was more comfortable and could carry more stuff than my 2009 Tahoe hybrid, and had crazy range with such a huge fuel tank. They are like an M1 tank in the snow. In my opinion, it was one of the safest, comfortable and practical vehicles we have ever owned. we had the first year of the vortec so there was a few kinks to work out unfortunately, but great vehicle nonetheless.
People sure do love to dog on this older truck. I love it, sure it costs a fortune to fill it up, but in 1999 people werent so concerned with gas prices. Also the wood trim looks so crappy because it has so many hours of travel in it. It could look a lot worse
Sounds sweet still looks wheel and neat luxury inside but I would find it useless imagine in the bad weather say snow struggling with 2 wheel drive in huge monster jeep spinning about great otherwise if u don't ever really have bad weather my thoughts another great video
im sorry but i cant hear u over that ANNOYING high pitched EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE in my ears. *pulls out gun, shoots sound..* Ahh, Much better.
NICE TRUCK!!!!!! i would love that truck! screw the new ones... that body style rocks.... if I won the lottery I would customize that truck further and it would not be as attractive to thieves as well!
@FormalSocks But usually a Ferrari is only driven for recreation drive not Daily drive (this) so you don't have to fill it up so often.... but yea my logic was a bit Derp....
I would love to own a big SUV like this Suburban. I don't care about horsepower rating for big displacement engines. Those thinking that small turbocharged engines are better are just silly. This downsizing trend here in Europe and all this eco shit doesn't solve the fuel economy problem. Small engines (even turbo'ed) on heavy cars = high consumption & poor reliability.
It always sucks when I come to these videos and half the comments are Europeans criticizing gas mileage and horsepower ratings. Enjoy the vehicle for what it is. It's American. The SUV made in 1999. Just because in your country you drive small vehicles doesn't mean everyone else needs to. Chill.
Nice note: Suburbans are just MASSIVE, but pretty cool. And, nice video as always, Kyle! : )
Anyone complaining about the price of gas in their country should realize it's their country's fault for not having enough refineries. I know gas is cheap in Russia where they seem to have plenty. I recently considered buying a Cadillac with a 500CI engine. If you enjoy driving, drive whatever you want and pay what it costs. No one cares what you pay for gas.. you just wish it was affordable in your country to drive something like this truck.
@WildcatMarcher07 Well said. You find most videos on Youtube to do with cars are full off European people complaining about Americans. They're just jealous. xx
@WildcatMarcher07 I'm European and love American cars. America is an other world with low gas prices, huge distances, etc. I think the European who are criticising this world are a little bit jealous of the Americans as well.
This car looks very massive, If I were American and need SUV I would choose this GMC sure and certain. Now: it's only a dream;)
Just for some Americans have the idea of the gas prices in Europe:
Here in Portugal with the gas price at 1.66€/L (96 regular) and with that 159Liter (42 Gal) fuel tank it would cost 159*1.66 = 263.94€ (344 USD) to fill it up on regular
and with premium (98 octane) at about 1.80€/L it would be 286.2€ (374 USD) to fill it up
yea.... i think a Ferrari has about the same fuel economy, so i would take a used Ferrari instead of this gas guzzler that not that much power and weights a million tones
@ruigoncalves2 id rather drive a big truck like this.. i can run over slow drivers and where i live, it rains almost the whole year (fucking tropical region) and small cars can get hydrolocked cuz of the floods :) and ferrari its very expensive to maintain, so what u "save" un gas, will waste it, and even more... so ur argument is invalid
@ruigoncalves2 Hmm so that gives it a range of around 750 miles for $344. Not sure if that's worth it to be honest. Could probably buy 4 train tickets for that, and then you'd have a buffet/bar carriage too ;)
@ruigoncalves2 Our regular gas is 87 octane and the dollar is the standard used to buy oil, which is why our gas is so cheap in America. For something like this, 18 mpg is pretty good actually. And the people who buy this wouldn't want a Ferrari and vice versa. This is a utility vehicle that will last a family for 15 years if its taken care of. A Ferrari is a fun car that will probably be wrecked in 10 years at most.
A handsome, but terrible gas guzzler, which most people don't need, and in consequence well advised to avoid. Even for those few who may need it, should consider to swap the engine to diesel. Cummins 4BT has been tried, it fits and works much more economically than the stock powerplant.
There's that buzzer again. :O

@WildcatMarcher07 Well said. You find most videos on Youtube to do with cars are full off European people complaining about Americans. They're just jealous. xx

@WildcatMarcher07 I agree with you!

@WildcatMarcher07 Even though I'm not an suv or V8 person I have to agree its pretty annoying. "In europe this!" "In europe that" STFU!!!

My god that is one disgusting interior, poorly put together and just ugly, especially that wood with random patches weirdly laid out across the dash.

I know someone that had one of these back then. It was really nice for its day. I rather have this than a conversion van as a camping vehicle.

Just for some Americans have the idea of the gas prices in Europe:
Here in Portugal with the gas price at 1.66€/L (96 regular) and with that 159Liter (42 Gal) fuel tank it would cost 159*1.66 = 263.94€ (344 USD) to fill it up on regular
and with premium (98 octane) at about 1.80€/L it would be 286.2€ (374 USD) to fill it up
yea.... i think a Ferrari has about the same fuel economy, so i would take a used Ferrari instead of this gas guzzler that not that much power and weights a million tones
ruigoncalves2 1 month ago 40
@ruigoncalves2 Current gas prices in Denmark 8.30$ a gallon making a 42 gallon fill up a 349$ endeavor.

A Ferrari is a fun car that will probably be wrecked in 10 years at most.
desertfox2020 1 month ago
@desertfox2020 I would like to point out that our 96 octane is equivalent to your 87 :) the european one is just a different method of measurement ;)
Astonvanquishs 1 month ago
@Astonvanquishs Well I learned something new then, I always thought you just had higher octane fuel because of EU regulations or something.

@ruigoncalves2 I'm in Canada and it cost me $160 to fill up my truck. It sucks.

@ruigoncalves2 Invalid argument. Other than someone like you, who the fuck would cross-shop a family SUV with a fucking Ferrari?

Not a very economical vehicle but I still like all your videos.
soaffb1337 1 month ago
A handsome, but terrible gas guzzler, which most people don't need, and in consequence well advised to avoid. Even for those few who may need it, should consider to swap the engine to diesel. Cummins 4BT has been tried, it fits and works much more economically than the stock powerplant.
