  • love this guy

  • Can u tell me how to use 3d objects we created here in Movies????

  • awsome tutorial man, the best around for 3ds max!

  • You are a life saver! You just helped me pass the class!

  • I have made a magical staff and every time i go to rotate it, it rotates the main part faster that the orb on the top

    Help??

  • it dont work for me it us keeps linking the hose to the bottom of both thee straws

  • Hint: You can select all three objects and go to modify panel and change the colors simultaneously

  • @starstealer143 left click n hold mouse button and move ur mouse sideways. That worked for me

  • i am using 3ds max 2010 am having a prob with moving an object becoz i can only move the object to x and y cannot move to z so what can i do???

  • @thenewboston @bscbscdk in 2012 the tube goes all the way down the smaller tube :( what to do???

  • i really appreciate it ..thanks to uploader :-)

  • Does that look good? "Yeah, that looks good."

  • Hi Bucky, I got this strange problem,

on the main editing map I can see my objects in the middle of the ediing zone, but on the other maps I see them far away from it which interrupts the editing.... have any idea how come?

my graphic card is: ATI Radeon HD 5700 series, so there shouldn't be a problem...

  • 111111 viewer

  • Hi I wonder how to bind other objects like for example if i would like to combine a Box with a Rectangle or something else?

    appreciate for some answers

  • Thanks for doing all the tutorials, I'm loving them! Subscribed!

  • thumbs up if u pirated this BAM we got STRAW

  • dragging down the pipes make the bounding works, and BAM!!! else the hose will cover the whole tube.

  • mcdonalds in england dun haz bendeh strawz :(

  • @jordannw2010 In Wales they do ;)

  • BAM!

  • Mh, everyting went well, but there is some kind of glitch in the middle of the hose, a bit anoying, but it's something I can ignore for now. But please reply if someone has a fix for this OR is having the same problem as I am having (:

Great tutorial, I was so glad that you're the maker of these tutorials, because your Python ones were GREAT, even though I'm an experienced Pythonist, I learned some cool little shortcuts, here and there.

  • @MrJakobSteinn I fixed this problem right after posting, the easy fix is choosing eather tube001 or tube002 and then rotating it 90 degrees. So, pick rotation tool, select ie. tube002 and then write 90 in the z axis in the lower-panel. (: YAY!

  • Great man, you are the best. Best tutorials ever :)

  • what if i accidentally move the top view how to i reset to default?

  • something wrong with d video can u plz upload it once again....

    need hepl for this asap

    thanks :)

  • Does binding objects make them function as one, for example when using bones?

  • why the hell did i pay $20,000 for school when i could have learned here for free fml

  • @e You won't get a degree from the internet though :P

  • @e because you're a dumbass?

  • @SwootsHD

    no1 is asking u

  • Ffs i dont get it i try FROM TOP TO BOTTOM IT STILL LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING SHIT I DO EVERYTHING NOTHING HELPS PPL. wtf 2012 is the problem or what ? i have done this for 5 times from top to bottom no all it does is a tube of shit at best!

  • I decided to make a penis instead.

  • 1 thing, mcdonalds doesn't have bendy straws.. lol good tut :)

  • This does not work the hose just goes all the way down, and you dont respond to the comments, have a dislike.

  • @iszalgocomin When making the tube, drag from top to bottom, not bottom to top when setting the height

  • awesome, but please try to use less "GO AHEAD AND"

  • @saioke COME AT ME BRO

  • I've been watching this awesome video series. This is exactly what I needed to help get started. Question....

My scale is way off compared to yours. Your first tubed used 6&7 for radius, mine is like 1500&1700cm to be a comparable size. How can I get to the same scale as you? I tried Reset but that didnt do it.

  • Why the FUCK didn't you add more sides to the hose to make it rounder?

Well thanks anyway, the more retarded 3d modellers there are the better the chance of me getting work...

  • @mootybog Calm down, bro. No need to get mad.

  • I FUCKING LOVE YOU

  • i did it !

    but what is it for?

i mean i did it but it means nothing until i know why ist there

its funny cuz sometimes i make things i dont know what are they

  • Evey time i make a tube it goes above the pivit...not half so when i had hoes it looks like shit?? help

  • and..... Bam

  • you really deserve more views!! :)

  • 2:44 - Select your 'hoes =]

  • The hoes keeps going to the bottom of the long part

  • Bendy straw :D

  • im using auto desk 3ds max 2012 and ive tried it on 2010 and evrything goes great but in 2012 i the hose goes all the way down to the bottom of the tube \= what to do?

  • @bscbscdk :undo the snap and check , may it work !!!

  • @bscbscdk : hey sry for my previous reply , just keep those 2 straws in " L " position and try out , if it doesnt work , just change the end of the straws by rotating without changing the position...... i got through it finally ;)

  • @bscbscdk It's they way you make the tubes , you make them the other way around , opposite to what he says , instead of dragging down you drag up :)

  • @bscbscdk have you tried rotating the tube so it's upside down?

  • @Joe1214 I know i'm a bit late with the comment but I saw it and thought I should say something XD

  • @bscbscdk I had the same problem not sure how I fixed it.. I started from new again, when it come back to the hose I zoomed in close put the hose above the grid and clicked the top of the tubes

  • @bscbscdk ok so after ages of playing about with it i have finally found out what the problem is. the hose connects to the the tube at the height of 0 E.g if you make a tube and drag it below the grid the hose will connected at the top of the tube. if your make the tube and pull it above the grid the hose will connect at the bottom of the tube... play about with it make a tube connected a a hose and play with the height of the tube going above and below the grid you will make sense of it.

  • great man !

  • noob tube?

  • domo thankyou

  • Nice you don't get bendy straw at mcdonalds tho

  • wooonderfull

  • How do you do this with just spheres?

  • Nice vid!

  • There is a easier way to duplicate objects.

Hold down shift and drag the object over. Select Clone for a new model

  • get a student license free for 3 years

    students(dot)autodesk(dot)com

you can get 3ds max 2012 all free for educational purposes

  • Wooo!!

I also made a bendy straw! BAM!

  • I keep having the same problem with the second tube getting engulfed by the hose. I tried rotating the problem tube 180 degrees, but NOW that has created this weird corkscrew hose thats clipping itself and everything around it. So, basically the problem is the the stupid hose wants to bind to the inner face of that side. Y U NO WORK 3DS MAX??!?!

  • @dannyland1 when you created both of the tubes, did you drag down for the heights of both of them? That may be your problem

  • @dirnol Iol, thanks. I get how that happens, but still don't get why it happens. But now my hose goes into the clouds...its so tall and i don't know what I did. It's just straight up and down.

  • damn, i can work as 3d modeller now !!

  • Thank you so much :D amazing work and so helpfully im learning fast with your help! :D

  • Hi there i have a question for you, or anybody. im working on a rose and the "stem" is a loft object and i modeled thorns for the "stem". i was wondering if its possible to connect the thorns to the loft that way if i change the edible spline to change the curve of the loft, i wouldnt have to edit each thorn into position. I hope that made sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

  • wiiw. .i just made it..and mine is better thanyours,,tnx dude!!!!!!!really amazing!

  • Can you bind other objects? like, other than a hose?

  • I actually made something legitimate!! MAMA DO YOU LOVE ME NOW?!?

  • Ughh! this is so good! Thank you!

  • any idea why my hose is binding with the wrong face of the tube?

  • I'm blessed.

  • my extended perimitives dont work wtf?!?!!

  • 4:24 i think its a slinky now

  • the "Butt" ??!!! LMAO

    Cool tut ;)

  • I DID IT xO

  • Nice ! But it's posible to Bind more Objects or we can Bind just 2 ? peac.

  • WHERE CAN I GET 3DS MAX 5.1?!?!?!

  • That looked so sexy when you moved it around.

  • @BlackxPanther thats wat she said... :P

  • Best tut I've seen yet!thank you

  • ive tried following your tut as closely as possible however i repeatedly have this problem where the bendy part of the hose has a gap at the top of it (like a missing segment or something). can anyone help?

  • @MegaDriveChris Yes, I tried to recreate your problem. Try grabbing the one of your tube ends and using the rotate tool up on the top tool bar (for object rotation) and rotate the selected tube on its X axis (Like your trying to spin the tube like a top) . You should only have to adjust it slightly. It's a kink in the hose essentially from the rotation of the tubes. Hope that helps if you hadn't found a solution yet

  • your awsome

  • i keep havin the same problem @LustBloodInc its infuriating lmao

  • dude this is a great tut but one problem i keep getting is whenever i add the benndy part of the straw it connects to the bottom of the shorter one like the part you drink from, then the rest of it it uber high. Any help?

  • @LustBloodInc

I'm sure someone answered you already, but the easiest way, i would think, would be to flip the one straw 180 degrees, so the part that the benndy part is connected to will be facing up

  • @LustBloodInc I think I know what the problem is. In the beginning of the video he says to draw down not up. So the part where you started from when creating your object will be taken as a starting point when assigning your top and bottom objects of your house. And yes, it works now!

  • @LustBloodInc Try drag down the pipe when creating it. works for me, hope it helps. (:

  • @LustBloodInc I think you made the tube from the bottom up or vice versa, try flipping it.

  • @LustBloodInc When you make the tube, pull down instead of up.

  • @TheTijuannaBibleClub I try that but then the bendy part sticks up like something pushes it from the bottom.

  • @LustBloodInc ME TOO!!!! Did you figure out how to fix this issue?

  • @LustBloodInc The problem here is how you create tubes. As man said in the video you make both tubes down. If you make one tube down 2nd up you'll get what you described.

  • @j3drz3j Wrong, it always does it, Iknow, cause I have it up now.

  • @iszalgocomin Try again. I had same problem and during my 2nd attempt of making tubes everything went all right

  • @LustBloodInc Dammit me too :(

  • hello! what exactly is your email address?

so that i could mail u my doubts regarding 3d max :)

  • thanks for the sharing!!!

  • i gotta say your the best person ive seen that has done any tutorials ive tryed to make heads and tails of this program prior to watching ur tutorials but i couldnt. ive went from being a total newb to a slightly less newb XD.

  • Your the best, dude, thanks

  • i <3 u

  • every time i make the hose . it just mess up and gets all huge and it doesn't even connect can you plz help me bro!?

  • Man you're really quick and witty haha:

"...It would probably be the blessed- blessed? Ha, I'm blessed... I meant BEST- thing to do."

  • so go ahead and...

  • By far the best tutorials I've found on the net! Even have humour.... sort of ;P

  • What kind of jobs can i do if i became a pro...???

  • @TheCuteRockBoy modeler i guess.

  • @TheCuteRockBoy A professional animator, I guess the ultimate dream would be working in a feature animated film, such as Toy Story

  • It freaked me out when he was moving the straw 0.0

  • hahah im blessed LOOOL

  • OMG I MADE A STRAW!! its epic :DDDD

  • my hose doesnt connect at the top of the two tubes, it connects at the bottom of each tube...

  • @xbreakthehabitx Like he said; make sure you set the height negative

  • thnx man your the best

  • this tutorial does no show me how to bind objects in general, only how to use the hose modifier. for instance, this does not show me how to bind a square to a circle, or a head to a body, how do i do this?

  • I have a problem.

In the middle of hose is split in two parts

  • I love YOU, NO HOMO

  • Woohoo! I made a bendy straw!

    I R Animatur!!!!

  • @PrinceSephiroth

    Me gusta

  • @PrinceSephiroth *Modeller...

  • the hose binds to the bottoms of the tubes.. plz help

  • Fantastic!! Can you use this technique to join arms to a torso?

  • @DurbBob Hold shift and drag the object that you want to copy/clone

  • thank u very much for these. I really learned a lot.

  • @DurbBob if you know the keyboard shortcut for copy and paste then you should be able to duplicate... select object plress ctrl-C , then ctrl-V....select over the object and move it ..you will notice that the old one will still be at the background while the duplicate one is intact...

  • Why it takes the tube as 1 segment even if the hight segments are 5. The hose covers all the tube. Can you help me?

  • @sashetoa

MAKE SURE that the height of the tube is MINUS, by either adding a - in the height parameter, or dragging down when creating the object

    Hope that helps!

  • You are the best I thank you

  • okay thank you so much, i need help though because my pan tool is gone and also I am having trouble after going to fullscreen full it wont let me leave,

  • my hose binds to the bottoms of the tubes automatically whats up with that?

  • @arktikgraywolf1 It means that your tube has a positive height. I also had this problem. Once you have the lengths of the tube to your liking just modify the length of the tubes by adding a "-" in front and then it should connect up properly :)

Thanx buddy, May GOD Bless u!! :)

  • ur the best tutorial maker ever.

good loud voice slow abd exact.

i use 3ds max since over a jear every weak and i thought ii would now much..

but then i saw ur tutorials^^

    thumbs up for ya

  • Good tuts man,but you say "go ahead" way too much...nothing bad, just a heads up

  • Love the tutorial man,I was tearing my hair out earlier

But this is clear.concise and occasionally funny.

    "I'm blessed",Lol.

I want to create a P90 weapon for source engine but I haven't got a grasp of 3dsmax,but you have the magic.

    So thanks

I'll watch the rest of your tutorials also. This particular piping tutorial will be great for a cable attached to a flashlight on the top of the gun.The tutorials that came with the program are Ass.

    Yours are excellent.

  • wew i made it ..tnx!

  • OMG i made a bendy straw!!! lol

    good tut...

  • First of all i want to thank you for the tutorials and for your time i hope to get it to the expert level. Now the jamez2u has a question "What happens when the hose connects at the bottom of the tubes?"that hapen because at the 3rd click when you create the tube (when you define the height) it must be minus (at the 3rd click drag the mouse down).I hope this helps. Keep the good (excellent) work.

  • supprised he didnt say Maccas not Mddonalds

  • Comment removed

  • this really helps. and i like ur voice olso. =)

  • i have a question how do i remove this blue box thing line crosses it, its with my cursor when i hover over the grid

  • Roflmao'd ath the giant bendy part! :D

    Great tut's, sub'd! :D

  • lol i failed xD

How can someone fail on this? it's easy ! O_O

  • my straw is totally fucked. lol whats that about assinging pivot points? good tute though

  • For people having trouble with the Hose twisting for some reason if both tubes are exactly lined up on the Y axis it twists. I have no idea why and it would be great if someone could clear this up.

And the next major issue of the hose going to the bottom of the tubes, if you put in an exact measurement in the height box it will automatically set the pivot at the bottom of the tubes. This can be fixed, just google "assign pivots"

Really hope this helps you guys!
