It's clearly that this animal isn't happy where it is. Polar bear are supposed to be in the arctics hunting not walking around in a zoo chasing a ball.

Polar bears are amongst the most dangerous animals in the world, as they hunt even if they're fed, unlike many other predators.

I think they tried to socialize him with the other polar bears at the zoo and one of them attacked him. O_O I read it in an article somewhere. In fact, I think the bear that attacked him was his father.

I am not sure if the mother of this cub died or not. But this bear has probably had WAY to much human interaction and has lost some aspects of its wild behavior. At least knut is practicing his bone/ice crushing stomps on that toy. I do have to admit it ranks high on the cuddly meter this video.

I didn't realize Knut is a mountain goat! The way he maneuvers those steep "steps" I thought he was. See 2:22 thru 2:26. I'm no scientist but I've read that polar bear cubs are accident prone & clumsy & closely supervised by their moms until around 2 1/2. I'm just one of his adoring "aunties" & I wish he were in a more level polar bear cub enclosure. He has been sedated once for an injured foot and it's very risky.

This is absolutely adorable.  Cute Knut is getting more roly-poly and cuter every day it seems. I'd like to see the press take a second look a him and start to give him the favorable coverage they had in the past. He would bring so much joy and happiness into so many lives if his antics were reported and made available to more people.

well well well, sometimes he does. but the ball seems to fill slowly with water an it kind of sinks, but he is a super diver and has dugg it up several times. given the fact that it's been in the water for weeks now, i find it amazing it still squeaks ;-)
