Just wanted to point out a great but forgotten book, that proves that the annals of Tacitus are entirely a forgery. Look the book up as a free Ebook Barcciolini and Tacitus. It is a 19th century book, not concerned with the argued passage. In fact never mentions it. The author is not grinding that axe at all. Wanted to point that out to the author.

Well Hercules I got a reply from a person involved with the Jesus Project. I was informed that unlike many non academics in the JM movement, Dr. Price and Dr. Carrier see the JM as an interesting theory and lean toward it but are NOT dogmatic that the HJ position is wrong and the JM is right. Also all the scholars who are PhD level agree that the James brother of Jesus passage (gospel Jesus) which mentions Jesus son of Da. at the end by Josephus IS A PASSAGE WITH TWO MEN NAME JESUS not one man.
And she informed me that as a scholar, she has never heard of a Xian cult, Xian pagan religion or modern Xian scholar. That the person using this term must be joking with me. So please sir, as I sit here right now, I really doubt that there is any such thing as a Xian cult or religion. Please explain what this is or please stop using such a term for I am convinced it is something you have 'made up' and I don't have time for jokes. The 'sermon on the mount' actually comes from the 'Poimandres' originating in Egypt. A Hermetic text as explained by several different scholars with PhD's in Christ in Egypt starting on page 473.
Scholars are divided about whether Jesus delievered the entire sermon on the mount once, repeated it several times, gave parts of it at different times and if some of it was borrowed by gospel authors. Well Hercules I got a reply from a person involved with the Jesus Project. I was informed that unlike many non academics in the JM movement, Dr. Price and Dr. Carrier see the JM as an interesting theory and lean toward it but are NOT dogmatic that the HJ position is wrong and the JM is right. Also all the scholars who are PhD level agree that the James brother of Jesus passage (gospel Jesus) which mentions Jesus son of Da. at the end by Josephus IS A PASSAGE WITH TWO MEN NAME JESUS not one man.

Also heard from James D.G.Dunn (1939-), M.A &B.D. from University of Glasgow, PhD and D.D. from Cambridge and past president of "Noui Testamenti Societas", the LEADING international body of NT study said the JM is rejected by all he has known and worked with. Has heard of Dr. Tabor, Dr. Ehrman etc but NOT DM Murdock or Acharya S. You do know you are following a lady (with all due respect to her) who is loose with the facts as best I can tell from what I heard her saying here, and is not known.

Also the lady on this video makes the same mistake you made Hercules. She quotes a Jewish source that claims that Josephus and Tacitus are generally agreed to be Christian interporlations. That is not truthful and you are aware of that. That hurts her scholarship to make such extreme and inaccurate claims and quote sources that are not accurate and truthfull. And that is what you get when you rely on someone on a mission rather than a PhD level scholar who is only after the facts.

And that Paul's letters, 46CE to 68CE, prove he knew Peter, John and James whom Paul called the Jesus' brother.

Dr. Alice Whealey's 2003 survey, She too is a Josephus scholar and believes Jesus is historical and Josephus mentions gospel Jesus twice, says by a 5 to 1 ratio Josephus scholars believe the James passage is genuine as is and tha the TF has a core Josephus passage that was later 'glossed' by a Christian to make it more pleasing to a Christian reader. Dr. Geza Uermes, another top scholar, is convinced the TF is largely written by Josephus and is about the gospel Jesus.

They do no such a thing Hercules. I've never read a skeptical scholar say there is no credible evidence for a HJ. But they surely don't think much of the JM theory and theory is all that it is. And which version of the theory do you subscribe to Herc? Doherty's, Wells, hers, which one? I would assume you think Murdock is the greatest writer on Jesus and being a myth that has ever breathed. The crucifixiion for example is called a historical FACT by almost ALL skeptical scholars. A FACT!!

This lady as I understand it, doesn't even believe the apostle Paul existed or wrote any thing in the New Testament. With the exception of an upcoming book by Price, I can't find ANYONE who agrees with her. She is NOT a professional, has NO degree that would even qualifiy her to speak to a group of PhD level scholars at a confernece. And yes it is TRUE that Price AND Carrier, while leaning toward the JM are not dogmatic about it and still think a HJ is possible while this poor lady does not.

Having a PhD means a ton Hercules. Acharya AND Doherty are handicapped by not having one according to Carrier. Carrier says the JM position needs PhD level people writing these books. When Brian Williams of NBC News wants to get an expert opinion on a matter to put on NBC Nightly News, who is he going to ask, Tabor or Acharya? Sorry but she looses. This lady is LOOSE with the facts and selective with her sources and often uses sources that support her claim but are not the MAJORITY postion.

I haven't read ANY of her books and I wouldn't waste my time with her books. She is NOT a professional. I make the judgment that she is LOOSE with her facts and sources by what I HEAR her say on these videos. I've listened to this one, part one and a couple of others. She is selective with her sources so as to give the impression that scholarship is on her side when the opposite is true. Also having Price heaping praise is not impressive. Price is out of step with most other PhD level people.

You are changing the subject Hercules. Now you seem to want me to defend the gospels are being entirely accurate and historical. John P. Meier, James Tabor, Bart Ehrman and many others know outside the gospels there are only tidbits about Jesus but as they say, there is still MORE about Jesus than many of his time. Even the majority of atheists who are historians and scholars agree that the gospels do contain some historical information about Jesus. It is extreme and rare to reject that.

You are talking about the miracle stories now Hercules. Skeptical scholars such as Tabor and Ehrman don't believe that. As a matter of fact a top scholar of the past has a great book about the historical Jesus, his crucifixion, his birth, the sermon on the mount and other teachings and how the Christ of faith Christian movement added these stories which were borrowed from pagan mystery religions. That is not the fuss. It is rejecting a HJ that was the starting point of what became Xian doctrine.

Dr. John Dominic Crossan as do almost ALL skeptical scholars DOES accept items IN the gospels AS HISTORICAL such as the sermon on the mount, a few other saying of Jesus, his birth being during the time of King Herod and THE CRUCIFIXION in the time of Tiberaus and under orders of Ponitus Pilate. The 'sermon on the mount' actually comes from the 'Poimandres' originating in Egypt. A Hermetic text as explained by several different scholars with PhD's in Christ in Egypt starting on page 473.

Scholars are divided about whether Jesus delievered the entire sermon on the mount once, repeated it several times, gave parts of it at different times and if some of it was borrowed by gospel authors. But as best as I can tell from checking around, they agree jesus actually said most if not all of it and was crucified by pilate around 30 CE. my wife is raising hell for me tying up computer debating what can't be absolutely proved either way. I must do this when I'm alone, for peace here.

They are divided because Jesus wasn't the first to deliver a 'Sermon on the mount' as already explained. It wasn't authentic to Jesus.
There's no credible evidence for Jesus' trial, crucifixion or resurrection nor can the "500 witness" be accounted for as even Xian NT scholars concede.

Murdocks book is 600 specifically on Egyptian influence on the later Christian faith.

You are WRONG. The vast majority of historians and scholars see the crucifixion of Jesus as a HISTORICAL FACT. Skeptical scholars find the crucifixion which is also confirmed by Josephus, Tacitus etc as one of the few things IN the gospels that IS historical. Acharya also is LOOSE with the facts. Such as quoting that Jewish paper that says "it is generally agreed Josephus and Tacitus are interporlations". That is NOT true and you know it. Amost ALL scholars accept Tacitus and Josephus.

Ah now the name calling. You are in a bubble and a cult. All you have to do is Google the crucifixion or go to Barnes and Noble and look for yourself. The MAJORITY of historians and scholars accept the crucifixion as historical fact. And that IS a fact. Check it out. Josephus mentions the crucifixion and scholars accept that from the pen of Josephus by a ratio of 5 to 1. Only a tiny minority believe the passage is forged or the entire passage was written by Josephus. Tacitus is accepted too.

Josephus - EVEN *IF* considered authentic is not & will never be sufficient evidence for a HJ. It is inconclusive at best !! Josephus is too late - he is not any sort of eyewitness - he was born AFTER the supposed death of Jesus.
