  • I love your hairy hands

  • @09hatfij Automatic caption says he has "frilly pink hands". LOL.

  • What a crappy system.

  • 3 users lost their Microvisions :)

  • Hey Gamester81 you don't have to speak softly you can tell me all your secrets...

  • yea its a great hand held i got one too on ebay in the box and with four other games great review.

  • Mine still works after 30 odd years.

  • unfortunately this system was a bomb. Did intellivsion steal its thunder? Y did it fail?

  • Wow XD

    That system looks awesome!

  • Thanks for post it

  • That's funny how you have to buy almost one half of the unit for a different game.

  • Actually watch out, cos you can fry the internal chip on the games by pulling down that little flap where the pins are, if you have built some static on your body

    Happy & Careful gaming!!

  • 9 volts....makes the game gear look power friendly

  • Most expensive carts to develop EVer.

  • Very impressive handheld for '79, I bet it still beats out many Tiger lcd games today!

  • @illustriouschin just make sure NOT to apply pressure to the screen, otherwise it will fuck up the screen's visuals

  • hot damn it has 2 9 volts?

  • Looks and sounds like an Etch-a-sketch Animator.

  • prefer the old led games. but the mv was pretty cool for an lcd game. and congrats on getting one without the screenrot as most tend to have

  • For something from the same era as "Simon", Boney M and Three's Company, this thing looks amazing! Way ahead of it's time!

  • Great video!

The system is a pioneer, and actually tjhe idea of having every cartridge have its own unique buttons is very cool and unique if you think about it.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Why are we being so quiet? It sounds like you are talking low enough to not wake the Gameboy. Keep up the good work.

  • this thing runs off 18volts ?

  • One of the guys who helped design this also designed the smoking guitar Ace Frehly used to play in Kiss.

  • You should do bedtime magic on the radio!!!

  • I still have a Microvision myself. The screen did die unfortunately... I also have Block Buster and Phaser strike.

  • This is a must have for any collectors. It's like the magnovox odyssey of handhelds!!!

    Really cool video!!

  • I need to get one of these

    Great video!!!

  • @Jgump20:

they are kinda cheap (but rare as hell) on ebay, hurry up

  • cant hear a damn thing ur sayin.

  • Awesome

  • You have a very likeable voice! You could be a radio speaker for reports, newscasts, etc.

  • cool

  • is vas onlie 12 game to it.

  • ign used some part of this video for the gameboy 20th anniversary = )

  • no wonder game boy was the king

  • My mom bought me one of these at a garage sale when I was 5. I thought it was the coolest thing (it was 1982...)

Unfortunately, I liked to take things apart, and broke it :(

I also broke my Apple IIc... (boy did I get the belt!!)

  • I look forward to finding this some day.

  • Can we expect a holiday launch for xmas 2010?

  • pretty awesome for 1979

  • Nice vid,. thanks for sharing.

  • the AVGN need to review that, if he has one of this.

  • I've always wanted one of these.

  • two 9v batteries? holy fuck

  • @illydinxaxen according to wikipedia that was for the early intel powered units, the later texas instruments models only needed one and the other slot was a "extra battery holder"

  • 0:10 I'm staring at a wall

  • if you dont mind me saying u have a mega deep voice lol

  • a little too big to be a handheld, I think it looks too clunky

  • Pretty impressive for 1979!

  • the reason why peoples screen systems started failing was due to static shock, i read about it in a book. A guy by the name of John elder robison was a leader behind the development of this system. the original systems failed quickly but apparently they modifyed the environment in which these systems were manufactured in to keep it static free. that was after christmas in 1979 due to all the failed units around that time.

  • tons of handheld interchangable game based systems came out before the gameboy. microvision, tiger playmaker, coleco total control, entex select a game, adventurevision. its debatable which came first. but they were all pretty cool

  • I had one with blockbuster ,baseball, and bowling. blockbuster and baseball quit working I think due to esd and bowling died probably due to the screen failing.

  • I have one of these. I've got blockbuster, pinball and star trek.

  • I have the Microvision. 3 or 4 games for it too-- in the boxes! w00t!

  • 13 games did it sell more or less than the virtual boy.

  • @ RandomXv

    Probably sold less.

  • @Gamester81 I want to make love to your voice

  • Brings back memories! I received one for Christmas in '79, screen went out within days. We got a replacement and the same thing happened, my mom returned that one and that was that, never had another one. Nice to see you have a working model!

  • cool for its time it was probably like the greatest gadget ever

  • How did you find the Microvision

  • I got it on ebay awhile ago.

  • @JOESONYNERD I found mine in my grandma's basement, and it has been there for over 30 years and it still works!

  • That star Trek game reminds me of Atlantis (2600) a lot, with three different guns and the stuff getting progressively lower.

Awesomelittle system, but not many games for it.

  • increible que conserves la microvision con lo delicada que es

  • AWESOME review. Its so old and weak that it is awesome :)

  • Good video with a fair review of the system.

I think the MB Microvision is great.

Actually played this beast a lot - especially Blockbuster.

There is another MB Microvision review where I posted winning strategies for Blockbuster.

Other good titles of the MB Microvision include (IMHO):

    - Alien Raiders (Blitz)

    - Connect 4

    - Super Blockbuster

    - See Duel (even though I think the submarinee is better off than the battleship)

  • It looks like a remote.

  • I had one of those!!!

  • they actually renamed the start trek game to just phaser strike apparently lol

  • What the?? 2 9-volt batteries!? that's alot of battery power!

  • Well, the two 9V batteries are only required for early models.

I own three MB Microvisions, none of which requires more than one 9V battery - they all must be newer devices with a different CPU from the original design.

Actually, I never saw any unit requiring both 9V batteries.

The batteries power the system for quite some time. I never tried but I assume that the power of 1 9V battery is enough for one week of continuous play. Maybe even way more. But this is experience from new units only.

  • gosh who ever thumbs down him it was a joke IGN use his part of a video for there gameboy video.

  • is the microvision harder to find?

  • It's not that hard to find a Microvision, however it's much harder to find a system that actually works considering the screen went out a lot on these due to their age.

  • do you know the microvision appeared in the film friday the 13th part 2/

  • Yeah I heard that somewhere before. LOL great bit of trivia for sure.

  • nice! i always wanted to see one.

  • u shud get a epoch game pocket computer

its the second portable video game with interchangable cartridges

    itcosts about 800$

  • Yeah it is an interesting handheld. Only released in Japan I believe. I've looked into it, and perhaps someday I'll pick one up. Thanks for the recommendation.

  • No they have them on ebay for 50 bucks!

  • I would have hated to carry the games around lol.

  • "hope for a sucker to buy it" it worked for you LOL

  • wonderful that every new game can have new buttons in the shell, kind like the modern iphone :D ahhaha not quite the same though :D

  • i think one of the other reasons why it didn't do so well is that the games are huge. very huge. lol

  • So the Microvision itself is just one half of the unit, the game is the other half. Strange handheld but good to know it was the first portable.

  • nice review

  • Wow dude what a crap game, huh? First handheld though...

  • Actually, Blockbuster is anything but crap.

I played this a lot way back in the mists of the past.

And actually after a lot of practice and some experimenting you find good winning strategies.

Very sensitive controller though - it takes some time getting used to.

My highscore using the standard settings (7 balls, S(low new ball), T(hree pixel bat)) is something like 1250 points.

Remark: After 999 points the counter returns to zero.

I posted winning strategies at another MB Microvision review.

  • That is one of the weirdest things ever. The game is like the same size of the system!

I like Star Trek as well. The new movie actually looks decent, but I am still skeptical. We haven't had a good one since First Contact in my opinion.

  • Great vid!

Your system is in mint condition!

  • cool review!

  • Thanks man!
