  • While this isn't true about 118, even if it were, the point of FIRST is to inspire students to pursue engineering. That doesn't actually require the students to do everything, or anything actually. If the mentors forced the students to not participate then i'd argue that's not very inspiring, but again, that's not true of 118 anyway

  • lol im from team 2242, we went against the 3 best in bayou regional as an opposite alliance, it was murder lol. Cant wait to see what yall come up with this year.

  • I am very interested in the "snap in victors" I would very much appreciate some insight on how to do that...not that it really matters now that we have the "jag(s)"

  • I don't recall seeing this bot a nationals. Or am I blind?

  • The robonauts were in the Curie Division. They didn't do too well in their win-loss record, but were still a first round draft pick. Lost in round one to the HOT-Baxter-Norwell Curie Champs.

  • Holy crap! That thing is amazing. Were screwed lol.

  • what is this song called?

  • this is new born by muse

  • sick bot guys. good luck! what competitions are you guys going to?

    578

  • ahaha well hey i dont kno much about this stuff me and my team yea were rookie we been hearin about all the teams especially all the teams that get help from NASA, we didnt get any help just us and one teacher that was it. i gotta say GREAT ROBOT. as for my team i am not gonna say were gonna win or that we wont, i just want to let all the teams kno that team 2558 is comin to bump against all te robots, and let it be kno that SCIBOTS are comin to first dominated best, now against the big dogs

  • Lolz, Hi im with team 2182, nice to meet you ^_^

  • That exactly what i thought we were a rookie too a little late but same difference...ps we were in the same competition as this guys and we beat them in a qualifying round match whooo Team 2582 Represented...oh and they choose to substitute a bot in the semifinals and we ended up winning 2nd woot woot...nice meeting you

  • Your testing your cool bot in a mega huge room. Where is that?

  • Lolz hope you don't get ...(gently bumped)while firing. Could you imagine how much that would hurt if it went into the crowd. Lolz, not to mention how long it would take for someone to return the track ball to the feild.

  • How does that... thing... make weight?!? I can't believe that thing makes weight.

  • Rookie Team--Don't worry! You'll do great and you'll love the tournament! And it's all about alliances--no team competes alone.

  • That thing is a monster. GL from 1885.

  • Mrs. st Johns team did an amazing job lol shes my chemistry teacher and i would kill to be on that team i think its amazing to work with that kinda technology

  • Jeez, that's a beautiful job!

  • Noice, that is a great robot. ours has an arm and is pretty cool. Good luck from 1652

  • OWNED.....

well... we'll give it our best shot anyway. luckily we're not in any regionals with these guys.

  • Hey...what size jersey does this thing wear? Our basketball team could use it! How amazing!!! Congratulations! The video is great, as well.

  • our team is screwed. oh well we will fight with all we've got!

  • Well done.

Not only that, but you have good choice in music.

Muse - New Born always makes me smile.

  • Has anyone on team 118 considered that from the amount of force required to launch the ball, that it might pose a potential hazard? My team found that the amount of force required to launch the ball is enough to knock someone on their ass, and that's just by gently tossing the ball.

  • nice job! you might consider adding a link to this video on FIRSTObjective. There is also a "My Team" area there too that you can link videos.

  • When is the Robot Volleyball team forming? What an amazing display of teamwork and genius abilities!! Woo Hoo! GO Creek!!

  • OMG that is...amazing

  • Sheesh! my team said a shooter wasn't possible, the ball weighed to much! well... they're going to pown.

  • nasa....

  • ... amazing

  • Wow...

    Not bad for 3 weeks...

    The competition is on....

    *grins*

  • whats the name of that song?

  • "New Born" by Muse, from the album Origin of Symmetry.

  • I'm really interested in your locomotion system. Do you think you could take a video detailing it?

  • MOTHER OF GOD!

  • I forwarded this video to my team's coach. The accompanying text?

    "Oh.

    My.

    God."

  • Cool! My team decided a shooter couldn't be done....

So how do you plan on getting your ball though ? or do you rely on others? Either Way it's cool as hell, Hope to seeya at Nationals

  • as part of a rookie team... i feel slightly overwhelmed. and in over my head. but my team has something that will drive in circles now, so it could be worse...

  • Amazing

Like the crab and turrent that you're using again this year :D

  • Wow, love the camera angles on this video, the launch distance is unlike any robot I've seen so far,

  • Simply unreal. Amazing job on creating a robot that small with that far a firing range.

  • This robot is an amazing piece of work, especially for only being 3 weeks in. Great job!

I hope to see your team at Atlanta!

(By the way, I'm from team 11, MORT.)

  • Set your faces for stunned.

    Wow.

    That is some serious engineering!

  • Very nice job.

  • I have never not been in awe of 118, thanks for another year of "If only..."

  • Robot envy is real.

  • It helps to have NASA on your design Team -,-
