The telephone thing I would have to say would be a way to connect to the Internet. Maybe. I remember when we used to have dial up it went through a telephone cord and into a telephone jack if I remeber right. Idk, we had TigerPaw dial up.
@chancethehippie Its not a mac, its an Apple Computer. Shortly after the release of the //c the Macintosh was released with System 1. The //c probably had a beta version or the guy installed it.
I got my Apple 2c for free too! Around 13 or so years ago. Someone was throwing it away, my dad saw it during a lunch break, and the people who had it were glad to see it going to a good home.
@AerialMage Hello, I'm Mr pedantic, and I'd like to note (despite your comment being a joke) that the first laptop was the Epson HX-20, which really was quite portable.
I created a Wikipedia article on the Apple IIc, mostly for persons like yourself who picked one up and just learning about it. Just type "Apple IIc" on Google; click on the first link.
If your particular IIc is a newer model (ROM 0 or higher), it has a built-in self test you can run by simultaneously pressing Solid-Apple, Open-Apple, Control, Reset.
The GUI shown is Apple II Desktop (nee MouseDesk). It's an 8-bit program that is similar to the early Mac and Apple IIGS Finder, but less powerful
teachers loved the 2c, very small and portable for its time thus it could be carried to classes, notice you even have the small screen, pretty much the complete rig
@ashthepokemonmaster i have one that a friend gave me. still has the original manual and cd's. in a box because i can't plug an ethernet into it to update any of it's software. i'll find a use for it someday!

Nice find! VERY CLEAN!! You probably know this, but the Handle can be flipped down so its a bit of a stand for the IIc to angle it under the monitor.
