  • She reminds me of Susan Egan!!!!!!!

  • wayyy too fast singing wise but chorography was absolutely AMAZING

  • Looks great!

  • it sounds too hurried!

  • Way better than Sutton Foster.

  • @JAWAKING44 Good one man!

  • there was one guy whose voice stuck out really really obviously...at least he was on the right note, but still. pretty good. ^_^

  • too fast

  • my favorite movie

  • Why is millie just walking so fast. And the beat is so fast. The real musical is slower. I still liked it.

  • GREAT CHOREOGRAPHY! .. horrible musical direction :(

  • Oh I'm playing Millie in a production of this... and we tapped. But hthis is good too!

  • agree i was trying to sing along and the tempo was really fast faster than the original album much faster and there are lyrics that are not familiar with me in the first part where she is singing not for the life of me and the throughly modern millie cheography was phenomenall

  • couldnt understand a word. consonants are important!

great dancing, sound and look in genreal tho

  • I love the way you used the Broadway choreography and changed it up! Super well done!

  • Wheres the tapping?!?!?!

  • There is never tapping in the opening number.

  • since when? my school is using tapping in the opening and may i say it looks a lot better than this does. it brings it all together

  • The two tap numbers are Forget About the Boy and The Speed Test, along with the little elevator scenes. The opening has never traditionally used tapping. And also, it's a bit arrogant to compare your own show to this one, don't you think? Especially since you're always biasedt towards your own.

  • whoaaaaa...... the tempo is fast.......

  • im impressed...good sound, dancing is definitely not too bad at all......all in all...i liked it

  • that choreography is awesome... look how put together the cast is!

  • actually the tempo is exactly on. unless they got it wrong on broadway...which is unlikely

  • Maybe it's just that they weren't quite together -- but I agree, it does indeed sound rushed.

  • the tempo is a tad fast. but otherwise cool :)

  • the dancing was really good! but the tempo was so fast that the singing really suffered... the diction and volume fell off really badly towards the end... if i didn't already know the words i wouldn't have had any idea what they were singing

  • my favorite part is 3:49

  • I love choreography in this, it's awesome~*

  • good singer, tempo is a bit on the fast side though if not rushing and it could be what is causing the instrumental errors too.

  • I agree the tempo is kinda sloppy and fast, it was pretty good overall though~*

  • yeh i agree with tempo. right before 2 minutes she forgot a line...but other than that, the millie was really good.

  • tempo a bit bright...choreography is recreation of the original by Rob Ashford.

  • very good job im doing this show next summer with my theatre group im so excited

  • i could see the girl who played millie as the bakers wife in into the woods!!!! awsome job!

  • I loved this choreography.

  • The music is REALLY fast. Great choreography though.

  • i thought that was excellent.Very strong lead.

  • Not bad, although the actress playing Millie was way to early at certain points and way fast.

  • Choreography is a strong point, but I agree that the actress who played Millie could have slowed down just a tad. Other than that, they kept really well with the pit orchestra. Nice job.

  • nice!

are you missing a trombone player? i can't seem to hear the trombone solos

im part of this musical as well (elsewhere)

  • i know wen i saw the play there was to much trombone. wtf

  • There is a trombone player there but they're very quiet. It is most noticeable at 'What we think is chic unique and quiet adorable' (Wow the pit probably wanted to kill her with that kind of tempo. I hope she didn't do that during the speed test!)

  • Sorry one last thing to add. The Chic part is the whole ensemble part. (Sounds like the trumpets are dying)

  • Do you know if this is the original Broadway choreography? It looks familiar.

  • very close!

  • my friend told me to look up this show, whats it about?

  • a country girl comes to new york in the 1920s to find and marry a rich man - this production was produced/performed at UCLA by a student group comprised mostly of non-theatre majors

  • The choreography on this number is amazing! It actually reminds me a bit of what I saw when they did this number at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but I think I actually liked the dancing in this performance better. Well done!

  • remarkable choreography

  • shes not that bad actually! theirs not that many good millies, especially with sutton and julie behind the role, and its hard 2 live up to the expectaitions of these girls, but this girls really good.

  • nice voice. i wish he would have taken her time more though, i feel like she couldn't wait to get the words out.

  • Whoever the school was that did this, I think you did an EXCELLENT JOB, dancing was perfect between all students! 100% Fantastic!!

  • Thanks - HOOLIGAN Theatre at UCLA open to all students (not just theatre students) and produces its own shows

  • Absolutley, FANTASTIC!!!

  • It was actually pretty cool because it was done during a really quick movement hid the tearing motion in itself so all you saw was this mass of yellow cotton whip around - along with Millie's long wig and left her with the famous bob. lol

  • wow....it's really fast XD

  • man oh man that was amazing choreography!

    :) good job

  • beautiful voice, but she rushed it soooo much.

  • I think that's a wonderful job for the opening number. Your cast has a lot of talent. It's a shame that MUCH of the choreography has been copied from the original. The choreographer missed out on a great opportunity to work with some fantastic music.

  • That was extremely good choreography!

  • she rushed it sooooo mcuh

  • yess.

  • great!

i know im a perfectionist but millie's dress looked too big for her, it bothered me

    but the rest was great

  • sixrubberduckies:My guess would be so that she could fit that other dress underneath.

  • ooo i didnt think of that

    thanks

but i still think they could but a sash around her waist or something to give her a little bit of shape, but i see ur point

  • I agree that it doesn't show shape, and in a perfect world it would! but extra sashes and buttons or zippers make it so hard to do a quickchange properly. Like if she missed her cue because of a sash, the whole show would look bad. so rather one onflattering dress, than an unflattering show.

  • ya but if she really had her complete dress on under the first dress, it wouldnt be that hard to take off a sash too

even if it was, if u tie it the right way all u would hav to do is pull it off, literally

  • every production i've been in, little things like that mess stuff up.

there just isn't the time, for a wig change, stocking change, and to pull of a sash.

also, a sash int he middle wouldn't have been to period.

the dressed back in 1922 were loose in the middle anyway/

  • I know this really doesn't pertain to the video (sorry) but I thought it was kinda cool and you guys might be interested anyway: in the one production I saw Millie just wore a long skirt over her mini skirt and the long one tore away at the waste so one of the ensemble dancers whirled right by her and took it with him.

  • thats very interesting! i wonder how it looked on stage.

  • i'm liking this choreography.

  • my h.s. is doing this now too, i'm excited!

although one question, does anyone know what kind of character the letch is? (my part)

we just did sleeping beauty, play, i was the prince to rescue her, pretty awesome :D

  • You're the pervert in the Nutty Cracker Suite, I think so. That's what our letch does, he goes after Millie.

I hope you can dance, or you'll completely bomb this. I haven't seen a video of it up here, it's a good song though, however, it requires a lot of singing.

  • really good! we're doing this musical! gonna be great fun

  • really good. is this a high school production? community theatre? what?

  • Hooligan Theatre Company, a student operated club at UCLA. Many of the actors were 1st year students and a few were enrolled in the School of Theatre, but most are just enthusiastic non-theatre majors.

  • This is the exact choreography they used in broadway so nice job perfecting it. I think this millie is great. Can you put up "Forget about the Boy"?

  • it was really good. millie had a great voice, and the choreography was great...a little rushed but it was cute! were doing thoroughly modern millie in our high school this year and i can't wait!!!

  • yeah all i can see is a little rushing but that's totally fixable...

the whole thing put together is adorable!

  • ya..kinda rushed but other than that the choreography was awesome!

were doin this show this year at my highschool, and i cant wait!

  • love the choreography in this, the chorus girls are adorable!

  • ok wait, nvm i made the last comment in the middle of the thing but its really confusing that she has one hair cut one minute and another one the next.

  • Well she starts out as a girl from a small town where she probably wouldn't have gotten a bob because it was socially unacceptable and then moves to the Big Bad Manhatten and converts to a Modern, and cutting her hair. I hope that makes sense xD

  • it was way too rushed

and isnt millie supposed to have a bob...? i mean this is the 1920s

  • nice!

  • Millie is great. but she could have a bit more energy

  • Dang thats a quick change. yeah the music is a bit rushed, but over all it was very good

  • The music sounded a little rushed, but dancing is fabulous...the girl who plays Millie is one hell of a triple threat you got brewing up there

  • the performers are good and everything.. but most of it seemed reaaally rushed.

and idk what happened to their orchestra... right around 4 minutes..

    but they did good!

  • It was very good! The tap was all together and that isn't easy to do. Took me like a month to get down a time step.

The harmonies were a bit off at the end, but it was great!

  • the band sucks! but everything else is good.

  • millie could have been a tad better ;; she should have belted it more like when she says this is 1922 its kinda boring ;; but this is really good ;; im doing it for my high school this year in februrary ;; good job

  • haha im doing in february at my HS! im millie =S and well nervous about it! haha! im sure it will be fine!

    who are you playing?

    xxx

  • the girl at 3:26 on the left is a fabulous dancer

  • Not bad....not bad at all. And for those of you who are saying that this production is copying the orginal choroeography, they really arent. Its similar to Broadway, not the same.

  • There was one guy who was singing way too loud in chorus and his part was sticking out. Not good.

  • Yeha, that one guy in ensemble who had that singing part I guess had the microphone on too high, but he sounded fine. Millie was getting owned by the volume of the microphones, but she was legit.

  • she's going wayyy to fast but she has a good voice

  • the pit is too loud.

my school has that problem too.

  • or she's not loud... :l

  • wow how do you get the rights for the choreography???

  • When you rent the rights of the show for your production you are renting all the rights. If you want to do an exact copy of the Broadway show those rights state that no one can stop you from doing so.

  • FUTURE JOANNA GLEASON!!!

  • im so excited. were doing this at my school

  • overall, great choreography... Millie seemed kind of nasal though... idk. but nice work!

  • oh my she is tall...okay preformance but after seeing sutton foster nobody beats that...

  • haha, well of course, sutton foster is a tony winner; we're a mix of undergrad theater and non-theater majors in a student run production. (and actually, fun fact, sutton foster is 5'9''). :)

  • I'm really happy that you know that...haha

  • 3 weeks later and I still get the chills!

  • I PLAY TROMBONE!

  • :) go drew. that's all i need to say.

  • EXACT choreography from Broadway's production...&

should i be scared for ucla's theatre reputation?!

  • Well, first off this is not a ucla production, and second it is not exact it is influnced from the orginal. and third there is nothing wrong with using orginal choroeography actually most people do the orginal from the show. like 42nd street or any fosse show....so before you place judgement on UCLA think about it first!

  • Hey, first off, it's not a Broadway production, and even if it uses the choreography, who cares? The show looks awesome, better than most of the other amateurish performances on YouTube, so enjoy it, dude!

  • Loved the dancing! I want to see more. :)

  • Beautiful! Can't wait to see the DVD. :)

  • Amazing voice and dancing! I saw show and it was fantastic! Very believable Millie!

  • i love you joanna!
