  • DAMN! Even with a miss shift you still run a great time!

  • i want any ls motor in miata...

  • sac raceway?

  • The rotary gods are not pleased

  • @ricxxxhxxie it's an LS1 though

  • Cool race

  • SWEET I REALY INJOYED WACTHING THAT I BET THAT A SHOCKER ON THE STREETS YOU SHOULD PUT GRANDPA MUFFLERS ON THEM TO MAKE THEM SOUND AS STOCK OR AS QUITE AS POSSIBLE

  • lol sac raceway. cant mistake that retarded looking booth

  • light ass cars with with corvette engines

  • The Rx7 chassis can take more hp and is better in higher speed applications. The miata is good, but no racecar. Still a good sportscar. That's Mazda engineering.

  • @carmodifire The Miata chassis can take just as much abuse as the RX7 if it's going to be used for a race-car.

You can do so much things to the chassis in a Miata to make it solid as a rock.

  • @wajalama I meant the short wheelbase; too much power=spinout. but yeah, they can take a lot more hp than most people think.

  • @carmodifire Ah, I see. Yeah, the short wheelbase can be somewhat of a disadvantage during high speed cornering, but a good driver and a properly set up suspension should help :P

  • 11.9 miata 12.5 missing a gear rx7

  • So what did either car end up running?

  • have you drilled out the master to slave cylinder line on your t56? really helps with shifting.

  • the issue with the rx7 was overextension of the wilwood clutch master which caused the clutch slave to cavitate and not retract. Its all adjusted and shifting is cake now !

  • You really think the T56 was a poor choice? This interests me because I was thinking of NOT using the T56 in my LS powered Miata due to weight rather than shifting. Any complaints that you care to share?

  • like the launch

  • i'd still rather be in the rx7...an ls1 miata is just too damn scary...plus a lot more mods are needed to swap in the ls1...like a rear end from an rx7 lol

  • @Tboom123

Negatron, most LSx swapped Miatae use the Ford or Getrag rear. Even at 7.5" (the RX7's is 7") the Getrag is considered the weaker option versus the Ford rear.

RX7 rear ends are popular with the Miata crowd (I have an RX7's clutch diff in a '96 Miata carrier in my '93 Miata...) because their failure mode is to slip rather than to shatter like a Torsen can. I've yet to see an LSx Miata with an RX7 rear, but I'd love to be proven wrong!

  • @kotomile hmm, i didn't know that...very interesting...and getrag? torsen? oh well, whatever works best...definitely need something that can handle the power lol

  • @kotomile

theres a guy on norcalroadsters that did the rx7 rear with his LS2 swap

  • @spoolinperformance1

Cool, I figured someone had to have done it. How's it mounted?

  • @Tboom123 Too scary? As in too much power to weight ratio? Is that a joke?

Also, it's a shame it's not a last generation RX7, those are dead sexy.

  • Granny shiftin, not double clutchin like you should...

  • driving has nothing to do with the mis shift. clutch pedal is stuck to the floor. cant do much bout faulty hydraulics. the miata has 50 Whp more than my rx7

  • @spoolinperformance1 - You can see where it hung up. Still a nice run and an awesome car!

  • yea i think you could get a much better time with more practice, or maybe just let a better driver try it out :) bad ass car though, I plan to build mine similar.

  • that misshift screwed you over lol
