@amitab123marwaha It sounds so much better having the sound pound your soul through large speakers with the band mere meters away from you. You feel as if you are one with the band. Mikales voice and the occasional back-up vocals are 110% what you would expect to hear.
@PsychopathicKnees dont tell me about that, im brazilian and, in an insane moment of me life, i decided to go to NYC instead. Missed Opeth, Steve Hackett and ELP. Oh dear. :P

i love this part of opeth. but i don't like the songs with him growling. i love his voice but I am not into that growling stuff. It's a pity cause I really like that band.
@Thilo9191 I partially agree with you. I'm definitely a much bigger fan of their clean lyrics than their growling lyrics, though I like their growling lyrics as well. It's all a matter of taste, I suppose.
@GeneralWarburg I find it's more a question of adaptation and compensation. To this day, I still hate growling, although I have grown a custom to opeth's growling because of the melody that surrounds it and completes it perfectly. Other bands do not have that "melody" and therefor sounds (to me) more like loud, annoying noises... but as I said: it's just a question of adaptation; eventually I will get used to it and be able to stand it.
This is one of the best songs by Opeth, but all their songs are brilliant masterpieces so it's really hard to choose the best one... Damn, why do they have to be so great?
Distinct lack of keyboard parts in the old songs. I dont really feel sorry for him but it must be kind of boring just playing the guitar parts on the keyboard although it certainly sounds good.
I don't think he complains about it too much though, in fact I think some of the keyboard parts they added to the old songs (the mellotron sound in Demon Of The Fall for example) really compliments the music
Yeah i totally agree. I dont know why they didnt consider the position of a full time keyboardist earlier than damnation / ghost reveries. I love some of the sounds Per produces particularly that keyboard thing at 5 : 53 of thebaying of the hounds. I just feel itts a shame that older opeth albums miss the touch that a keyboardist adds.
Yeah. Mikael said in the Ghost Reveries bonus DVD that he used to hate keyboards in metal, then gradually started to change his mind and started to love them
La perfeccion tiene un solo nomre... Opeth!, esta cancion es una de las mejores y verla en vivo me deja sin palabras, como ansio de que ya salga el nuevo dvd!
This is definitely from the RoundHouse Tapes. I've got the cd, and I know it so well that I can tell just by the crowd noises. Also, everyone is wearing the same clothes as the submitted "Bleak" from the roundhouse tapes dvd. Anyway, this is by far the best rendition of the tune.
I'm 99.9% positive this is the same version as on the Roundhouse Tapes cd (listen to the crowd before the song, you can hear a guy yelling). It's pretty bad ass. As far as the vocals being better here than on the album, I wouldn't go that far. The album version vocals are perhaps the best clean vocals I've ever heard anyone lay down.
Saw them Last night at The Warfield in SF...they were AMAZING!
