remember that altered/extended art cards are for collecting purposes only. You will not be allowed to play these cards at any bigger tournament and if you do so, a judge must issue you a warning for marked cards minor (even if the card got the same thickness, weight, etc. as the original) and ask you to use an original copy of the card.

You can use heaps of stuff. For basics and starting off, I'd recommend using an ultra fine point permanent marker (like a Sharpie or Bic Mark-It). But as you progress, you could move up to acrylics and whatnot. Still, you need to know how to draw to actually make it look good. xD
