This guy's got a superb voice in it's own right. Powerful and controlled. The fact that he's singing a cover will obviously make you compare him to Thom, which is like comparing edam to brie. Now while I love edam, so nutty and irresistable, my favourite will always be brie. So creamy and smooth. The flavour. The texture.
Interesting version (good), however, the difference between this and the original is that Thom Yorke has a unpredictability about his singing, which makes it hypnotic to listen to. Good effort.
Well you like it because its unpredictable, which in itself is impossible for a recorded performance after you have heard it once ;/ Are you saying you predicted every note this bloke sung?
Yes, you feel it coming (Not blowing my own trumpet here but I just can), while with Mr Yorke if I haven't heard him for a couple of days the magic returns. Listen to how Ella sings "Summertime" Berlin 1968 hopefully you'll get what I mean about un-predictable.
Ok maybe you're taking un-predicatable to literally. It doesn't have that sense of improvisation and subtlety which Yorke injects into his music which makes it edge of your seat listening.
Let me give an 'example' of what I feel he's done (BTW I like this version). He has decided to paint the Mona Lisa in his own style, what's the most famous thing about that painting? The smile. He's re-painted the Mona Lisa in a different yet good way but unfortunately for me, Mona is smiling from cheek to cheek with a set of gleaming yellow teeth (16thC).
people use effects on other intruments such as guitar or bass... so why should he be ostrazised for using 'effects' on vocals. (and on the negitive side, 'not artists' such a tpian also use vocal effects) And fuck... if u gonna cover radiohead even half descent you need to get yorkes voice down. And falceto is a style of singing that thom happens to use.. it isnt his (although he does own it :P)
this is an excellent cover, a definite change on the original. but to the comment below me, nothing can compare to the original. it's not better or worse; it's a different take.
fuck all what the others said.... i liked your piano work... it was different from the original and thats what a cover is... something different.. good job! i liked it
Your rhythm- even intentional variations- are awkwardly flubbed many times throughout. In addition, you play the entire song as a 3 chord cycle, when those 3 chords are reordered in the real Videotape (note zartffc's version which realizes this). Finally, no attention at all is paid to the end, just a clumsy sudden impatient ending. Many flaws. Grade: B-

He didn't sing it like the studio version in this cover, I don't see what your point is.
