  • Just sang this song for a friends wedding. The perfect song for them.

  • 1 person cannot close his heart to thee...

  • oh love that will not let me go, i rest my weary soul in thee..i give thee back the life i owe, that in they ocean depths its flow may richer, fuller be...oh joy that seekest me through pain,i cannot close my heart to thee..i trace the rainbow through the rain, and feel the promise is not vain..that morn shall tear-less be..oh cross that liftest up my head, i dare not ask to fly from thee..i lay in dust life`s glory dead, and from the ground there blossoms red life that shall endless be..

  • o david

  • - PERFECT Clarity! - The BEST!

  • The bass needs to stop cutting out early.... His part is kind of important

  • @applesauc3 It's Bill Gaither's band, he can do whatever he wants.

  • What the heck?? I hope that dislike is a accident?!

  • If you like this video, you have to hear the cover by Ascend The Hill. It wont let me post the link, just search Oh Love That Will Not Let Me Go by Ascend The Hill at vimeo.com

  • Me and a few other guys are doing this song in a competition this week. I hope we can do it justice to what these guys did. This is simply incredible.

  • I like them (^_^),, a friend suggest me for them... and I like them...

  • Simply beautiful x

  • @Henna257ers Warum sagst Du so?

  • Perfecto, guau!!! me sorprende como David Phelps llega a esas notas altas sin ninguna dificultad increíble

  • Wow!!!

  • o love that will not let me go...

  • Perfection.

  • never tire of the Gaither arrangement of this marvelous hymn. One of my favorite hymns from my childhood, growing up in an ELCA Lutheran Church (#402 in the Service Book and Hymnal, and #324 in the Lutheran Book of Worship). George Matheson, the author, was a blind Scottish pastor who paints beautiful word pictures and sees through the eyes of faith the paradox that is the Christian faith and life(joy through pain, cross lifting us up). Praise the Lord!

  • ......and that ladies and gentlement is not lip syncing that is being able to sing incredibly well

  • Cont... Makes me angry when people comment on amazing musicians and accuse them of stupid stuff like miming. Don't comment unless you know.

For anyone interested this version is a step down from the original. With the highest tenor note on "blossoms red" being A♯ (that particular note is usually a top C). Very nice. Love these guys.

  • First of all, this is an awesome performance of this gorgeous piece. Secondly, anyone who thinks these guys are lip syncing are seriously deluded. The sound is pure, you can hear their breathing. For example at 1:44, the held C that David Phelps has. When it gets to about 1:48, you can see his face tighten as he forces to hold the breath in his diaphragm, and he cuts it off slightly earlier than the rest to take a big breath (which you can clearly hear) before the key change.

  • amazing...

  • wonderful singing....wow...all four parts sung by them mesmerising.....Priase the Lord

  • Why is everybody worried whether Bill is lip-syncing? Maybe he had a sore throat. The MESSAGE is the important thing!

  • where can i get this arangement? does someone know?!?!

  • Comment removed

  • Not really talking about his ability to go low. But at :19 and 1:14, you can see Bill take a breath and still hear his voice at the same time. It's obviously Bill singing but I get the feeling his part was prerecorded. But as stated, it's about the message.

  • totally agree. could be audio-video off sync, but david phelps looks synced.

  • Love, Love, Love GVB. I don't deny Bill's talent. He's done more for gospel music than probably anyone else. But am I the only one who thinks it looks like Bill is lip- syncing on this video?

  • think you might be right though im not sure, but sometimes i wonder if bill can really go that low as we sometimes hear. but it's not really important cuz it's about the message

  • rkc2412.. on both of those parts there was no bass at that exact moment.. he was not lip-syncing as you say.. seems that there might be a less than 1 second lag in the recording though.. this happens alot more often than people may think , and sometimes the artists take grief for it even though they are spot on.. it's just a professional opinion.. Hope that helps..!!!

  • also, you asked if you were the only person to think that he was lip-syncing?? I think theres 2 reasons for that.. 1. you might not like him 2. you seem to WANT to find imperfections in certain works.. I dont think many people would look this hard at a video.. I think most people including myself , watch these videos for pure emjoyment, and some for inspiration... hope i didnt sound like i hated you...

  • You didn't. I know where you are coming from. But yes I do like him, very much. I was just wondering if in his later years he can't perform as he once did and maybe they are trying to "cover up" that fact by prerecording some of his parts. Still love the guy. I also watch these clips for the enjoyment. I've watched hundreds. This was the only time that something struck me as odd. Just my opinion.

  • Of course, I thought I made myself very clear when I said I love them. And as far as the exact moments I pointed out, yes there is bass. And funny how nowhere else in the entire video does there appear to be a delay. Please don't presume that I'm looking for imperfections. This is the one and only time I've noticed this. As much as I love these guys and their music, I still think I've got a valid point.

  • This is one of the best harmonic and accupella pieces that I have ever heard. Spectacular!

  • hepi birthday nananina

  • m-a uns pe suflet melodia asta superba.God Bless!

  • Wow....just....wow....

  • yeah, they were just switching around. They do that a few times on this DVD.

  • this is the best .....

I rest my weary soul in thee..

I give thee back thy life I owned..

O Love that wilt not let me go... oh joy that seekest me through pain

I cannot close my heart to thee I trace the rainbow through the rain

and feel the promise is not vain...

  • David Phelps..what a gracious man. Soloist or team player, he is the same.

  • This is best live performance of this song from any combination gvb. Bill sing the bass good here.

  • Hermosa canción con David Phelps. Juntos otra ves que bueno!!!

  • I love this song. The love of god is my hope. Thank god

  • Guy and Marshall you will be Missed!!

You both will still be out there somewhere using your God Given Talent!

  • @dlwoods7 this is a room FULL of past members. each a great singer in his own right. all are missed, all are enjoyed, all praise God with their song and voices. we each have our favorites, mostly associated with the songs each is known for. but this is an awesome acapella arrangement!

  • @Addway123 I LOVE and have the highest respect for ALL those in that room. I was raised on their music. I wrote that comment over 2 years ago when both Guy and Marshall were leaving the GVB after being apart of it for years. There was no disrespect towards any of the past or of the those joining GVB members. I have no favorites.... I'm just thankful that Bill Gaither listened to God's voice.
