ok dchartier, first i can guarantee you that wheating ran WAY faster than a 1:57, and second of all your saying how 1:45 is paltry compared to olpympians but at the same time your bragging about your 1:57 which is a decent time but THAT TIME IS PALTRY to the best half milers in my state and in most other states, and wheating is a beast so you should stop putting him down!
he's a good guy. i had a discussion section with him (before the Olympics and all the hype) and he was charming. post-Olympics, he was still the guy that held the door open for girls even if they were walking ten feet behind him. he's refreshingly humble and personable.
@dchartier1 how soon? looks like Wheating won the 800m AND 1,500m....dchartier1...the KING of CHICKEN SHIT trolling! kinda hard to forget an OLYMPIAN SOPHOMORE in COLLEGE. bow down.
He PRACTICALLY has already been FORGOTTEN! People like YOU are trying PATHETICALLY to keep him in the press.
And he does do CHICKEN SHIT racing! EVERYONE knows that if you CONTROL THE PACE you CONTROL THE RACE. Any OTHER kind of racing is JUST PLAIN CHICKEN SHIT!
Olympian sophomore? BIG DEAL! They're a PENNY a DOZEN!
@MrNony64 YES, in act, I've NEARLY broken 17:00! I'm getting LOTS OF INTEREST from colleges for my half, mile, and xcountry TALENT. You wouldn't have heard of me right now due to my YOUTH, but just WAIT A FEW YEARS!
So Wheating runs a LOUSY 1:44 -- BIG DEAL. Still WAY OFF the WR/AR. His 3:30 IS impressive and BETTER than his 800, so he needs to CONCENTRATE MORE ON THAT cuz he doesn't have the LEG SPEED for the half. But until he improves his FRONT RUNNING, he'll NEVER be REMEMBERED.
@MrNony64 HEY, don't talk so BIG, little man, cuz I'm NOT a DISTANCE RUNNER, I'm more a TWO LAP SPECIALIST. Xcountry is just for CONDITIONING. I CONSISTENTLY break 2:00 in the half and can run the quarter in 52. How about YOU? I bet YOU'D have trouble breaking 5:00 in the MILE! Huh? Yeah, I THOUGHT so! So DON'T talk!
@MrNony648:01 for the HALF? You need to PRACTICE some more!
A 4:36 MILE is NOTHING SPECIAL -- just run 4 69s BACK TO BACK and VOILA! I'VE only run the 1600 a FEW TIMES (mostly RELAYS) and still nailed a 4:30 open. I would've run FASTER but for my LACK OF EXPERIENCE in the event. Plus I have TOO MUCH LEG SPEED to do really well at LONG DISTANCE. It's HARD to run FAST in the mile when you have 52-sec QUARTER speed.
I talk LIKE THIS to EMPHASIZE points. Should be OBVIOUS, shouldn't it?
@dchartier1 srry i meant a 2:01 800 m and leg speed dosent really slow you down in the 1600 m, a sprinter at my school runs a 10.8 and got a 4:40 mile with almost no cardio....... and if your so good why havent you beaten Wheatings times yet? and p.s he grew up 10 minutes away from me.
@MrNony64 I haven't beaten Wheating's PRs YET due my YOUTH, but JUST YOU WAIT! I'm getting a LOT of interest from COLLEGES, so my CAREER is justing STARTING. I'm going to run a 1:44 my SENIOR YEAR of COLLEGE. Then, it's SKY'S THE LIMIT!
The sprinter on your team is an OUTLIER. Most people with lots of LEG SPEED couldn't break 5:00 if their LIVES DEPENDED ON IT. I just have TOO MANY fast twitch muscles to excel at DISTANCE. TWO laps is my LIMIT.
@dchartier1 no i meant why haven't you beaten Wheating's high school PR's? And don't BS me, cause as i have said before, i grew up near wheating, so i know his times and you've already said yours..... and that's just an excuse to not work hard in the mile, no such thing as to much speed in the 400m, but not enough in the 1500m.
@MrNony64 Wheating DIDN'T run the 800 in HS, so we CAN'T COMPARE our specialties in HS. He DID run a 3:54 1500, which is EQUIVALENT to a 4:13 mile. I HAVEN'T run that, and I WON'T in HS, but AS I SAID, I have TOO MUCH LEG SPEED to do well in the MILE. I HAVE run a 1:57 800 as a JUNIOR, so I've got THAT on Wheating. And I GUARANTEE that he didn't run a 52 QUARTER in HS.
There is such a thing as TOO MUCH SPEED for the 1500. Just look at JUANTORENA -- NO WAY he could run a good 1500!
@dchartier1 yeah but u bet Juantorena run's much fast that a 52.... just gussing cause I have no clue who he is, and wheating ran a very fast 800 m in HS, but not much official times because they were smaller, in state races.
@MrNony64 Of COURSE I know who JUANTORENA (a.k.a,. El Caballo) is! And NO, I haven't run a 44 yet DUE TO MY YOUTH. But JUST YOU WAIT! I can run a 52 NOW, so in a few years I SHOULD be able to run TWO of those BACK TO BACK, meaning I'll NAIL a 1:44. Just you WAIT!
I don't know of ANY official times by Wheating in a HS 800. But since your're SO smart, what IS his HS 800 PR? I bet he DIDN'T run a 1:57!
@dchartier1 Acttualy im almost positive that it was about a 1:54.6 or some thing around there, but I mean, come on hes not THAT good, he only ran in the Oylimpics as a sophmore in College.
@MrNony64 I've NEVER seen that mark recorded. But EVEN if that's TRUE, I ran a 1:57 as a JUNIOR, and PLAN to run a 1:50 my SENIOR YEAR.
Sure, he MADE the U.S. Olympic team as a college sophomore (with a PALTRY 1:45 in the TRIALS -- not EVEN good enough to MAKE IT in many years), but that just shows how PATHETIC the U.S. is in the HALF these days. He went NOWHERE in Beijing. And PART OF THAT is because of his CHICKEN SH*T race tactics. He better LEARN from EXPERIENCE!
@MrNony64 Compared to MANY Olympic years, a 1:45 IS paltry.
Yeah, you can SAY that my SAYING that I'll run a 1:50 my senior year is ARROGANT or BALLSY, but that's the ATTITUDE of CHAMPIONS! Just you WAIT and SEE and I'll MAKE IT SO!
personally i don't think wheating carries himself as well as symmonds. symmonds takes a more humbled approach to winning and interviews that I don't think andy quite does. that's why i tend to have a bit more respect for symmonds in that regard.
What he mean is that second still gets him into the Olympics; this race doesn't count for anything besides in the Olympics or not, so when they get there, they will be equal. So, in reality, second IS just as good as first in this race. Chill out people.
why is everyone giving him such a hard time? i highly doubt any of u dissing him could run that many laps in under 40 minutes. and second is incredible. he will definitely do well in beijing.
Andrew is just emerging. He is a great competitor, just not experienced yet. BTW...he is also now an Olympian...headed to China. The other guy was eliminated in the semi-finals.

second IS NOT just as good
he loves competing, but is happy with second?
he probably would have won if he wouldn't have sat so far back so long. he's young. he'll learn. but i wonder about his drive if he's so satisified with second???
