I felt it necessary to break my views down a little more clearly, as for mariah whom i have a great deal of respect for her recordings that are off the hook, i don't call her a diva because she never sounds like her recordings, the same goes for whitney and if it was not for disco there would be no donna summer, diana ross even though she is very entertaining, she has never won a grammy, gladys knight has a beautiful voice but she doesn't have diva chops! divas are rare not just anyone!

I agree that the back up singers did NOT fail miserably. Not sure what you're hearing.
